Pretty bad
4 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline could've been good, but come on. Nobody dies within minutes by getting stabbed in the back with a steak knife. So ridiculous. In the first 2 episodes they screamed the word 'Angela!' so many times my ears were bleeding. And what an obnoxious woman. Thank God she died. In fact, they were all obnoxious.

I got my first cell phone in 1998 and it was a giant brick with a little flippy bottom. The little girl exploring the cave in 1997 was using a smart phone as a flashlight. People notice these things.

I usually love little british murder-mysteries, but there was very little thought that went into this one. It was boring and completely unbelievable.

This could have been UK tv..
21 August 2022
This show reminds me more of a good British thriller series (Broadchurch, Happy Valley), which is way different than an American one IMO. Anyone who loves/prefers British tv like myself will enjoy this show! Its slower with a lot of character development, interesting characters, some plot twists, and mystery throughout the entire series. Its more like an 8/10, but the low rating is unfair.

season 2 bullies
7 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 2, omg what a bunch of a-holes. They're all bullies in geriatric form. Tami's the worst. Unbelievable she chastised David for pulling some covers from her 30 years ago (which Im sorry, but it sure looked like a joke that EVERYONE was laughing about at the time) and then calls her husband to come beat him up over him not agreeing with her BLM racial agenda. His racial ideals were miles ahead of any of them, wanting to put race in the past, which is exactly what needs to happen for this country to find any kind of unity. Beth S is so condescending, constantly talking about 'fixing' him and his 'self-destruction'. I didn't see a problem with him other than being a little annoying and antagonistic at times. He got drunk 1 time and everyone is screaming alcoholic. People who are alcoholics dont have loving supportive relationships with their kids like he has. The rest of the cast are just a bunch of sheep. All of these people, aside from David, should be ashamed of themselves.

Not scary, not creepy, not worth it. Boring.
22 April 2022
Im not understanding what people like about this show so much. I have a feeling if MNS's name wasnt attached to it, it wouldnt be so well taken. Its one of the longest presentations of nothingness ive ever seen. One episode after another I was waiting for something to happen, a climax, a denouement, an answer, anything! What I got was a crying infant, yeah? A mildly creepy bible-thumping nanny, oooh! A chef who suddenly loses his taste buds, boring! House guests and dinner parties, who cares? A leachy alcoholic uncle, okay! Frequent baby-walking, yep its in here. Can't forget the big "creepy" multi-body bear hug at the end, omg corny. The show gives off the premise of something eerie, spooky, possibly otherworldly, dropping itself in the "horror" genre, but every episode goes absolutely nowhere, all the way to the end. In fact, the most horrendous thing about this show is Sean blindly serving his guests his wife's placenta at a dinner party. The close-ups camera shots are annoying- I'm sorry but especially Lauren Ambose's giant moles on her face, that are so distracting, the acting is over the top- esp. Dorothy, no human acts like that, the plot is non-existent, the food scenes are stomach-turning, and there's literally nothing creepy or scary about this (except maybe a few menacing characters plucked in here and there). At the end we're still left with the question, is it a doll come to life, or a stolen child? Who knows, but I'm not interested enough in finding out to bore myself with season 2 (and 3!).

6.2 wtaf?!
22 April 2022
Suspicious about 'extra groceries', really? Im a single woman who brings in 150$ (5-6 bags) worth of groceries at a time because I hate shopping. I end up with a lot of throw-away, unfortunately. He had 2 bags of groceries and she's suspicious of that. A stretch to produce a plot. That's the ridiculousness of this movie. I'm kind of shocked at the average 6.2 rating. This Is definitely a far-below-average movie. The dialogue is corny, the plot, stupid, the 'based on a true story', absurd, the acting, OTT and subpar, it's totally corny. I've seen FAR better movies with a lesser rating.. perhaps people are rating on a Lifetime movie scale? If you enjoy the after school soap opera, maybe its great. If not, don't bother.

