There are, for real, far too many miscreants prowling this world! Real monsters of the human kind! Monsters, who without reason, they relish inflicting their horror & licentious cruelties onto others, & there by feeding what’s defective & perverse inside themselves. And that’s why, I don’t find movies showing a thousand ways one human can extirpate another very entertaining.
I prefer horror films from these subgenres (fav - least fav): paranormal/supernatural, apocalyptic/disaster, psychological, gothic, disease/body, creature/monster, science fiction, found footage, & occasionally comedy.

The Reef: Stalked (2022)
Eat us, we're an easy meal!
I'm not a writer nor am I a movie critic, but I do watch helluva a lot more movies, so I'm just going to share how this movie made me feel.
I've never kayaked before, and without having any actual kayaking experience, I would've been a seasoned pro next to the skill set the women in this movie were portrayed as having! I was shocked at how utterly incompetent the characters in this film were made out to be. I found myself yelling things like drop the damned bloody fish, and wtf, turn kayak back over throughout the entire movie! The sheer lack of common sense and any realistic response to the danger of being hunted by a great white shark killed this film for me (no pun intended)! If the women in this film were actual people, they'd have no business being in a kayak, let alone kayaking long stretches of open ocean. Yes, this is just a movie-a movie on how to broadcast loudly to all the sharks in a given area, hey come eat us, we're all an easy meal! Geez!
American Carnage (2022)
Fun/sad.
American Carnage was a good watch, especially if you like movies using political satire, like Hunt, etc. For those among us who believe equality should be everyone's right, and don't agree with the backwards direction the christofascist minority is trying to take the U. S. today, this film is a bitter pill in that respect. As a whole the film was well acted, the practical effects were excellent, and the story, it wasn't unique, but worked well. I enjoyed American Carnage.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Afterlife has life.
I'm no movie critic, so I'm not going to even attempt to dissect this film. I can only say as a 58 yr/o today and as someone who saw and enjoyed seeing the first/original Ghostbusters movie in the theater back in 1984, Afterlife was better than I had anticipated. I didn't care for Ghostbusters II (1989), and I didn't see Ghostbusters (2016), but Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) in my opinion is a good "family movie" addition to the franchise. For someone who may not have seen the first Ghostbusters movie/s, the story might feel a bit lacking, but for myself, having seen the first two Ghostbusters movies, there weren't any gaps that left me feeling cheated-it held true as a continuation sequel. Also, I was actually glad Afterlife wasn't quite as goofy as it's predecessors, and I enjoyed all the young actors, they were all talented and excellent in their respective rolls. Lastly, Afterlife felt shorter than the 2h 4m run time.
Silent Night (2021)
Silent Night was depressing.
I'm not even going try to pretend I can write a movie review like a film critic, I'm just going to say how this film made me feel.
I'm sorry, I didn't find Silent Night even remotely funny, darkly or otherwise. If anything, I found the film profoundly depressing, and I love-love end of days/apocalypse horror movies.
What made Silent Night so depressing for me was the way the children in the story were handled. They were pushy spoiled brats, but not due to being inherently bad children with poor character, they were brats because they had apathetic self-serving privileged parents, aka nasty narcissists.
Here it's the end of the world and the parents/adults are more concerned with there own pettiness and self indulgence than they are in giving any kind words of hope and/or comfort to the children. I understand this was/is just a movie, but wouldn't most parents/adults at the very least try to provide their/the children with some level of solace?
Although I do believe in being truthful with children, an exception would most definitely be in order, especially when faced with the imminent demise of everyone. Silent Night was completely depressing, but then again, the human race is innately selfish and depressing in reality too.
Lastly, I absolutely predicted the ending; sequel? Don't read my last sentence if you haven't seen the movie yet.
P. S. This is for the people who didn't catch why there was an apocalypse: it's because the human race had pillaged, raped and poisoned earth's environment to the point of creating a toxic storm, a toxic storm that rolled across the surface of the planet, one continent at a time, systematically wiping out humanity.
Cloverfield (2008)
Cloverfield is an experience...
Cloverfield still in 2021 is one of the best handheld camera/found footage horror films: the action and tension are over the top, the acting is good and the monsters are insane! Even after 13 years Cloverfield is still one of the best made creature features - one doesn't just watch Cloverfield, you experience it! The visuals are done so well they rival anything being produced today, so take the ride, you won't regret it! And that's all I have to say about my third watch since this gem was released in 2008!
Greener Grass (2019)
I never rate movies with <3 stars!
I make it a point to finish every movie I start, even the bad ones, because I always hope there will be something redeeming before the end credits.
I forced myself to watch Greener Grass for as long as I could, I truly tried, but by the ¾ mark I had to surrender! I just couldn't allow myself to be mentally tortured with mind numbing nonsense any longer! Greener Grass for me was as torturous as watching Napoleon Dynamite, which was the only other movie I couldn't force myself to finish.
I'm not a movie critic, but in the last 12ish years I've literally watched more than a thousand movie titles. About 11ish years ago I also discovered IMDb, and ever since I've been rating all the films I see, because it's a good way to keep track of/a running list of all the film titles. As of 01/13/2022 my list of movies watched and rated is 970 films and counting, and that's not including titles I've so far forgotten to rate, the titles I couldn't rate, because they weren't in the IMDb search, or any of the titles I saw before 2010, because I'm making myself watch those movies a second time before I rate them. My point is, I've finished watching 969 movies, but I couldn't finish watching Greener Grass!
Me You Madness (2021)
Twisted fun- no thinking required...
I'm not going to say too much about this film, it was just twisted fun and exactly what this lady needed. Deliciously beautiful young bodies, good chemistry between the leads, entertaining banter, fun clothes and shoes, a lady with balls leaving aside she's also a narcissistic sociopath serial killer and cannibal, a gorgeous mansion and lets not forget a killer 80s sound tract (couldn't resist) - what's not to like?
The Jurassic Games (2018)
Better than I anticipated.
The Jurassic Games was actually a perfect mix of mindlessness sci-fi, action, and mean man eating dinosaur fun! The story is about ten ruthless death row inmates, who were given the choice of either being executed by lethal injection in the usual manner or by participating in The Jurassic Games. TJG is a yearly twisted reality show, where only one man or woman out of ten inmates wins their freedom, if they survive the game's various challenges, the difficult landscape, the hungry dinosaurs, etc. and the other inmates also trying to kill them that is. The acting was quite decent and the CGI was done very well too, so all in all this movie was futuristic dino fun. Oh, the blood and guts are also faily tame considering we have dinosaurs chowing human steak tartare.
The Unborn (2020)
C movie
The Unborn is a ghost/creature feature. The acting isn't bad, the set is dark, but also not too bad, but the story, it's bad! There is no plot, no reason why what had happened is happing again? The story has no point and no guts - pun intended! A little history or back story could've helped this film greatly. Also the ending was way too predictable! All and all I've seen a lot worse, but that still doesn't help this movie in any way.
The Revenant (2009)
Different and somewhat comedic.
A different and somewhat comedic take on two dead undead best friends, who together must discover the ins and outs of their new non-living lives, as novitiate zombie-vampires, on the mean streets of Cali.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Epic!
I'm no movie critic. I also know this version on King Arthur and Excalibur is a stretch for purists of the fable, and maybe even a letdown. But, as an action movie, with dark magic, an evil king, and good guys versus bad guys, this was an epic-ally rewarding tale! The acting was great, the CGI was great, the story hit my fantasy spot, and the ending was satisfying too. All and all this was a good time.
