Surprise (2019)
"I grew these... fun bags"
Genuinely funny fresh idea on the comedy genre. Sure the acting is kind of cheesy at times but it's bloody hilarious, with non stop quotable lines it makes for a really enjoyable watch. Definitely worth checking out.
Replicas (2018)
High Art
Don't listen to the critics, this is Reeve's best role since Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. Everything from the narrative to the the cinematography is beautiful, pulling together to create a true ideological masterpiece.
Paranormal Farm (2017)
Orbs have never been so entertaining
Paranormal farm is a unique and significantly entertaining found footage horror layered with aspects of comedy, thriller and the paranormal. The performances all round are great from the couple Darren and Lucy especially considering it was all improvised and they were in fact not actors.
However the man at the helm of this project Carl Medland is the real force of nature behind this hearty horror flick. Having met Carl I can understand that this film was a real passion project for him and upon rewatching it I can clearly see that nothing but enjoyment has gone into it, and for that I can't help but enjoy it myself, and for that I respect it greatly. If you're looking for a fun horror watch with a couple genuinely jumpy moments then paranormal farm is the film to watch. I feel like this film deserves a lot more popularity than it's getting!
Love on a Leash (2011)
Fen Tien out of 10
Love on a leash is quite possibly the most fantastically confusing film you will ever watch, there is no possibility of describing the film in full to anyone as for the most part it makes close to no sense, making the Room seem on a similar level of filmmaking to the Godfather. However I feel a solid performance from Alvin Flang saves this film and helps it to score high as well as the soundtrack really bringing extra feel to an experience that cannot be described in any way, if you haven't seen it, just watch it, you'll need mental councilling post-watch but it's worth it.
The Florida Project (2017)
Great until the end
This movie is a fantastic look at a childhood in poverty through moving and funny scenes throughout and for the most part all of the acting is terrific, Willem Defoe standing out as the best of the bunch with a captivating performance at the hotel manager Bobby.
The film is consistently good (if not a bit too long) and is captivating for the most part, however the last 2 minutes are completely wrong in my opinion, I felt the ending of this film didn't do the rest of it justice, it feels rushed and cheesy and doesn't fit the film overly well. If not for this scene this film would have been an easy 8/10.