Cringey but I kinda like it lol
8 April 2022
I'm a reality show addict, like most girls... I'm not even sure why that is.... its all so cringey. The show is so cringey, but I'll watch it!! I'm not sure how real this show is, but it's kinda ridiculous. When you first meet a "date", everyone puts on a front. Guys act like they care about your feelings and girls act like they're willing to cook, clean, and rear the children at the same time freaky in the sheets. EVERYONE does this, but nobody seems to remember 2 years later in their relationships.. Its funny how these people go into this show 'believing' one thing, but as soon as they meet someone else they're attracted to, their 'beliefs' suddenly change. So comparing someone you're with for 2 years to someone you first meet is just absurd in thinking they're 'different'.. YOUR PARTNER ONCE DID THIS TOO!! Are these people naive af?! Looking for their 15 min (Alexis and Hunter obviously)?! Who knows? But I'll keep watching!

Don't understand how this show is an 8!
22 March 2022
It's just not that great. It's super corny, it's not funny at all, and the acting is sub-par at best. The 2 main girls on the show are both aweful and annoying! It's an interesting concept that could have been pulled off great with some real humor and a better cast. I give it a 6, because I did watch it all the way through and people who come on here giving something a 1 that sat and watched the whole show are imbeciles.

Stupid filler
20 January 2022
The 2 start-up relationships in the show just don't need to be there and are so bad and unbelievable it just makes it all that much worse to watch. The old anxiety-ridden detective and the flakey lead witness. Cringe. The hot late-20s male detective falling for his fellow female counterpart who looks twice as old as him and oozes desperation and jealousy at every encounter he has with any other female. I mean does this lady wash her hair? Yeah ok, that's believable. Oh did I mention she's desperate for a child and turns up pregnant a week into them dating? SO CRINGEY! Laughable police work, horrendous dialogue, long drawn out, basic and boring storyline. I normally love British crim dramas (Happy Valley, Broadchurch), but this 8 part series could literally have been cut to 3. Yawn.

Should be called 'Like Island'
7 December 2021
"Like do you like like me or like do you like the new girl?"... "It's like not that like I dont like you because like I do like you, but like..." Brace yourself, if you plan on watching this show, to hear a whole lot of conversations just like that! I don't even know how these people find the time to actually get to know each other with how much they say the word 'like'. Must take ages. And watching them make out is disgusting. I dont mind a bit of PDA but every kiss is turned into an attempt at a porn audition. Nobody wants to see full on tongues flailing and slobber flying. It's not sexy or passionate it's nasty. In my final thought, the narrator on this US version is dreadfully annoying and not a single bit funny. I wouldn't expect him to live up to Ian from the British version, who is hilarious, but this guy is a complete joke, and I'm not talking about his jokes. I like the British version of Love Island, but we can add this to the long list of British shows that the US attempts to remake that's nowhere near as good.... Shameless, The Office, Skins, Inbetweeners, Outnumbered, Fawlty Towers, even Ex On the Beach, and there's about 100 more.... If you're American like me, but have only seen the US version of these shows you are seriously missing the plot!

Unbearable people
4 December 2021
I started watching this for the beautiful houses and because I love Million Dollar Listing. Unfortunately these people are NOTHING like Ryan, Fredrik, or the Josh's so instead I got...

A guy that priced a 5k sf house for $35 mil that didnt have a SINGLE amenity. No bowling alley, tennis court, elevator, theater, not even a gym. He did it just so he could have a $35 million listing. Oh, wait ... it had a view. He gave up after it didnt sell all summer.

Another guy talks about nothing but his upcoming baby. Oh and "nipping it in the butt", yes, BUTT (he says this constantly). After his baby is born he bitches about how exhausted he is while he's sipping a drink at a party while 'working'. Really bro? Perhaps you should try digging ditches for a living and reevaluate your situation.

Peggy, the only woman, is a God awful immature and unprofessional drama queen. She got so butt hurt from being uninvited to a listing party she showed up anyways and went off on 2 other brokers in front of a whole party of buyers. Just wow.

These people are unbearable. They've obviously all been born with a silver spoon and they're looking to upgrade to platinum after being in real estate for less than a year. Not one of them is professional, charming, intelligent or interesting in any way. Theres no way anyone would trust them to sell houses of this calibur. So fake.

This is the most corny thing I've ever seen. It is just atrociously bad. I mean there's nothing else really to say about it. I've never understood the fascination with M. Night anyways, the only really good movie he's ever made was The Sixth Sense. He makes a bunch of nonsensical weird movies that really lack any real imagination. This garbage is a perfect example.

