Reviews overly negative
2 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the movie and then checked the reviws and i really was not expecting them to be so low. I, for one, was certainly not expecting a cinematic masterpiece from a slasher movie. Considering slasher movies are pretty corny to begin with, this one was pretty good. It has a great soundtrack, a great cast, and its really well filmed (as in I like the shots and transitions). The plot is nothing new, sure, but it wasn't horrible. The characters did do dumb things (mostly the mum who didn't even attempt to defend herself from a slim teenage girl???). It had good horror elements that did make me jump. They did use a few jumpscares, but most of the tension was built through anticipation and slow buildup, whivh I appreciate. But overall, the conclusion was very satisfying in my opinion. So if you're looking for a groundbreaking, amazing movie, this is not it, but just looking for a decent slasher to pass time? This is it.

Personally, I loved it!
17 December 2018
There are a lot of very negative reviews and I can understand where some of them are coming from, as I do agree this show does have a lot of flaws and mediocre writing, but all in all, I still very much enjoyed this show. I binged it in one evening, and personally, I think enjoying a show despite its extensive flaws just goes to show how good it is. First off, I really don't understand why people hate Sabrina's character or her actress. I find Sabrina to be a great character. She's super extra and idk that's just how a lot of teens are. One of the biggest hits about this show for me was the entire aesthetic. I love that it looks very vintage in both fashion and decor (Sabrina's house is beautiful with the dark colours and heavy furniture), yet still set in modern times. The soundtrack is also very clever by mixing throwbacks with modern alternative. Another great thing for me were Sabrina's aunts, Hilda and Zelda. I especially love Hilda. I really found that they portrayed accurately what sisters are like woth each other, but much more extreme (as all the witches seem to be extreme). I also really liked some of the character development like Prudence, who I started off hating but grew to be one of my favourite characters by the end of the show. However, some characterization was wayyyy off and I feel like that's mostly with Sabrina's friends. Harvey and Sabrina's relationship feels super awkward to watch; they don't act like teens. I liked Suzie at first as I thought she/they was/were adorable but as the show progressed, the more I found her creepy. I love the inclusion of a trans/nb character but the whole thing with her great aunt was just creepy imo. As for her other friend (cant remember her name rn), I actually did kinda like her and found she had a really cool potential with her psychic shtick or w/e. Also, I see a lot of people compare this to Buffy (which I adored until Angel left and the writing got shiftier), but I don't think the two shows are even comparable. The only things they have in common are having blonde supernatural teenage girls as leads. So overall, I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who wants to watch it. It's a great way to kill time and you won't regret it.

Amazing film, but be ready for an emotional roller-coaster
23 October 2017
I was expecting more of a thriller movie, similar to the Lost Boys as many people have already stated, but what we got was a movie of the coming of age archetype. Honestly, I really enjoyed this movie. It made me laugh as easily as it made me cry (and it will make you cry. Trust me.) Personally, while being a girl, I have two younger brothers and I found the depiction of teenage boys very accurate, but I really liked that you get to see the emotional side of them. Idk I'm kind of rambling but its very good, you will love it but it will play with you (trying to find a way to phrase that without swearing is difficult). Totally unexpected ending, but very good.

Bratz (2007)

I actually quite enjoyed this movie
5 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty much all the reviews were negative so I'm here to shed some light. This movie was made with a 9-12 year old girl audience in mind. Bratz dolls were my favourite when I was little so of course, I bought this movie when it came out. I re-watched it last summer. I still love it. It has the same kind of ridiculousness you'd find in Mean Girls. It's cheesy but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I found the tunes really catchy (It's All About Me being my favourite). Many people are complaining but so what if they're all conventionally pretty, and like make-up and clothes? This is just a cute movie about friendship and standing out and being yourself. How could there be anything wrong with that? I agree many parts were unrealistic (adult freshmen and the whole seating chart thing), but with a young audience in mind (and a nostalgic teen audience), this movie is pretty good. There's really nothing much that's problematic in it. It's already a lot more racially diverse than other teen movie casts.
