Goldberg & Eisenberg (2013)
Terrific
SLUGMagazineFilms's review is spot on. I would like to mention the stylized look of the film. It's a little off-putting at first - a glow effect on everything. And the bulk of the movie is shot at night with minimal lighting, sets and people (and a minimal budget). The cinematography is really superb with plenty of interesting camera shots and lighting effects. The glow effect ends by the 4th act and a more conventional approach is taken. The final scenes reminded me of the Cohen Bros in the best way. This is a story that anyone can relate to which makes it totally unnerving. Also, very few Director/Writers nail both jobs. Oren Carmi did just that.
The Last Halloween (2014)
spooooooky ah-hahahahaaaa
A well- crafted 10 minute film, pretty much all the great horror elements are in play, like fog drenched atmosphere, crazy characters and a spine tingling score. I guess it's an homage to the 80's horror style in other words it's not found footage. And it's fun - a real throwback. The psycho in the first scenes deserves his own place in the horror dungeon of fame. Unlike this little gem I will have to pad out my story. Gotta say the last shot was fairly epic. I guess I should mention the makeup. Big crew. There's no blood or gore or torture or gorgeous nubile young bodies screaming at each other either. So what else is on . . .
