The Cabin in the Woods (2011)

What a waste of an hour and a half

I love horror and thriller movies, but this one was like the Truman show meets Resident Evil! Don't be confused, I am not giving it a good start to my review.

I was confused from the start, a bunch of mid 20's early 30 year old actors trying to put on a teen role of going away to a cabin that is rigged by a reality TV sort of experiment? It would have been much more exciting and lets say, less embarrassing for the actors to just play a role in which the Cabin is haunted rather than have comical zombies and a Unicorn (which is pure and a thing of beauty in mythical cultures) stalking the living in the "underground maze of horrors".

I found this film so boring, lifeless and cheap really. Good special effects, but even a young person with windows movie maker can do better. I am yet to see a great modern thriller and horror movie to really leave me going, "that one was good.." but SFX these days and cheap sloppy actors and scripts are all that matters.

The best recent thriller I have seen is Insidious, including the 2nd Chapter. I found that way better as a thriller and horror than this garbage. Lets hope they don't make a 2nd one.

The worst Stephen King inspired movie ever made

I was really disappointed with the boring start to the movie to the boring end of it too. I was expecting a better cast too, like the original cast from the first movie. Despite loving Drew Barrymore's acting in the first FireStarrer I thought I would give this a shot. The storyline made NO sense, going back to the first movie and not exactly being accurate left me very annoyed as it could have been done heaps better. The special effects are pitiful, cheap and nasty just like the acting. 2/10- one of the worst "Stephen King inspired" movies. He would be rolling in his grave if he knew his novel would be such a terrible film.
