Jeremiah (2002)
Bad in so many ways yet good in so many others
Jeremiah has an overall interesting plot and instead of doing what most other TV-shows in this genre would do by following a direct plot or story each episode generally focuses on a side story or a smaller story which ends up being developed later throughout the series. And most side-stories entwine with the main plot or at least they get developed later throughout the series.
The acting is what you would call average at most with the protagonists being decent actors, but most of the stand in actors for episodes can sometimes seem odd and out of character. But the director seems to rely on the abundance of sex scenes to keep the show what he believes to be interesting. And they take the scenes far further than needed, and unlike other shows which imply things such as rape or sexual intercourse Jeremiah has a tendency to actually show the scenes happening and you can even sometimes see the tension between the actors.
Overall it would of been far better without the constant reliance on sex or the pretentious script at times.
FINAL SCORE: 5 OUT OF 10
The Midnight Meat Train (2008)
Don't bother
The only reason this movie scored a 5 / 10 is because of Vinny and Brad (those two actors saved this movie, although it wasn't worth saving). It has awkward acting, weird sexual moments that the characters don't even feel like they mean it (this movie doesn't need sex its weird enough, but half the time it feels like a rape scene is about to happen). It doesn't follow much logic either such as how there are murders / missing people and its all happening in subway, the police are stupid, and somehow the murderer seems to have a birds eye view or super hearing because every time our protagonist is trying to shoot his photo or follow him he just seems to know.
Had an interesting plot, but the execution was done badly.
5 / 10 (worth a watch if you have nothing else to do / want to see what its about)
Hector and the Search for Happiness (2014)
Humor, romance, and drama all nicely put together for a feel good movie!
This movie deserves some notice and recognition, it promotes itself as a comedy with a bit of romance and drama. And in the end that is exactly what you get, although it never really focuses on any one part of the journey or places he goes to and the stories that ensue in Simon Pegg's (Hector's) "search for happiness" and it becomes more of a collaborative collection of different journeys all combined into one (by that i mean Hector never really stays in one place for long or follows any particular story for long either). Although there are a few exceptions which i won't say (spoilers). This movie will put a smile on your face if only momentary and so i can say i recommend watching this movie even if its out of the simple purpose of seeing Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike in leading roles. And they did great jobs at it too, also i will mention that some parts such as the ending and other parts of Hector's journey may seem predictable but you get some twists which you won't expect and are surprisingly funny and interesting.
Watch it, its funny, romantic, and will put a smile on your face!
