Darksyde (Hell Walks the Earth 2) (2020)
Not the worst zombie movie I've ever seen. Also I was an extra in this.
An 8 out of 10 might be a little high. If I wasn't an extra in this and didn't know just how low budget this was then I probably would have rated it lower. Its fun but not the deepest of plots. But its a zombie movie and considering how great the guys were that did this movie and that they shot it on camcorders they really did an amazing job. Im in a scene with almost 400 extras as zombies I think. No one will win an Oscar for acting in this. The cop was OK. The little girl wasn't bad. Most were mediocre. Some of the zombie kills were done very poorly. It seemed like nobody really cared that the whole town was filled with zombies. But everyone always had a gun in their hand.
I liked that this sequel was in color. The 1st one was in black and white. So again, I'm in it for a couple seconds and I met the makers of the movie. They were really cool guys that were just having fun making this. So my 8 out of 10 might be skewed. But overall it was okay.
Headless (2015)
It was OK. Over the top grossout gore fest.
3rd review tonight. Reviewing a bunch of Indiana made movies because yeah I live here. This review as with the others, I factor in that these are really low budget movies with really no recognizable actors.
This movie was just repulsive. And I think thats the point. But they used the same gimmick too many times.
How many severed heads can you rape and it still be shocking? two? three? It seemed like it happened like 50 times. and by the 50th time I just didn't care.
Decent story though. Showing how the killer became who he was was interesting. Acting was OK. The sleazy roller rink guy and the blond female were pretty good. The kid with the skull mask was super creepy. He made the scenes he was in SO much better. Great 70s grindhousy look and feel to the movie. The filmmakers nailed that in my opinion. Worth a watch.
Proxy (2013)
Pretty good. Almost really good.
Spoilers included here. Im Reviewing another Indiana movie. (Im from Indiana and think its cool that some Indie movies are being made here and getting exposure) This was great to be a low budget Indie. I'd love to know the budget on this. Watched this on netflix a few months ago. Good story. Very slow pacing but that was intentional I believe. Definitely a nod to "Psycho" with the Hitchcock feel, the main character being killed in the middle of the movie. And in the shower no less. Well bathtub. That scene was crazy and almost comical. But really good. If that makes sense. Second half of the movie did drag a bit and got less plausible as it went along. I really didn't buy the lesbian lover character at all.
I think as a viewer I'm supposed to think "wow these are some messed up twisted people" and they were. Overall, pretty decent. Not a cookie cutter movie at all. Certainly worth a watch. There's FAR worse on Netflix.
