Van Helsing (2016)
Time to Go
I used to like this show as it was a different take on the VanHesing characte. But with out Kelly Overton the show has gotten so weak that it no longer stands up. The loss of the lead character in this case should have been it's end but I guess they'll milk it for all it's worth. As I said time to go.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Disapointed
I had high hopes for this movie being a mainstream film with a great director and an interesting cast. Not bad acting lots of really well done special effects but the problem was it was to predictable. We took bets within 20 minutes of the start as to who was going to survive and even what order they would die and were not wrong on any of it. We even predicted the ending which shows Hollywood writers are getting lazy and hoping foe a sequel,. If a sequel is planned I hope they leave some surprises in it so we could be entertained.
Percy (2020)
Hometown News
Being from Saskatoon just west of Bruno Sask. I remember this story well and think this man is more than a local hero he's an international hero. To stand up against a major Goliath of a corporation as he did took more guts than most people have .I have family who farm in Sask. And Ab. And one who runs a minor seed and feed company West of Saskatoon and the outcome of this case impacted them as well .He to me should be held in the highest regard alongside. Erin Brockovich and others who stood up for what is right but because this was a story that took place in Canada rather than the U. S. A. It is not as well known. Erin Brockovich Stands up against giants but does not have a dog in the fight as Percy did and had a lot more press coverage to feed a larger group. So for a small time Farmer and community he is the gIant.
Rutherford Falls (2021)
Not a dry Eye In the House
20 minutes in I started crying. Because that's 20 minutes I could have watched paint dry watched the neighbourhood cats walk by count city buses you know anything else that could even be slightly more of a better time than watching this drivel. I admit I didn't get past the 1st 20 minutes but really did I want to ? NO. 20minutes and the show hadn't grabbed me in any way. Like c'mon the opening scene a women speeding and hitting the statue ? 1st of all is she blind, texting or on her phone? How could she not see something that size. Also if anyone else noticed where was she speeding to? It was a 3 way intersection and directly ahead of her was an (albeit paved) lane way. Somebody should be fired over that faux pa. I was expecting a lot more from this cast but I guess there's no getting over bad writing, directing or location scouts or editors that are inept. Will avoid this show and go back to anything else. Hey the 1st coat of paint is almost dry.
Black Lightning (2018)
Superhero?Super boring
Way to much predictable drama and very poor acting possibly because of the poor writing. When are writters going to give us a show that belongs in the 21st century and not rehash pld smallville and the failed aquaman premise. It's amazing when a show rethinks this ang possbly improves but wih this one I don't think so.
Me, Myself and I (2017)
Refreshing concept
Just when I thought writers and producers ran out of ideas. Great all around cast and fantastic writing. With John Larroquette how can you go wrong. At first I was Leary about a story about 3 periods in 1 mans life but was completely entertained and am waiting for more. Even the step brother and stepfather was not what I was expecting , nice surprise. Been a while since a new TV drama ( light hearted as this may be) has made me want to write anything in response to it .I don't want to give any spoilers other than what I have just watch for yourself.
David Bowie: The Last Five Years (2017)
Absolutely Brilliant
Being born in 1960 I had the privilege of listening to David Bowie and watching his TV and movie performances for most of my life. This documentary really shows his ability and love of his craft right to the unfortunate end. I hope many people can take from this who suffer in any way what true strength and heart can do. I hope even though he's gone that the current and coming generations will appreciate his pure talent was and I believe this film shows just that. Bravo Tony Visconti, Carlos Alamar and others who knew him for your support and help through his career and your presence in this documentary. Having those only who actually knew him and not others who can only comment on his talent was a relief. Of all the documentaries I've watched through the years about someone famous this is the only one I give 10/10.
The Call Up (2016)
Not Bad At All
For a low budget and a persons first movie to write and direct wow. At first I thought oh no here we again, cheesy. But giving it a chance I was completely entertained. They used just enough to keep you wanting to see it through to the end, fore I for one had to know what was going to happen and was not disappointed. I give this 8/10.The acting mostly was acceptable except for a couple of the characters but over all not bad for generally unknowns. Stick with it past the 1st 10-15 minutes and I think you would like it. This is a movie that should be liked by the gaming community especially as it will really make them want more from the systems they use, or maybe less? This last statement is not a spoiler for if you see the trailer or read the synopsis everyone knows it's a game.
