I really liked it, but it was so different from the book for me to love it
8 May 2023
I love the book and how shockingly disturbing it could be, and while this film was able to capture some of that, it was almost too drastically different for my liking. The direction was great, performances were very convincing, the writing was good, and it had some shocking elements. It also captured a really special feeling that leaves you with a strange feeling inside.

I especially liked the chemistry between Emily Blunt and Natalie Press, who both gave great performances and sold a very loving and complicated relationship.

I'd definitely recommend this movie, but I'd suggest reading the book first.

Rick and Morty: Amortycan Grickfitti (2021)
Season 5, Episode 5
6/10
This show just isn't the same anymore
20 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was fine, made me laugh a few times. But there's just something missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. It felt like such a soulless filler type episode that this show simply never had before. It didn't do anything for the story in my opinion. We see that people make fun of Jerry for amusement, and we also see that Morty and Summer are losers, like we haven't seen those elements of the show explored before. I will admit this episode is like Citizen Kane compared to episode 4, but it's just not up to par for Rick and Morty. Throughout the first three seasons of the show the lowest grade I have an episode was an 8/10, and I was shocked when I gave two 7/10's to the dragon episode and Childrick of Mort last season. We're now here in season 5 at the halfway point and I've already given out a 2/10 and a 6/10. Am I going to stop watching this show? Hell no, but I'm now worried that the rest of the season will be at this level of mediocrity, especially since I personally was not impressed with any of the clips from the trailers from episodes we haven't seen yet.

Rick and Morty: Rickdependence Spray (2021)
Season 5, Episode 4
2/10
My absolute least favorite episode of this show
12 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What the hell was this? The first 3 episodes of this season were so promising, and then they pump this putrid thing out. What is with the sex jokes this season? First it was Beth and Jerry experimenting, Nimbus's junk, Rick and Summer planet hopping to apocalypse orgy's, and now an entire episode literally revolving around semen? I'm very disappointed that this show that was known for its creativity has resorted to these Family Guy level jokes. Hopefully the first half of the season ends on a good note and then the second half picks up like last season.

Rick and Morty: A Rickconvenient Mort (2021)
Season 5, Episode 3
8/10
A critique I haven't seen many people talk about
5 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I thought this episode was good, not great, but there's something that this episode shared along with episode 1 of this season and some elements of last season. I think they're going wayyyyy too heavy on the sex jokes/plotlines. I did not like how Rick and Summer jumped around planets banging aliens, I just think it adds an unnecessary layer of raunchiness and pretty soulless comedy that the first 3 seasons were so passive with. I'm not saying that it's just completely unfunny, I'm just saying that when it becomes so much of a B-plot (and even an A-plot in some episodes like the dragon one last season) it just makes me think "they really couldn't think of something else?" Who knows, maybe it's just me and I don't get it, but I think at times they go overboard with this. Good episode, go watch it.

If you aren't a film buff, stay away
26 April 2020
I loved the killing of the sacred deer, but I can 100% see why most people think it's either bad or average. It has a fairly confusing plot with very stale performances, but that's the point of the film. This isn't the type of movie someone should pick apart, instead you should just appreciate it for what it is and really embrace the weirdness of the movie. I felt that it's more about style and really leaves a lot up to interpretation opposed to following a basic formula. If you want to be weirded out and disturbed for a few hours I'd recommend a watch, because trust me, you have not seen a movie like this.

Great Movie
17 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't a big fan of Ethan and Joel Coen's The Ballad of Buster Scruggs the first time I watched it, but something about it kept drawing me back. After viewing it a second time I understood the true meaning of the film and appreciated it much more. Each story is told in such a unique way, yet they all have a very similar underlying theme. The performances are all very good, especially from Tim Blake-Nelson who steals the show and hooks the viewer in the first chapter of the film. The only flaw of the film in my opinion is that none of the stories told connect in any way. I think that it was a missed opportunity to make the movie even more unique and interesting. But nevertheless, this is a great movie that I'd recommend for any film buff, it may not be a good choice for the average movie goer.

