Maidaan (2024)
need more films like these !!
Very good cinematography especially the football matches. Think everyone in the cast has done a good job especially the ones playing the footballers. They really take the movie ahead. Hindi films normally focus on the leads - but really appreciate this stance.
Rahman Sir, we needed more josh-wala song to up the ante during the matches.... Ranga Ranga/Team India did not do it for me :(
Priyamani has done a good job, Ajay Devgan is his usual self. Gajraj's role I felt was quite 1-dimensional.
The end-titles really made my day - providing a chance to have a look at the real stars who made India proud. Not taking a political stance, but too much focus and money has been put into cricket, but the real heroes are normally unsung.
Madgaon Express (2024)
Clean Comedy
Mostly a clean comedy - in comparison to the others in this category. 1st half is setting up the characters and a bit slow while 2nd half of the movie is a riot. One suggestion would be to re-release the movie without the songs - which puts a brake on the proceedings...
Pratik and Divyendu both rock in the movie, while Upendra Limaye is again a revelation. Pratik in the Cocaine OD is just too hilarious. Also Kunal has done a good job with the direction and writing. Everybody in the theatre were laughing out loud and having a very good time.
A Goa trip with friends is one of those things which everybody has planned for at some point in their lives but not everyone has done it - so this is kind of a relatable story. Go and have a blast with friends in tag.
The Bad Guys (2022)
Fun filled
With not much expectations, I took my 2 kids in tow and was pleasantly surprised!! Nice storyline and nice artwork I had a good time and both the kids liked it. My 11 yr old daughter in particular enjoyed it (she doesn't like animations a lot)
Monsoon (2014)
Good watch for those who love the monsoon....
Good documentary with brilliant cinematography. I had gone to the cinema with 1 objective which was to watch the Indian monsoon coupled with the 4K magic on the big screen. That mission was surely served well.
The music was good as well and complemented the stories being told.
The composer has made good use of 'ragas' to accentuate the scenes. Also including my favorite rain song-'Rhimzhim Gire saawan' was the best part.
Monsoon as a season has lots of memories associated for everyone, I would say and this documentary sent me back to my childhood days.....
There were some real characters in the documentary with the Meteorological director trying to explain the reasons which will make you laugh as well as wonder!!! Also the 'orange haired' person who overrules the MET department forecast to lay bets on the arrival of the rain make interesting watching.
This is a sure watch, especially sitting indoors in the ongoing Monsoon season with a hot cup-pa tea!!!