Who is watching this?!
9 November 2021
I'm actually shocked by all the stellar reviews on this show. This show deserves NOWHERE near an 8.5. Everything is so over the top, the characters, the scenarios, the dialog. Not to mention, not one character is likable, aside from the 3 year old. Even the main girl, she has the biggest chip on her shoulder, she's rude to everyone that tries to help her, and makes the stupidest decisions. Even under her circumstances, she's impossible to root for or sympathize with. I'm gonna say this, even her 'abusive' boyfriend is more likable than her at times. I dont know who the audience is giving all these good reviews, but I'm a single mother who has been through some of these hardships and I dont think any of this is realistic. Not even the acting was that great. This is average AT BEST.

It's just ok
25 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The show is ok, it's just interesting enough to watch to the end. There's a lot of pointless filler that doesnt need to be there and makes the show drag. It's a stretch, too, that any DA would prosecute somebody for a crime, 1st degree murder no less, on such flimsy evidence. And where they even pulled 1st degree murder from when every bit of 'evidence' they do have, points to manslughter, 2nd degree murder at the most. Even the witness caller told a story of manslaughter. This is just a case that would never fly in the real world. The acting was good, the story just wasn't that intriguing or believable.

OMG these women..
20 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1: I love my serial killer shows; Dexter, The Fall, True Detective, Mr Mercedes.. This one however has something those ones don't, the most annoying female protagonist to ever grace the small screen. I mean they couldn't have written Beck to be more exasperating and self-deprecating. I've never seen so much self-pity in a girl who basically has it all. Poor me, I suck, you suck, the world sucks. That's all I hear coming out of her mouth with every word she utters. Shes constantly seeking reassurance, shes such a debbie-downer, even when she's 'happy' she's moaning about something and has this slapped look on her face like she's not allowed to be happy. She is the ultimate martyr! There is absolutely nothing charming, alluring or charismatic about this girl for someone to fall obsessively in love with, so at that the whole premise is a farse. I've never wanted a main character to fall victim to the killer moreso than here. Thank God she does because so far this is just another case of writers ruining a good show with a REALLY bad character.

Season 2: Oh goody, another one. Where does he find these women? Now this girl really DID have it all. A silver spoon, so they say. Yet so much anger and self-pity and hatred for her parents that gave her everything she could ever want. Just Gross. The only character I liked this season wound up dead. Good job writers.

Season 3: I tried, even after Forty died. This season sucked worse than I thought it was gonna. Talk about every rich-suburbia cliche written into a show. And boy did it make this season unbearable to watch. I got through 3 episodes. I hope they both killed each other in the end, but I'll never know. Bummer.

All I can say is...... Awwwweee!
15 October 2021
This is probably the cringiest show I've ever seen, but it's a nice change to the world of reality tv dating! Ive never actually met anyone with autism so it's almost painful to watch the way they communicate on a social level, especially their brutal honesty and complete lack of a filter, although I know they mean well. The anxiety and awkwardness is also hard to watch. I'm quite outgoing and I suppose I take for granted how easy it is for me to be in a social setting and I cant imagine having that much anxiety just going on a date. They are all vulnerable and brave and at the same time they are really lovely, sweet and funny people that are ACTUALLY looking for love, not 5 minutes of fabricated fame. This is such a breath of fresh air from the disgusting display of behavior brought out of humanity on shows such as The Bachelor or Love Island, where people are jealous and vile and have no excuse to act the way they do.

These are genuine people with huge hearts that they just want to share with someone special. If people stepped out of their greedy, self-absorbed lives long enough to take note of the kindness and respect exhibited by these young men and women, this world would be a much better place. Everybody wants love in their lives and these people deserve it more than most. A very heartwarming show!

