Elite Short Stories: Omar Ander Alexis (2021)
A wide range of emotions
Wow. I'm not one to cry over a series but this story hit different. By the end there was a mixed feeling of sadness, joy, heartbreak, relief and many more that I can't even put into words. And meanwhile, it still managed to be funny without trying too hard. Beautiful story, even better execution.
And don't even get me started on the character development. Perfect.
Riverdale: Chapter Eighty-Five: Destroyer (2021)
It's not even "funny" bad anymore
It's just bad. And it's getting awfully repetitive. The whole thing feels like a lame reboot of season 3 with the relationship dynamics and everything. Kevin's storyline is the only plausible thing in this boring mess.
Riverdale: Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders (2021)
So bad I actually love it
Oh my god all of it was so stupid. It's very random and ridiculous but, over the years, I think I learned to love Riverdale for what it is: a guilty pleasure. Once a week, for 45 minutes, we get to just sit back and watch an incredibly dumb and unrealistic storyline play out in the most random, illogical and laughable way.
I can't help but love this show. I hope it doesn't get better any time soon and gets renewed for 9 more seasons.
The Expanse: Winnipesaukee (2021)
Finally something watchable
This episode finally had some decent development and the story is going somewhere. Glad to see something to happen with Avasarala since we barely saw herdo anything since episode 4.
Still way too much Naomi though. It was simply useless to show her boring stretched-out struggle continue in this episode, of course, without any development
Riverdale: Chapter Seventy-Four: Wicked Little Town (2020)
Have mercy on the audience and make it stop
Seriously these musical episodes happen every single year as if people were begging for it. This show got bad enough already during the last two seasons, no need to push it.
If the writes or the CW or whoever make these kind of decisions have some respect for their own work, they should cancel this show and give it some kind of closure in season 5.
Or maybe just stop making musical episodes if you can't do more.
Dark: Ein unendlicher Kreis (2019)
Ultimate fist bump
That line from older Jonas to his father broke me like no other show did before.
The Expanse: New Terra (2019)
I'm speechless
I would rather give this episode storywise a 9 but the incredible production value and Interstellar-like cinematography makes it an easy 10
Riverdale: Chapter Sixty-Five: In Treatment (2019)
Did I just see actual character development?
I rated all previous episodes really low because they made even less sense than the awkward mess that was season 3.
But this episode was a very positive surprise. It had real human feelings and the characters made logical decisions. I don't think it was a "break" from the main plot as someone wrote in an earlier review. The therapy was a very much necessary, integrate part of each storyline because none of them seemed to be moving forward before. But now they are, and after a long time, I'm somewhat curious again what comes next.
Learning from the past, I don't have high hopes for the future of the series, but this one was still a very good, character driven episode.
The 100: The Blood of Sanctum (2019)
More lile a mid-season finale
I really liked this episode even though most of it felt rushed. They were throwing confusing new questions at us like there's no tomorrow. I'm glad Russell didn't get floated, the character has a lot of potential. I hope they come up with a scientifically somewhat acceptable answer for the Anomaly thing that happened in the end, this is the first time since Season 3 that I'm a bit worried about the upcoming season. But, since it's gonna be the last one, I'm hopeful they can manage to pull it off
Toy Story 4 (2019)
I'm a 21 year old adult man and I'm in tears
This was probably the most satisfying conclusion to anything ever. Seeing the franchise slowly maturing and growing up together with its core audience is something very special. During the last ten minutes I was constantly in tears and I'm not ashamed. I'm so glad Pixar made this, thank you.
3%: Capítulo 08: Onda (2019)
So apparently there will be a fourth season
I really thought the series would end with this episode but I was wrong, it was more of a setup for a presumably action packed final season.
I really enjoyed most of this season even though the season 2 finale made me think a third round is kind of forced and unnecessary. The writers did a great job putting together a coherent logical story while doing justice to the small plot holes from the previous season.
I have one big complaint though: the last 10 minutes was very rushed and Gloria suddenly joining the revolution out of nowhere and keeping her secret felt pretty off, but this is something they can easily work out next season.
Overall, this season exceeded my expectations
Riverdale: Chapter Fifty-Seven: Survive the Night (2019)
Suprisingly great ending to an overall dull season
When I first started watching Riverdale it was a really good show but I have to admit that most of this season was so dull and overstretched it became more of a weekly guilty pleasure or idk. From time to time actors seemed to forget they're actually playing teenagers and so did I because some of their storylines were so unsuitable for a 16-17 year old. Not to mention how stupid the parents were sometimes and how they kept depending on their children's help, so unreal.
This finale was overall well paced, few to no cringy convos and scenes (yes, I would confess my love and kiss someone just when they're about to die from a poison and every single moment counts, totally) and they finally tied a few old loose ends.
But I think the best thing about this episode was the flashforward in the last scene and I really hope it will mean an actual big death in season 4 because it's kinda annoying that main characters are always invincible and immortal. Anyway it looks surprisingly promising and, not only because it will be their senior year, I think it would be best to put an end to the show with season 4 so it can go out in dignity.
The Walking Dead: The Calm Before (2019)
I have no words
Here I am, 10 minutes after the end and still in shock. This is the best episode of the series period, if "No Way Out" is a 10, this is a 12 or a 13. It was unpredictable and beautifully executed. As another user wrote, the definiton of bittersweet.
Thank you Angela Kang for righting the wrongs of the two previous seasons, and more. I think it's safe to say that the series is entering its second golden era.
Riverdale: Chapter Fifty-One: Big Fun (2019)
This is the single cringiest thing I have ever experienced
Dear God I had to look away during some scenes they were so painful to watch. Why are they forcing this? Come on. I actually feel sorry for the actors, it was awful.
The Walking Dead: Bounty (2019)
Back to the roots
The tension I felt during the baby scene can only be compared to the escape in "No Way Out", this is something that has been really missing from the show ever since. The scene was really scary from Connie's point of view, not hearing the walkers approach, and mostly, because it was't completely predictable how it's gonna play out. I liked all the previous episodes this season (more or less), but this is the one that really convinced me that the show is back on track, the one it left pretty fast after "No Way Out".
Btw I hope the ratings won't keep falling and fans who gave up on the Walking Dead during seasons 7&8 will eventually give it another chance.
Grace and Frankie: The Alternative (2019)
¿What?
The episode was just simply uncalled for. Something like this might have worked as a forgivable almost half-decent filler somewhere around mid-season. At least that would have payed off, because then we could have had the wedding episode as an actual fitting season finale.
This episode was exceptionally poorly written, the actors did a surprisingly bad job portraying their characters' past selves and, except for Grace's big announcement in the very last second, NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FINALE!
I'm confused about the writers' decisions and I'm very disappointed.
