Noise (2023)
Whaaaat???
This takes place at a mansion with expansive grounds, but no gardeners or housekeepers appear to work there.
One adage of good plots is "if you introduce a gun, someone has to shoot it." So what was with the ram head on the wall that was discussed, and the freezer in the basement that was the focus of a couple of scenes?
Why was the freezer full of food if the owner had been in a retirement home for years and nobody had been living there?
Why were the very different ethnicities of the female lead and her brother not explained?
Why did the best friend of the woman who committed suicide (not a spoiler...there's a suicide warning before the movie begins) stop talking to her a year before she died, and have no contact with her son all those years?
How can someone keep digging a hole deep enough to drown in when the water covers their head?
Where were the bodies? Were there bodies?
And then there's the ending...what ending?
Perfect Match: Love It or Leave It (2023)
Bartise Looks Like a Muppet But He's Mean
Bartise Bowden has a high opinion of himself which is odd because he looks like Bert on the Muppets, and he judges women by their looks as though he himself was a gift. Nope. He's also nasty and is quick to skewer them for any perceived criticism of him. Guys on the show however, are quick to call him out on his looks, and women about how the audience is going to view his actions. He was unpopular on Love is Blind but he came back for more. It takes an ego the size of his not to see yourself the way everyone else does, but maybe pushback a second time around on social media will clue him in and spare everyone a third appearance by him on reality TV.
Arctic Daughter: A Lifetime of Wilderness (2018)
The Initial Adventure was interesting, but...
The initial adventure 40 years ago was very interesting, but her life after the early divorce and remarriage was not, nor was the narration. We kept watching in hope that there would be something meaningful, but it was mostly a sad tribute to a son lost at 25 (and an odd adult threesome in the wilderness with a friend who left early).
Behind Her Eyes (2021)
Inane Ending
So sorry we wasted our time. This is a sci-fi thriller, and should have been labeled as such...we wouldn't have watched. The only saving grace is that the main character was adorable.
Grantchester (2014)
So Sorry We Watched Season Four
We loved this series through three seasons. The fourth is unfaithful to the characters, has absurd plots, and is poorly written. We won't be watching Season Five.
Surviving Death (2021)
SKIP THE MEDIUMS. The other episodes are interesting.
That. Dutch. Medium. Or, how to make a fool of yourself for the world to see. While her voice is high-pitched for "little Tommy" and guttural for Freda, they still have Dutch accents, LOL. Not to mention that the "communication" she shares are taken right off social media and Google.
Norsemen (2016)
Loved Seasons 1 and 2, Hated Season 3
Season 3 isn't funny. And it stretches credibility when the 40-year-old actors are supposed to be 18. We didn't get past the first two episodes of Season 3.
Cracked Up (2018)
A Textbook Case of Borderline Personality Disorder
It was difficult to watch Darrell Hammond's hard, cold lying eyes and occasional alligator tears. The only friend he has apparently ever had never witnessed anything, and there is no corroboration for his "repressed memories." Where is his sister in this story? Other relatives? Friends? Google the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder.
Designated Survivor (2016)
The first season was fabulous...
The second season was so silly that we stopped watching after 5 or 6 episodes.
Night on Earth (2020)
The melodramatic voice of the narrator ruins this otherwise fabulous series.
The photography is 10 out of 10. The narrative is excellent. What ruins this series is the melodramatic voice of the narrator. She's incredibly distracting and annoying.
I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore. (2017)
LOL Funny...But I Have a Warped Sense of Humor
This started slowly, but I was laughing louder and more often as it went on. And while I don't like violence...I squint or close my eyes at violent scenes in "normal" movies...I laughed out loud at these. In fact we went back and watched the bus scene again before continuing because it was so hilarious (not a spoiler because you won't see it coming). Totally entertaining and we'll definitely recommend it to family and friends with a warped sense of humor.
Empire of the Tsars: Romanov Russia with Lucy Worsley (2016)
Too Much Lucy Worsley
My husband and I got so tired of Lucy Worsley, and her two red dresses with matching lipstick, that we quit halfway through the second episode. A great commentator is either invisible or compliments the subject. Lucy was just annoying. Which is too bad, because the material was interesting. We'll look elsewhere for information on the Romanovs.
