The Voice (2011)
Not impressed
I like the idea of considering only the voices of the contestants, but I find the show very boring. I started tuning in pretty late after the auditions. The only people I have liked are Dia and the black guy (sorry I don't know his name). Everyone else pretty much sings carbon copies of the original songs... And the coaches don't say anything about it, they just say how amazing they thought it was. Its nice that they aren't mean like American idol judges, but they could offer a little bit of criticism. Except for those two, the show is a total snoozefest. Right now, I'm watching the final performances and they each perform an original song.. All the ones I've heard so far have been boring, including Dia's.
The Fourth Kind (2009)
First movie to genuinely scare me in a LONG time
I don't care whether the back story is fake or not, this movie scared the crap out of me and without having to be disgustingly gory. scary movies nowadays are all about bloody gore and remakes. This movie was a breath of fresh air and I'm surprised that a lot of people don't like it. It's likely the back story is fake, but if you ignore that and sort of let your mind immerse in the story, this movie is really intense and scary. I haven't been genuinely scared by a movie since I was a kid until I watched this. I think the reason it scared me is because it is something that could easily be real. It I will say that the acting of the little girl is down right bad, but that is my only real complaint about the movie.
Alice in Wonderland (2010)
Very disappointing: bad writing, unlikable characters galore
When I heard this movie was coming out, I was intensely excited. I didn't actually get to see it until today. I just need to point out a few things. I found a ridiculous amount of characters totally unlikeable. Tweedle dee and Tweedle dumb were just plain creepy. The dormouse was obnoxious, and I know she had a name, but I couldn't understand what it was that Alice kept calling her. The characters all interacted like they were long time buddies in a way that made me feel like the awkward new kid in a crowd of new people I barely know. I found Alice's character a bit dry at worst. That being said, I actually found Alice pretty likable, as well as the hatter and the hound dog. While it's hard to label the red queen as likable, Bonham-Carter did a pretty good job with the character.
The writing was okay at parts, and i did chuckle aloud a few times. But a lot of it was just plain bad. For example, when the hatter is "executed" and the cheshire cate appears with his hat, the dormouse says "Ches, you dog!". I couldn't think of a more cheesy awkward line than that. There are probably better examples, but that is the line that stood out the most to me.
Visually, the movie was good, but not great IMO. Toward the end when Alice is fighting the jabberwocky, I could actually see where the animation was manipulated for the 3d effects. I found this odd and it looked very strange since I was only watching in 2D.
I bet this movie would have been 100 times better had they just made a creative rendition of the original Alice in Wonderland instead of trying to create a whole new story.
Attack of the Show! (2005)
Just a bad show... It's just bad.
The hosts of this show are terrible... I've sat through the show multiple times and not even cracked a smile. These people just aren't funny. Plus they are just unpleasantly awkward and impossible to relate to. The skits are horrible, only made worse by their terrible acting and their capitalization on sex. I'm not biased by having seen Screen Savers as other people have mentioned... I am young and love gadgets and stupid random humor... But this just simply a bad show and I don't get why it is still in a prime time slot. Their short bits during commercials of other shows are pretty good because they are informative and short... But I change the channel when Attack of the Show actually comes on.
Eating Out (2004)
I honestly have never seen a worse movie
I could sum up this movie in just a few words: awkward, plot-less, and cliché.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste an hour and a half of your life watching this movie. That is, unless you enjoy straight men awkwardly pretending to be gay to win the hearts girls who unrealistically flirt with them despite the fact that the men have declared their complete gayness. This movie was a complete mess.
I seriously had no idea where the plot (if it can so be called) was taking me throughout the entire movie. By the end, I was just horribly annoyed.
The only remotely entertaining part of this movie was the main guy's ex-girlfriend, who is the only character who actually has a believable personality. She actually made me lol a few times toward the end.
Other than that, I seriously hate this movie with a passion. If you want to see a good gay move, rent Trick, Latter Days, or Boy Culture.