On a side note, I'd love to see Sharnae and Jimmy get their own show. They are such a fun couple to watch and their love is just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen! If you didn't shed a tear while laughing watching their wedding you arent human :)

A very lightly based on true story of every addict
16 July 2021
As it is with most movies about opiate addiction, this one has a very unrealistic overview of what the detox process actually looks like. They make it look like a cakewalk with her in a dentist chair and jumping around with her kids 5 days into recovery. Very unlikely. I am a recovering addict of 8 years and that hardly measures up to my narrative! She claimed to be using heroin and methadone, let me just tell you when I detoxed off of methadone, I literally laid on my couch for 2 solid weeks unable to sleep, eat, move, even watch tv. I laid in a ball and wept. You dont even BEGIN to feel better until after AT LEAST 2 weeks. Heroin is a very similar detox, just slightly shorter. From either one it takes several months to start feeling somewhat normal and several years to feel completely normal, if ever. I dont think any film could ever fully convey the actuality of what it's like, but many have done it much better (The Basketball Diaries comes to mind). Anyone saying the detox was spot on was probably only using synthetic opiates such as oxycodone. BIG difference! Oh and to the reviewer who gave this 1 star, noting that this film is filled with harmful misinformation about 'forcing the patient to go through an unnecessarily painful withdrawal', suggesting the doctor should have offered her methadone, and that her makeup was way off, your review is filled with harmful misinformation. Methadone is the WORST thing to do for addiction. It is just swapping one drug for an even worse drug. One that, might I add, costs more than most people's car payment and isnt covered by even the best insurance. And if you ever decide to ACTUALLY get clean somewhere down the road, it's a far more painful detox than heroin, as it takes twice as long. Getting clean IS PAINFUL! And her makeup was actually pretty spot on for someone on heroin and living on the streets for 10 years. Addiction is UGLY!

I found the premise of the film, revolving around 'the shot', somewhat aggravating. It sends a bad message IMO. Giving outsiders some inclination that it is some miracle that keeps people sober. That it completely takes away the cravings. As long as she can get through these 4 'good' days (still confused about the title, as nothing is good about early recovery) shes made it and will never be tempted to use again and live happily ever after. I swear half the dialogue in this film is her or her mom saying "just ... more days" . Well, it doesnt work like that. If it did, drug addiction would go down, not grow at an exponential rate as it is. Because every addict would do anything for a miracle. Unfortunately, nothing gets rid of cravings except time. And a whole lot of it. Believing in this bs 'antidote' is a surefire way of relapsing. Only willpower and a strong support system keeps you sober. Another thing I found to be off was her naivety about addiction, the shot, her options for getting and staying sober, such as going into an inpatient treatment or at least outpatient. For someone who's been to detox 14 times she should have been much more aware of such things. It seemed like her actual recovery played a very small role for a film revolved around recovery. There was way too much narrative around the shot.

In other aspects of the movie, apart from the story itself, the acting was quite good. Mom was a little over-the-top at times. But I suppose some people might act like that. Hard to believe in Mila Kunis in a role like this but she did it well. It took me 20 minutes to even realize it was her. As stated earlier I think her makeup did the role justice. I have seen plenty of opiate addicts have 'meth' teeth (hell I've seen weed addicts with rotted teeth), as it's not the meth that rots your teeth it's the malnutrition, dry mouth, and lack of oral care. Which go hand in hand with every drug. It's just most notable with meth because you tend to not eat or sleep, so the malnutrition and dry mouth are more prevalant than with other drugs. 5 out 10 for the acting. The story was too rushed and sent a disillusioned message.

Cut back on the weirdness, maybe?
10 April 2021
This show had good potential... I was intrigued until about halfway through. Then the weirdness just spiraled out of necessity. It's like shows of today put this factor in (thx Jordan Peele) just to make it interesting and unique. It doesn't. It makes it hard for anybody to even get a grasp on. Wtf was this about? A black family ostracized from a white neighborhood? Or the demons, they themselves held within? Too much plot, leads to little satisfaction. I would consider myself as someone with a modicum of intellect , but it steers too far into the weirdness to even understand. 5 stars, for the first 5 episodes. An extra star for the acting, which was good, especially that 5 year old little girl. Nm, 6 stars for her. Kudos!

Blame the midwife
13 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This movie, while the performances were great was just stupid. And it's annoying this midwife was blamed at all. The prosecuting attorney talked about the public's hatred for her like she was Casey Anthony. Theres no way a case like this would even go to court. Theres absolutely no basis on why the midwife would be prosecuted. She didn't do anything wrong at all. Nothing. I mean the baby even came out alive and crying and as soon as she stopped crying midwife jumped to try to revive her. So I'm a bit confused by it all. Bottom line to all the wanna be progressive (or regressive, dependinghow you look at it) women out there in terms of childbirth, if you want to make sure you have a healthy, living baby in the end, have it in a hospital! Childbirth can be complicated, even dangerous, and women who want to have their babies at home are just asking for problems. 3 stars for performances alone.