Gone Girl (2014)
9/10
Great Movie
17 April 2020
It's insulting that this film was only nominated for a single academy award. Gone Girl is able to take the plot of its movie which is tragic as is and spiral it out of control to the point of no return for the characters. The performances were all fantastic and Rosamund Pike was very well deserving of her nomination for best actress. Sadly the reason this doesn't fall under the category of a Perfect Movie for me is because of Neil Patrick-Harris' performance, whenever he was on screen I was taken out of the movie a bit, he should stick to comedies. But overall Gone Girl is a fantastic movie that I'd recommend to anyone who appreciates a good film.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Perfect Movie
17 April 2020
This is my favorite film of all time. Every second of this film is engaging, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that. Tarantino's direction and script is brilliant, and every role is perfectly cast. Everything that happens in this movie has a purpose, and you don't realize it's hidden in plain sight until the final moments

Perfect Movie

The beauty of the Coen brothers The Big Lebowski is that they're able to make a movie that's basically about nothing and make it so watchable to the point where it's become a classic

Perfect Movie

An incredible story of a man who cares about nothing more than leading his people to freedom. Braveheart is able to capture the brutalities of war and the courage of mankind in a way no other movie does

Can I give it less than a 1?
11 March 2020
I watched this movie hoping it would be at least entertaining, but I'll gladly say it was far from that. This movie sucks in every way possible. Horrible direction, horrible script, horrible acting, horrible production. And if you do choose to watch this movie you'll ask yourself "it's supposed to be this bad, right?" Well the answer to that is no, if you watch interviews with Glenn Danzig you'll realize he wanted to make a masterpiece, but failed in every aspect. Don't waste your money on this film and save an hour and a half of your life

Suicide Squad (2016)
1/10
Entertaining at times but overall pretty bad movie
4 August 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Suicide Squad starts out OK then crashes and burns. I really wanted to like this movie but it was just impossible. There was no character development at all, the CGI was freakin terrible, the editing sucked, the main villain had potential to be awesome but they didn't use her at all, and it was super predictable. I did like some of the characters. Margot Robbie was good as Harley Quinn, Will Smith was such a likable character as Deadshot, Jai Courtney did the impossible and was good in a movie, and Jared Leto was easily the best part of this movie. He killed it as joker but there is one complaint I have with his character, he's in it for like twenty minutes. Every time he was about to do something that you wanted to see the scene just ends. Joel Kinnaman was fine but his character had really corny lines at times, El Diablo was alright, I didn't really like Killer Croc,I really wanted to like Enchantress but the way they used her was pretty boring and the movie just felt incomplete. Batman is in it for a little bit in the very beginning and it made me think to myself during the final battle "where the hell is batman during all of this?" The movie doesn't take place in gotham but we saw he has a jet in B v S. There were so many plot holes and the ending of the movie is so rushed and half assed. Suicide Squad wasn't just a disappointing movie but it's a bad movie. Suicide Squad gets a D-

Finding Dory (2016)
8/10
Pleasantly surprised
23 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
When I went to see Finding Dory yesterday I wasn't really anticipating anything besides it being the sequel to Finding Nemo which I really enjoy. I left the theater very happy with this movie, not only was it very emotional but it played out very well. You really did feel bad for Dory, you get to see how she got separated from her family with multiple flashbacks throughout the film and she uses these flashbacks to trace back to where her parents are. Marlin and Nemo don't play a huge role in the movie but the amount of screen time they get fits into the movie really nicely. So far 2016 has been pretty disappointing with its movies besides Captain America: Civil War and The Nice Guys but Finding Dory was a really good movie and I recommend you go see it. I'm gonna give finding Dory an A-

It's all downhill from murder house
10 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
When I started watching this show earlier this month, I thought I was in love, murder house and asylum were great and I thought this would be my new show but then when season 3 came along my view on this show changed. Coven was not bad but it was just kind of there, the characters weren't very good and it was very misleading. It was more about Voodoo than witchcraft and there were too many visual effects. Now this is where I felt like giving up, season 4 started strong and had a very eerie feeling, I was excited to watch it but as they kept introducing characters it just fell apart. There really isn't a way to describe how Freakshow was bad, it was just very weird and got very dark towards the end. And the thing that bothers me the most is that they made Emma Roberts a main character in Coven and Freakshow. I just didn't understand what either of her characters points were, in coven she was a millionaire actress who lives in a school for witches, and in Freakshow she literally just stands there and gets mad at Evan Peters. I recommend watching season's 1 and 2, if you like those enough watch season 3, but don't waste your time with season 4. I haven't seen season 5 but I have heard good things. Season 1 gets an A+, season 2 gets an A, season 3 gets a C+, and season 4 gets a C-.

