Robot Dreams (2023)
Seriously don't waste your time
Is a continued trend nowadays to make unsatisfying films and I must say this one is just blatantly abusive of this type of unrewarding, anxiety inducing, anticlimactic piece of garbage. This movie is a one trick pony, I don't care if it wants to be different, I don't care if you're trying to send a message about letting go, if I wanted to see a movie about the hardships of relations and goodbyes there are about a million author movies that deal with themes of loss and the tragedy of time and what almost was. What really bothers me is that people are going to say oh it's one of the most clever animated movies , oh if you don't like it's because you don't get it. Oh I get what the intention was here and at this point I'm just tired about that authors, film directors think they're so clever denying us for what have induced on their audience , they must look at themselves and say , oh I'm so avant-garde managing expectations to then present them with frustrating and infuriating conclusions. I'm not buying the "it's the message that is important here" we already now what life is, we already know friendships come and go, we already know that we can lose everything special we have as there hundreds upon hundreds of movies that reminds us of that , even the same year we had the movie "Past Lives" which is basically the same movie , the same "life message". I don understand this obsession to "show us how life is " to go for the real ending instead of the happy ending. What is insulting is the the whole plot of the movie is just about building up for that moment, there isn't anything else but waiting for that resolution and that's why for me this movie is more presumptuous than anything because there aren't any other endearing plots, there any interesting sub plots, and is just trying to deliver an effect which was cheaply generated, and it's so cheap I had to write this review. "If you were in suspense the entire movie as intended by the director then you cannot say it's a bad movie" to the devil with those notions, it was all for nothing honestly , it would be a much better movie , much more humble movie if we were given the happy ending. Who cares about Cannes or the Oscars , if you make a movie make it with the heart don't make a movie we've seen over and over just to praise your own intellect as if you were doing the most unconventional ending in the world. I don't buy that this movie was made from the heart is just another "look how well I can make anticlimactic endings" and now it's in animation. We all have seen La La Land and that movie was great like because unlike here it wasn't built to just deliver an effect it was built to understand the characters their motivations, to see how complicated each one's hopes and dreams are. Here is just completely forced how they are separated by destiny that I want to throw up, it's lazy and uninteresting because the effect was all that mattered. What would have fixed the movie but again, the fear of the conventional was too much was to have the dog end up with the duck,I know what you're going to say, but the perfect ending would be if he develops a relationship with the duck, goes back to search for the robot , with the help of the duck, he eventually finds the robot but seeing that the robot is happy with someone else and so is he they both decide to say goodbye and part ways. But no instead he buys another robot and that's how he finds happiness again? As clever as the director thinks he is, this just means that the dog just doesn't want to be alone and literally a volleyball with a face painted would suffice him, making him and his relation with the robot empty and pointless in the end. He just made the character a lot less special and interesting. A less superficial approach , would have been stating that what he had with the robot was completely unique and special and not by any means replaceable ( he's already a robot for god's sake) but instead he sacked his own characters , saying " you know what , what this dog, what this robot want it doesn't matter , as long a they have someone they'll be happy it doesn't matter who, a random guy in the in street, a robot for sale in a store, who cares "That just made them and their motivations unworthy. And on that note I end this review, I hope this aversion to satisfactory and giving in to people's expectations ends soon. I hope you find this useful, cheers.
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
Terrible but very entertaining
It's almost admirable how this show embraces all of its shortcomings. It's either extreme naiveness or extreme boldness. Either way, this show isn't afraid to lay down its cards and it does so in a very entertaining way. That is if you can ignore the lackluster performances, ridiculous plot, lame storytelling, old-fashioned cinematography, and a soundtrack that would embarrass most Texans. However, it is nonapologetic for what it is. It doesn't try to be more than just a simple collection of moral tales where doing the right thing always pays off and in that sense, it is a heartwarming show with over-the-top heroic moments in a time where no one would dare do something as unrealistic. It must be recognized for how it sacrifices everything for the sake of being entertaining, throwing everything it can at you to keep things moving in a highly anachronistic manner. If you were a fan of those highly dramatized 90's and 80's emergency shows this one is for you.

Best tennis movie I've seen
I think what's most stellar about this film is how well it depicts what it means to dedicate your life to an achievement that may not come. As an intimate view into the life of a tennis player looking to redeem himself, the internal struggle to make it all mean something after wasting the best years of your life pursuing an unreachable goal is a reality for the vast majority of sportsmen. As said in one of the key scenes of the movie most of the people who try will just end up failing and that's what makes it poetic, true sportsmen won't listen to reason, they will go to the absolute limit of their physical and psychological boundaries. The movie depicts this masterfully, expertly shot, emphasizing the brilliant performances and with frenetic and the most accurate tennis moves and plays I've seen in a movie (there aren't many tennis movies that focus on the game itself ). To some, the ending might prove unsatisfactory but I think it's brilliant if you get what the movie is actually trying to convey. If you're a tennis fan like myself this is the best non-documentary film I've found by some margin.
Watchmen (2019)
WORST ENDING EVER
You know Mr. Lindelof has proven now beyond all doubt, that he really doesn't know how to make a proper ending. It's really really bad and optimistic and doesn't fit at all with the tone of the comics. Is sloppy writing specially when you break your own rules (you don't have to believe, me take a look in the last episode and watch how ridiculous it is that a plastic lid can suddenly resist so much, you'll understand when you see it).Seriously, now I understand why one of the episodes is called "if you don't like my story write your own" Well I have Mr. Lindelof, and I'm sure there at least a 100 scripts with more attention and careful thought than this severely half-baked ending that is just so disappointing and telegraphed I just find it repulsive in every down to every last "justice is served" moment. That Lindelof is able to run an expensive show doesn't make him a better writer or a better storyteller, and that's why all the indie filmmakers need to really step up because after seeing this I can say that we really need them to.
