The Protector (2018)
Very good for binge watching, improves per episode
I Liked it. No I am not Turkish but I love Turkish series and this is definitely not a Turkish series. What I like about Turkish series is that the makers take their time to tell a story, to get you involved into the characters and that they are not afraid to show emotion rather than action. But this is a Netflix series so its fast. There is not much time and still they manage to convincingly show the struggle of the unwilling hero and not at the cost of showing action. The action and the special effects are picking up as the story progresses. The last 5 episodes are definitely better than the first 5 but all of them are good. No complaints from me about bad special effects, they are not that important in the story But I do feel the fighting scenes could be a lot better. Cagatay did some epic fighting scenes in Icerde and considering the time they take to make a 45 minute Netflix episode compared to a 2,5 hours normal Turkish episode these could have been done a lot better. Get the crew that choregraphed and filmed them in Icerde and make it perfect. We already know Cagatay can make it look good, now the directors have to do the same. Cagatay of course is burning a hole in the screens with his charisma. That alone makes it worth your (binge) watch.
Içerde (2016)
Best series ever
I was already a fan of Cagatay, Aras, Cetin and Riza, so putting them together in one series persuaded me to watch a series about the mafia that I usually avoid like the plague. But this is far more than that. Its family drama, thriller, comic, romance, funny and most of all the series with the most exciting plot and magnificent acting that I have seen in a long time. And I have seen some pretty good series. Everybody will fall in love with the two leads, two brothers unaware of their kinship but still with an unbelievable chemistry even though it is based on jealousy and hate. This series is the masterpiece of both 26 year old actors Cagatay Ulusoy and Aras Bulut Iynemli who deserve and already received international acclaim for their previous roles but managed to turn up a notch in this. This is a series I will watch over and over and will make me excited every time again. Its epic. Get ready to be dragged inside and never to want to leave again.
Delibal (2015)
One of the best movies I have seen in years
A wonderful love story in which the plot is just love itself and just never bores, because the main character Baris'(Delibal) unique ability to love 200 percent. He can do that because he lives 200% in sadness and in joy.
Having a lot of experience with bipolar people I found this one of the most accurate and loving movies about someone living it. Maybe it seems over the top if you never experienced someone like Baris. The way he feels, does, speaks and hurts is so real. Wonderfully acted by the whole cast but especially by Cagatay Ulusoy who plays Baris. A movie that may begin and end in sadness but still makes your heart smile for years after just thinking about it. Not just a wonderful movie also a box office hit in Turkey. There is only one point of criticism: its just too short.
