Good Girls: Jeff (2019)
I'm enjoying the season but there is a huge goof they don't explain
When the ladies dump the body earlier in the season they find Boomer's phone. If that isn't Boomer then how did it get there?? I guess he planted it on Jeff's body but that would assume he knew 1) they would eventually come to Mary looking for him, 2) that she'd lie and give them Jeff's body, & 3) that they would dispose of it without opening the bag and seeing it wasn't him. It's a pretty big snag in an otherwise great season.
What If...?: What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark? (2021)
What If... This episode had an ending
I guess they'll finish this one up later? Pretty weak storytelling.
What If...?: What If... Ultron Won? (2021)
Weak as aluminum
So now we can just kneecap an Ultron drone. If Tony Stark just aimed lower he would still be alive. Someone tell the Watcher "Sweep the leg!"
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Chimera (1999)
Classic Trek premise pulled off with feeling
One of the things I have enjoyed most from Star Trek is storytelling that turns differing philosophies into a moral dilemma that informs the characters. This episode pulls that off with fine directing and great acting. Knowing how this series/season ends, this episode really builds on the characters of Kira & Odo, and their relationship. Well done!
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Chrysalis (1998)
Bashir was way too creepy
The way here slides from being a caregiver to romantically involved is disturbing, regardless of his self realization at the end. Not only do I dislike this episode, it damages the character in an ugly way.
Unknown (2011)
When you are fresh out of Bourne movie...
Pretty exciting at times with some decent twists but feels pretty derivative to me.
The Punisher: Trouble the Water (2019)
A very exciting storyline obscures a ridiculous one
I really enjoyed the drama inside the sheriff's office but at the same time we're treated to the most unbelievable, ridiculous escape scene in recent memory.
We Jam Econo: The Story of the Minutemen (2005)
Has there ever been a better band documentary?
Although a lot of the footage is of poor quality, the way the movie is edited taps into the enthusiasm the band garnered during it's live performances. After a screening at the Rice University Media Center in Houston, several attendees mentioned the urge they felt to get up and applaud 20yr old concert footage. The filmmakers did an excellent job of breaking up current interviews with footage they shoot throughout the band's early years. Surviving members of the band and other music contemporaries reminisce about why the Minutemen stood out and were so important. These ideas are then highlighted by concert footage or an archived interview with the band shortly before the death of D. Boon. For example, seeing Mike Watt today talk about growing up in San Pedro and the aggravations of trying to start a band in a small town is accentuated with comments he makes twenty years prior as the band is starting to taste national exposure. Whether you are a fan of the Minuteman, or alternative rock in general, shouldn't matter in choosing this film. The story resonates around the childhood friendship between D. Boon and Mike Watt and how it produced a sound that was one of the most creative in the history of rock n' roll. Imagine a twenty-year class reunion but only the people you liked are going to attend. That's the feeling I walked away with.
