The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Ignor snobby critics. Mario Bros is a blast for the whole family
The Super Mario Brothers franchise has been beloved by gamers of all ages for decades, and now it has finally made its way to the big screen in the form of an animated feature film. From start to finish, the movie delivers a delightful and engaging experience that will leave audiences of all ages grinning from ear to ear.
One of the most impressive aspects of the movie is its stunning animation. The characters and environments are brought to life in gorgeous detail, with vibrant colors and smooth movements that capture the essence of the iconic video game franchise. The sound design is equally impressive, featuring the familiar music and sound effects that fans have come to know and love.
In terms of storytelling, the movie strikes a perfect balance between humor, action, and heart. It follows the adventures of Mario and Luigi as they journey through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser. Along the way, they encounter a colorful cast of characters, each with their own unique quirks and personalities.
But what really sets this Super Mario Brothers movie apart is its ability to appeal to both longtime fans and newcomers to the franchise. It features plenty of nods to the games, from power-ups and enemies to iconic locations like the Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser's Castle. At the same time, it tells a story that is accessible to anyone, with well-developed characters and a satisfying narrative arc.
Overall, the Super Mario Brothers movie is a joy to watch from start to finish. With its stunning animation, engaging storytelling, and faithful representation of the beloved video game franchise, it's a must-see for fans and newcomers alike.
Bridgerton (2020)
Unexpectedly ok and watchable
Seems that there are alot of bad reviews regarding historical accuracy of the show. Once you get over the character's skin color and see them as a human being (which we should do) there is a romantic series here. The show is not a historical piece. Its a romantic story. There is something for everyone here, as it is in every production these days to attract maximum viewership. There is white, black, brown, Asian, straight, gay, femenist, masculine, skinny, fat, family, friendship and every thing in between. Don't be offended, think of it as a parallel universe. The other complain in the reviews is that its not true to the books. Guess what, I didn't know the books existed untill I came here and read the reviews. I see the series as a stand alone work. I have never read a romantic novel and probably never will. However, I enjoyed this series. It is romantic love story which brought tears to my eyes more than once. It is extremely simple and straightforward. Its colorful. There is not much mystery. Its just simple romantic dialog. Unfortunately, the series loses momentum in the last two episodes of the series and does not finish as strong as it starts. Its watchable if your are not too picky and willing to just enjoy rather than look for production flaws.
First Reformed (2017)
Reflection of Man on to Environment
I enjoyed watching this movie. Extraordinary performance by Ethan Hawke. First Reformed is calm, grim, and satisfying at the same time. There is so much to see and listen to. An eye opening movie into state of climate and environment and how it affects human lives. How much do we know? How much are we willing to sacrifice? how much can we do? how much do we care? when are we going to wake up and admit to our abuse? will it be too late?
Duck Duck Goose (2018)
Ignore low score, This is a good movie to watch with toddlers
At the minimum, this is ~1.5 hours om Jim Gaffigan. the guy is funny. He sounds and talks funny. I watch this movie all the time and it's still good. I watch it with a toddler who also pays attention more than he would usually. The art is good and cute. The story is simple which is good. There are some characters that are not interesting but over all it comes together as good family entertainment; specially, on those Sunday morning when you want to cuddle up and watch something. I will watch it again and recommend it to anyone with little ones.
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
"We Are Home!"
By far the worst x-men movie to date. I was thinking: "wow, the first x-men movie(2000) was AMAZING!". The movie is made for younger audience whom may not know much about x-men characters or what a "mutant" is. so many long, boring, and useless dialogues over similarly annoying music through out the movie. usually Ii fall sleep through boring movies, this time I was TRYING to fall sleep but i couldn't. where the movie loses real fans with lack of story line and misrepresentation of characters powers and back stories, it makes up with so much unnecessary over the top violence it makes you yawn. the only thing I remotely liked was Olivia Mann as Psyloke. I say skip this one if you get annoyed by crappy and money grabbing movies.
PS. Gene Grey is NOT the Phoenix. The Phoenix takes over genes body because it chooses too not the other way around!
Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Perfect Theater Night with Mad Max
OMG! Two days later and I'm still buzzing from this spectacular sensory feast. As a person who grew up watching Mad Max movies in my childhood and early teens, I went into this movie full of confident knowing George Miller would not let us down; and he didn't! In my humble opinion, this is the best installment of the Mad Max series. I was entertained from the beginning to the end. the sound affects and music are done brilliantly. the visuals are memorable. the story is simple but you are given plenty of time to understand the characters; even though, there is not a lot of dialogue. half of the story is in the characters eyes. there is a lot happening in this movie. I will be watching it a second time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Gotham (2014)
Best of a bunch...Top series for Batman fans
Gotham is by far the best series of all DC and Marvel series running right now (Arrow comes in second). Ben McKenzie, who is voice of Batman in Batman: Year One (one of the best Batman animation movies), does a great job as young Detective Gordon. Donal Logue, who I know from his weird role in Sons of Anarchy, is his sidekick. He does a way better job here. Many super interesting background stories to characters I didn't know too much about (I am not a super fan). I never looked at these characters without Batman dominating the story. You get to see the best Penguin and Riddler in television/movie history. The stories are interesting and character pool is huge. Acting is good and although "comical" never cheesy. I recommend this to all Batman fans and I hope you enjoy it.
Lucy (2014)
Pseudoscience with no direction...
Right away I knew that I had to really try to get into this movie because of the subject matter. Its a complete myth that humans only use 10% of their brain. There are so many loop holes here that it is easy to get distracted. Just more random killing and violence that I have seen in so many movies lately. One man, in this case a woman, army type. There is a serious case of overacting by Scarlet Johansson here. I didn't like her in this one. She is a real hit and miss. They try to use cheap tactics to keep you in it, but it just doesn't work. For example, talking to her mother or random out takes from Samsara or count downs. Save yourself some time and skip this one. Couldn't stop shaking my head when it was over.
Fury (2014)
Its not good.
Its simply not good at all. It comes across as fake. The movie is as fake as Brad Pitt's accent in every movie he is ever been in. That's not John Hodgman; its LaBeouf. the whole "in America, we speak American" scene sets the tone of the whole movie. the movie is an army ad for high school kids. the movie is just fake. their costumes look really fake and don't fit the fashion profile of the army at the time. they are some thing from a 2014 fashion show. same with their hair cuts. they all had perfect designer hair cuts. also, why did all the German soldiers looked like vampires and zombies? actually, i think this's the only scenario that could have saved the movie or even watchable, if the German soldiers were zombies lead by vampires. one last point about the goggles! they had incredibly clean goggles on their head the whole time but they never used them and they remain perfectly clean the whole movie.basically its crap made for kids so they join the forces.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
Brilliant and captivating performances and cinematography make an artistic masterpiece
One of the best films i have had the pleasure of watching in the past year. Strong performances by the cast, I mean each and everyone of them, makes every minuet of the movie so pleasing and made me asking for more. There is not much of a story here and ninety percent of the movie is shot inside a theatre; however, it is so interesting and mesmerizing you wish it lasted longer. By far the best Micheal Keaton movie I have ever seen. Also, my favourite Emma Stone performance as I am not a big fan of her work. The camera work is exceptional. There is a certain fluidity to the movement from shot to shot. Not only the scene changes but also the time and mood change too. There is a darkness full of of colours. If you are not a fan of "philosophy and long talks" this is not for you. The dialogue is so rich and full of meaning one can take so much away from it. So many life lessons here that everyone may interpreted in their own way. I absolutely recommend this movie and I hope you watch it.
Time Lapse (2014)
Capturing indie sci-fi
Over all this was a well done film. cinematography, colour, sound, music, and acting were all consistently good. This indie sci-fi captured my attention from the beginning and had me wondering till the last minuet. It is always hard to make sci-fi films about time travel and knowing the future as they usually become confusing quickly. That is because the human mind in unable to comprehend visually in four dimensions; however, Time lapse does a good job to not make things too complicated. At the same time, there are solid romantic and human component to the film. What would you do if you could see 24 hours into the future? I very much enjoyed this film and recommend it to all thriller sci-fi fans.cheers.
