Pixies (2015)
Pixie Trouble
The Pixies Movie is extremely entertaining especially for an animated movie, which is something quite unexpected. It follows the story of Joe Back who works as a mechanic at an auto shop whose life turns upside down the moment some evil-behaving pixies show up. For a while Joe, who is the main character thinks he must be losing his mind, until he realizes that Sam the pixie is ultimately responsible for his problems, but then everything changes because Joe loses his girlfriend thanks to the pixies. At this point it's up to Joe to stop the endless cycle of back-and-forth fights between him and the pixies, and get his life back. Cinematography was excellent in the film and the characters were all colorful and it added to the project. Most movies have a moral or a lesson to be learned, and the Pixies film is the same in that regard. In this story the characters learn from their mistakes, and the greatest moral to learn is that revenge is never the answer to a dispute between two parties. Therefore the Pixies is a great movie to watch and it's good for a very family friendly audience.
Olympus: The Lexicon (2015)
The Breakdown of a True Hero
This is a wonderful episode and I am shocked at how much the character of Hero has changed. He appears to be more grown up now than in the first episode. In the first episode he seemed so scared and frightened. Now he became this fearless fighter who will do anything to be rid of the curse that has befallen him. Well that is certainly a long way from a boy to a man in other words. What I love is how Hero is shown having his weakest moment in this episode as every protagonist has their bad day. Queen Medea is also very seductive and she tries to persuade Hero to use the lexicon so that the two of them can become immortal and hold all the power. Hero goes through all these tests of morality so to speak. Throughout the course of this episode we learn that Hero isn't into greed and material possessions. Above all that's what makes Hero a traditional protagonist, but these qualities themselves are excellent. I definitely guarantee that whoever watches the episode will enjoy it just as much as I did.
Altar (2014)
If you want to get scared, watch it
Altar is by far a good movie in terms of the horror genre, and I haven't seen too many films like it before. The strong points on this film are probably its special effects for the most part I think. I enjoy the eerie close-ups of the ghost as it runs towards the daughter of the household. Apart from that scene there were many smart moves on the filmmakers' parts such as the inclusion of many fictional historical events behind the existence of the house. I would say it's a pretty decent movie for the most part. The only thing I would certainly change if I were the one making the film is I would put more emphasis on the altar. I always wondered if it is more of a religious symbol or a symbol of the darkness of the human heart. In my opinion the worst part of the film is that it wasn't thrilling in some parts, and some of the scares that were used. I watched them and I believe that this is the case for some viewer's disappointment. In my opinion though I have watched the movie and I think that apart from this it deserves a higher rating than what it received. Therefore I recommend this movie to all those who want to get scared back into horror.
Olympus (2015)
The Other Side of Olympus
The story of Olympus is about Hero's goal to gain access to the doors of Olympus and become immortal. He plans to go further than most humans have ever managed. Hero's epic journey leads him through the darkest realms of Ancient Greece accompanied by the beautiful, but twisted Oracle of Gaia. Hero battles trickster gods, vicious monsters, seductive nymphs, kings and despots. What I like best about the Greek myth based TV show Olympus is the transition of Hero's character from a naïve youth into a coldhearted fighter and killer. Queen Medea on the other side of the coin is the best villain ever. She is the type of villain that we vouch for: ruthless, dynamic, irresistible, and sexy. This fast-paced fantasy-drama combine taking place in ancient Greece has everything viewers could hope for including nonstop storytelling, lust, betrayal, greed, and love. Monsters, nymphs, kings, queens, and despots completely dominate the spectrum of this series presents a glimpse into the darker side of humanity. So unless your like some people who are not into magical creatures, and dark tales of Greek myths do not miss this.