Entitled millenials
16 December 2020
The movie is about a bunch of kids of this generation that think just because they went to college they should be handed good paying jobs out the gate. The true story of entitlement actually falls ironically to the main lead, Patrick Schwarzenegger, who wouldnt even be in the movie if it wasnt for his uber famous father. Boy was he terrible. Patrick, perhaps you should take some of daddys money and invest in a college degree. Or just sit on the couch and play video games like the rest of your generation.

I Liked this movie! Little bit creepy, sometimes more funny. A little, maybe predictable, but fun twist at the end. Overall good acting. I'm a sucker for anything made by the Brits though, I'll take a small British indie ANYDAY over Ocean's pick-a-number or anything else of big budget Hollywood. 10 because it deserves way better than a 4.8.

I only wish I hadn't watched this alone!
11 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Not because it was scary in any sense of the word. Nope, not that. See, the best thing about movies like this is having somebody watching it with you so you can make fun of it. This movie is boring and outlandish. The girl is a selfish dingbat. What person, let alone woman, goes on an 8 day trek by herself in the dead of the forest and brings nothing but a 4 inch carving knife for protection? Oh, and a bell. Her sister, who selflessly left behind her 3 yr old to take her on a cross country hiking trip of some kind of self discovery, asks her to take along a phone to relieve some of her worry, and she leaves it behind. Why? Because it would have weighed her down less than another apple? She deserved to get attacked after that. The acting is horrendous (the 'angry' faces she makes, lmfao), the dialogue sounds like it was written by a 10 yr old, talk about the least intimidating intimidating man ever, "olly olly oxenfreeeee!" I think they even ran out of fake blood for her severely burned hands in one scene. Or heck, maybe that was magic water she dipped them in. A mess.

Dreadful version of Inception
11 October 2020
Omg this show... I'm not even sure what to make of it. It makes no sense, I dont know who's dead and who's alive, what's real and what's dream, or when it's the present, flashback or flashforward. It's just some weird Inception copycat, minus the A list stars and blockbuster budget.

The second half seems to be a completely different show from the first. It goes from slow and boring to way too fast and jumpy. And I dont mean scary jumpy! The scenes jumping all over the place make it impossible to follow. Episode 8 looked to be set in the early 20th century and was entirely in black and white. Wtf. I have no clue what or who it was about or how it related. It was so weird. But by this time, I had almost completely lost interest and was playing on my phone.

Bottom line, The constant rambling whispering monologues throughout, repetitive scenes, unnecessary narration, nonsensical plotline, bad accents, and OTT acting make this a long, almost dreadful watch. The only reason it stayed on my tv is because I was preoccupied.

People reviewing this at 9s and 10s cant be real. (Maybe they were actually watching Hill House, which is significantly better?). Anyways, I read this the day after it came out and it had a score of 9.4! 3 days later it's a 7.9 (and dropping, it was an 8.0 this morning), I suppose because real people are actually watching it and reviewing it now. That makes it pretty clear to me that the initial ratings are fake, because the show didnt get stupider in 3 days. And I doubt the viewers got smarter.

Give it a watch for yourself, but beware of losing 9 pointless hours of your life!

Just enjoy it for what it is..
4 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show is really great, if you can suspend your rational beliefs and just enjoy it for the riveting storylines. I'm no expert on a womens prison, let alone one in Australia as I'm American and have never been prison myself, but Wentworth prison seems more like a retreat than a punishment. These women, including mass murderers are allowed to just roam free throughout the prison, including being left alone in staff offices, work areas, even in the kitchen with silverware, glass, even butcher knives. They all seem to be best friends with the guards, even the warden, especially the "top dog". They murder other prisoners and cause riots and are sent to isolation or protection for a week and then are roaming around the prison again. There's mass conflict of interest left and right. Their hair and makeup is always on point, and they often wear street clothes. One person is even buried alive, and pops up 2 seasons later alive and well. Well, not well, but alive! But if you can ignore the unbelievable, it is a good watch filled with drama and intrigue. Never a boring episode. The only thing I hate about this show is that every season ends in the murder/death of a main (and favorite) character. So you're constantly having to get to know and enjoy new characters and storylines.
