A little western to enjoy
20 September 2020
Do you like westerns? I do and this one I enjoyed. It's starts with a gang of misfits who kill an innocent family and abduct their daughter. This seems like a simple set up for the movie but it goes it's own way. It blurred the lines between good and evil and although the story itself isnt without flaws it delivers this message. We see a couple familiar face among the acteurs and they're at home in this movie. Overall the acting is pretty decent and the sets look great. The costumes are ok but feel a little to clean at the beginning. Nevertheless the western feel is real enough. But this movie isn't without hiccups. I can understand why some people hate it and it feels cheap at some parts through the movie. The editing feels rushed and even early in the movie the cuts become repetitive. It feels unprofessional and combined with the special effects the movie feels like a B movie. The camera work isn't the best as some might notice and it looks like it's been shot on a lower-end camera. I think a big chunk of the money went into the cast and set and they had to cut cost in post. If the budget didn't allow it I think they made the good choice to focus on the story. If you can live with the somewhat sloppy camera and like westerns don't let the bad rating scare you and give it a try.

80's vibe horror Anti-Movie
11 September 2020
I've read so many bad reviews so I felt to clear things out. This is something I would call een anti movie. The story is what an 80's horror movie would have been but then turns it around. In the beginning it gives away the ending and does it through out the movie. So if your expecting an trilling 80's style horror movie, you're gonna be disappointed because the story goes in against the Hollywood writings and there for is something only a few people gonna like. The movie is slow, is kinda dorky and tries to make you feel uncomfortable but not in a scary way. I enjoyed it and I understand why some people don't. Still interested in watching this movie? Just try it and see for yourself and maybe you're like me.

Mulan (2020)

Form over function, influence from the animation but not the charm.
6 September 2020
I been pretty excited when they announced a life action remake from Mulan. It suits a life action better than some other story's but it's been done poorly.

First of all I'm happy to see it's not an direct copy of the animation in terms of story. It's starts somewhat on the same foot but takes a little detour along the way introducing a Little magic and taking some away. This is all good and well if it was for the better but that's where they get lost. The characters are poorly developed especially the main characters. They stay somewhat the same the whole movie except they gain some skills but they are not grown in personality. Mulan grows a bit in the beginning but doesn't gain any skills (she already has them). This makes the story some what plain.

So the story is mediocre but serves the purpose of telling about Mulan, the story we already know. Therefor I'd expected to be a visual masterpiece, and it is if it wasn't for the special effects .The scenes are well lit and styled, the outfits are amazing and beautiful to see. The scenery feels less recognizable but is stunning. It's less China and more Silk Road. But then there are the visual effects: they look cheap and uncontrolled. It's like they put form over function. The visuals do not serve the story, the story is just to drive the movie from scene to scene so they can show new stuff.

If you're a Mulan fan or a movie fan in general, skip this one. If you like to pauze a move a thousand times to watch some scenery your in for a treat. Either way, it feels like a generic movie that's far beneath Disney A Titles.

A visual spectacle that doesn't come close to Ezio or Altaliers story.
7 May 2017
*No Spoilers*

Let me start of by telling that I'm a Assassins Creed fan, and have played all the games until the last one. This movie is described short but simple, as many movies do that lack a good story telling. It's a visual masterpiece with eye for composition and great camera movements. The effects look great and have a overall "epic" feeling that belongs in the Assassins creed series. However, How great the movie looks is shortened by the lack of storytelling and misses out on some of the essentials of the Creed series. This movie follows the same path as the game series did, Ezio and Altalier gave the order a face and backbone of a story, where the ones who followed lacked a spine and just wear fancy costumes. Yes I know this is my opinion of the story, and I'm sad to say the movie didn't live up to it expectations.

Lets bring it back to a action movie that should be able to stand alone, it does what it has to do, being a visual outstanding movie, with great action scenes and a simple story. Overall something you'll enjoy at least once, but not as the assassins creed story you knew from the first 2 games.

Great looking movie, but with some issue's
16 December 2015
First of all, The movie looks great. Now a days tecnique really add's his value and you'll get a good feeling how colossal man made machines can be. The acting is great and we will all be glad to see some familiar faces from the first movies. Although, there is this "disney magic" That doesn't belong in the Star Wars Universe. If you are really into Star Wars, and familiar with the untold story, you might wanna re- think watching this one. The movie is different from the old ones. The action in the movie is great, and if you're new too Star Wars this might be a great movie to watch First. Things go fast, and you'll forget you just watch a over 2 hour movie. There will be moments when you'll forget your popcorn like Star Wars should. But somewhere in the movie you IF notice some difference, and when you do, it might leave you with a sick feeling.
