great American snuff film - awesome
8 February 2007
OK, anyone out there who is a fan of exploitation cinema, don't listen to the other posters on here - the great American snuff film is a totally wonderful exploration of the mind of a sociopath.

sure, its low budget. sure, it doesn't have any of the graphic effects associated with films like hostel and the rash of mainstream so-called extreme torture movies. but the great American snuff film is artistic, intelligent and above all, downright disturbing.

I think detractors of this film have seen the title and the subject matter and have expected lots of graphic ecu torture and bucketfuls of blood pouring out of people's heads for their entertainment. but in reality, that really isn't how it works.

films like hostel have given people a distorted perception of what this sort of sickness is really like in reality, and, in reality, it is totally un-fantastical, and shouldn't just give the kind of shocks that can easily be washed away with another gulp of diet pepsi and another handful of popcorn. it is ugly, degrading and downright sickening. which is just what sean tretta's film is. To re-dramatize events like these to make them palatable to a mainstream audience to me is frankly insulting and exploitative almost to a point beyond the misdemeanors of the sickest sociopath who ever lived.

Oh and by the way, if you like Harmony Korine and Last House on the Left, Don't MISS THE GREAT American SNUFF FILM.

avoid like the plague

this is the film for which IMDb should provide an option for awarding films a great big zero out of ten.

basically, unless your shoe size exceeds your IQ, you should find something better to do with your hour and a bit. Like staring at a pipe cleaner, perhaps, or writing a list of your one hundred all-time favourite brands of weed-killer.

simply loathsome on every conceivable level - scary? nope. funny? this film is about as funny as an orphanage on fire. smart? it makes herschel gordon lewis look like an intelligent filmmaker. entertaining? no. so bad it's good? absolutely not. Head of the family goes right past being "so bad it's good" and just ends up being total garbage all over again.

rotten.

Cyderdelic (2002–2004)

total and utter genius

Just had to vote for this series. It really is truly magnificent and I am utterly amazed that only one other person has posted a comment. In these grim days of Little Britain and Peter Kay stealing the comedy limelight, Cyderdelic are like a stream of bat's p*s* - they shine out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark.

Marc Wootton has more balls than I can possibly relate to - the only other person who has ever come close is the legendary Chris Morris in terms of taking his character into the real world and making a total fool of himself to prove a point. Su Long has the potential to be one of the truly great comic creations of all time. I'll never forget the scene when he is having a major paranoid trip after Beetle Smith has spiked his drink with magic mushrooms.

Come on people - can you feel the magic? Simply awesome.

Oh and by the way, all I want for Christmas is my very own Frogger.