I enjoyed it, but I can see why the reviews are so mixed
28 May 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I saw X-MEN: Apocalypse last nigh and went into it with high expectations. Even though I was not disappointed, I was not blown away at all. While still a very enjoyable movie it is not put together well. Things seem rushed, the new characters besides Jean Grey, Cyclops and Nightcrawler felt very rushed. Olivia Munn's character Psylocke had about 6 lines, Storm's introduction was very fast, and Angel may have 2 or 3 lines in this movie. Apocalypse wasn't a very good villain, he was a boring character, you don't really know what his powers are, and he just doesn't cut it. The character had lots of potential, especially since he was played by Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac but the way the film played out just didn't work. There are lots of pros though, like the Quicksilver scene, The opening pyramid sequence, Sophie Turner did pretty well as Jean Grey, MaCavoy and Fassbender are great as Professor X and Magneto, very good visual effects, good humor, and the Wolverine cameo was cool but clearly to setup the upcoming Wolverine movie in 2017. The final fight scene while entertaining felt a little Last Standish. Don't get me wrong this movie was better than The Last Stand but it is noticeably worse DOFP. And I had a smile at the end because everyone survives and we see the X-Men in their new suits and it clearly says there is gonna be a new trilogy. The new cast is very good and a new X-Men movie has been confirmed with this new cast, hopefully Fassbender, Macavoy and JLaw all resign to play their characters, but I'm excited to see what this new cast will bring us. X-MEN: Apocalypse was a fun summer movie and I'd recommend it to any X-MEN fan.

Jurassic park III Review
24 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a huge fan of the Jurassic Park franchise. I loved the original and The Lost World, I did think Jurassic World was a bit disappointing but it was still a good movie. Jurassic Park III on the other hand is an embarrassment to this franchise. When I watch a movie I review it based on the acting, directing, cast, camera angles and the budget. If it weren't for this movie having the name Jurassic Park in it, I think Jurassic Park III would be considered one of the worst movies ever made. It isn't directed by Steven Spielberg it's directed by Joe Johnston who only has made one good movie which was October Sky. The main problem with this movie is that it seemed rushed and unfinished. The thing I loved about The Lost World is that Steven Spielberg tried to make it different than Jurassic Park, the problem with Jurassic Park III is that it's just trying to get Sam Neill back on the island and feels like a cheap version of the original. There are just so many moments where your thinking to yourself "they actually put that in the movie" or "They thought that was a good idea?". The animatronics in this movie are bad too! It's crazy to me that a movie that came out in 1993 has better CGI and animatronics than the one that came out in 2001. Besides Sam Neill's character Alan Grant everybody in this movie is flat and boring and has no emotion whatsoever. It's 30 minutes shorter than Jurassic Park and The Lost World and there isn't even a main antagonist in this movie. A spinosaurus is on the poster of this movie so you would assume that they are being stalked by a spino right? No that thing appears like 3 times and just chases them into an area where they can hide from it. Alan Grant is also going crazy because he is obsessed with raptors or something, I don't know it's very unclear. There's a dream sequence on a plane where Alan sees a raptor sitting next to him and it says his name. That was one of those wtf moments in this film. Here is a quick fun fact before we wrap up, they started filming this movie before the script was finished. That explains a lot. This movie is truly terrible and if your thinking of buying the Jurassic Park trilogy on Blu Ray or something don't waste your money. Just buy Jurassic Park and The Lost World separately. This thing is one of the worst sequels ever made and one of the worst movies ever made. The final grade for Jurassic Park III is an F.
