Bones: The Parts in the Sum of the Whole (2010)
WARNING-Do not read "Disappointment with a capital D" review, it has a big spoiler!!
I've left this review in part to warn people that the above mentioned review on this episode has an unmarked spoiler. I fortunately didn't read the reviews until after I had seen the episode but I would have been very upset if I had. I like to be surprised by things that happen big and small. I have reported it to IMDb, hopefully it is removed. If so I suppose this part of the review is pointless, and maybe won't even be posted, not sure how this works exactly but someone needed to warn people.
As for the episode it's great!! The actors do such a great job like always. They really show how talented they are specifically in this episode with the situations they're in. The episode involves some flashbacks starting from the beginning and I love them! Flashbacks can be great or horrible and I think this one was great. we learn some very interesting and surprising things. There is some talk in the other reviews about the script not being very good but some of the things they mention as being bad were actually parts that I thought were very clever and I enjoyed. So no accounting for taste I guess.
Bones: The Critic in the Cabernet (2009)
Rosimili response
I saw Rosimili's review and it just made me smile so I had to post a review. This review is about this episode as well as the whole series. The reason I laughed was because this show seems to be meant for people like Rosimili. (And me!) The tone of the series has changed and this is because the characters have changed. Bones is a show heavily based on character development. (That means change!) All of the psychology and deep things about the characters play a huge part in each episode and result in the characters progressing... For the better! The point of it is that yes it has lost some of the grit and seriousness which it did so well(although I think it still has a good amount and still does it well, I'm also not sure those are the precise words to use, but anyway), it lost some of that because the characters are losing it a bit at a time as well. It's on purpose. I'm sure the show could have stayed the same if it wanted but that is so out of line with what the show is based on. (Character development) Each character has gone through a lot of development, emerging from depressive/unhealthy issues into a more healthy head space little by little. They are becoming happier more mentally healthy people. This results in a bit happier less depressed tone. (Again not sure if I'm using perfect words but I hope I'm communicating my point well enough) The goal I think is that in a way we grow along with the characters. We learn from it. It has good positive messages. I can understand however how some people wouldn't be ready for such a change. We might feel as though without the issues and depressed tone, it's not real anymore, because depression/unhealthy issues may be our only reality. (It's definitely mine and most people's I believe to some extent, I love how the show has so much psychology in it, more people need therapy than realize it) That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with the show though! The show wants to show us that reality is what we make it, it doesn't have to be so jaded and depressing. Anyway, I'm sure I didn't communicate my point as well as I hope but I just think the show is really good :) and succeeds at doing what it was always meant to do. Even if people aren't ready for it. Or just plain don't like it. :)
Arrow: Restoration (2015)
Don't listen to the few haters, this show is great!
This is one of my top favorite shows of all time. I was looking at this after watching it the day it came out and noticed the only review saying Arrow isn't good anymore. Not true! Lol, there were some weak points in season 3. Yes, and I was worried for a time. But overall it is wonderful. I love the first few episodes of season 4. Some people want everything to stay the same but I like the character developments evident in the first few episodes of season 4. One reviewer says he's not as Bad A as before? Why, because he's becoming a better person? He still gets the job done, he's just trying to be better for his city then just a "Bad A". The developments make sense. Oliver (and the other characters) have developed all along the show for the better. It's refreshing to see a character grow as a better person instead of getting worse and unlikeable like in so many shows today. I know for me they are welcome developments that I've been hoping for. Some people just don't get it so I wanted to offer an alternative opinion.
Also as far as bad writing etc, it's not true. It's just some people clearly like shows like breaking bad (which was admittedly very well done) where the characters buy into bull crap about becoming a more evil person in the name of supposedly helping others. Lol. The show has taken a turn toward the hopeful and the "trying too hard" is them giving there all to be better. It's nice to see Oliver more happy and actually smiling sometimes! He always had a lot of psychological issues, self hate, self pity, etc, he is healing into a better person and allowing himself to be happy. That's a healthy thing to do!
The inconsistencies that some people are referring to like Thea's aggressiveness and Oliver's being the same are clearly being misunderstood by someone who doesn't get some of the differences between good and evil however subtle the differences may seem. They are very different. Anyway, just wanted to give another side of the story because the previous review was pretty negative and just seemed so unfairly or maybe just ignorantly done, this show is great!
