Founders Day (2023)
I'm a little lost on this movie
This movie was interesting. The story was there, the murders were solid, but it was kinda random. No explanation of how some characters found out info, the music was very loud, the acting was okay...the mosh pit of protesters was weird. Was she in there all night? And then the cops found her? I enjoyed the sweets loving cop!! She was something else, and I would have given This movie more stars if it picked a a steady genre I guess? Horror, comedy horror, I enjoyed it for the laughs and the murders vs the story, acting, scene changing. Some shots were beautiful, others were yet again, random. Good movie if you like a good random 80s,90s,00, type movie.
The Horror of Dolores Roach (2023)
Murder, munchies, and gentrification.
Looking for something to put on and I couldn't find anything! Came across the title, I am a fan of Justina Machado, love horror movies, and Blumhouse! So this was right up my alley. The acting is good! Justina is a boss! She knows how to play this role a little too well, but she makes it look gooood! Right amount of horror, very dark visuals, tones, lighting, the scenes, all done in a way that adds to the darkness that hides under tone of it all. It doesn't come off right away as a horror series, it's almost a stoner movie, then it takes its turn. You really root for her to over come the prison life and her new horrors that come.
Scream VI (2023)
It's own chapter.
I truly enjoyed this movie. It went from being about Sydney, to it now being Sam and Tara. Scream 5 was the bridge between these two. That's it. This chapter felt like it was its own scream story. Even tho this movie still had a toe in the past, it was just that. Ghost face doesn't feel like the typical ghost face. He's faster, even more aggressive, and just feels like a new spin on him. The final four are so great that you build that fear of loosing them. Having Kirby back was exciting and fresh and even having the final og member around was nice and they even pay homage to Sydney with out her being the center of attention. A new scream franchise with out feeling like it's poking the dead one.
