Zhou (2022)
Found footage isn't dead
This film was quite an unexpected gem. I find most asian horror films to be better than your typical hollywood horror that has been done a thousand times.
It certainly kept me on edge throughout. The acting was brilliant, especially from the child and mother. There were certain scenes that really made me feel on edge without the use of jump scares or even any effects. The brilliant acting, realistic affects and great use of camera work made this a fantastic horror film.
This is a film that sticks with you and i would definitely watch again.
The Devil All the Time (2020)
Tom Holland takes the cake!
When i first saw Tom Holland he was a great addition to spiderman. But my god he had much more to give and this film just shows it. We know bill skarsgard is an amazing acting anyway but also robert pattinson gives a brilliant performance.
Back to Tom Holland. He is incredible in this. I never thought he'd go beyond marvel and into 18+ films. He suits it so much more and that lad is TALENTED! His performance is impeccable.
This is one of the greatest films of the year.
Grand Piano (2013)
Elijah wood at his best
Very similar in its context to Phone Booth. The film as a whole for me was a 6/10. But elijah's performance was fantastic. I thought he couldnt get better than maniac but he outdid himself here.
Really worth the watch.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Just watch it!
Due to my strange brain i struggle to be interested in a series past the second season. GOT is one of them. (Unpopular opinion i know).
But THIS. I have not seen one poor actor... the events are unpredictable from episode to episode. It is brutal and captivating and accurate to the era.
This is by far the best thing to be released on netflix. World class acting, fantastic cinematography. I could go on.
Haunted (2018)
You need to realise what it is
This isn't pretending to be real. If you have seen 'the fourth kind' this is how you should take this series. If you watch this believing that its supposed to be real you will hate it.
So to the guy who said 'how stupid netflix thinks you are', you are pretty much the stupid one for not getting the point. Despite that, its too cheesy and quite poorly made. There are some creepy moments in the 'reenacted' performances. But for people asking for the proof. I don't know what else to say to you except... there is none 😂
Dead Man's Shoes (2004)
From a true brit
The best british film since This Is England.
A masterclass representation of the era it was set in.
The acting is incredible. At times it is unnerving, but you feel gripped throughout.
It is rare a british film gets this much appreciation.
No spoilers here. Just watch it.
