Beautiful Disaster (2023)
CAMPY, GOOD TRASHY ROM COM FUN
It has that Y2K trashy, campy romantic movie vibes that I miss so much from the 2000s, think Coyote Ugly and 27 Dresses.
Dylan Sprouse was a joy to watch and I would like to see him in more mature roles where he's having fun. I thought his performance was good.
Virginia Gardner was also a joy to watch.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Dylan and Virginia, it just wasn't enough for me, I selfishly wanted more and more.
Beautiful Disaster is next to Holidate (2020) in terms of raunchy, melodrama rom coms.
Very rewatchable. IMO.
10 out of 10 stars. Highly recommend it.
I just like to have fun unlike y'all.
X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)
It was awesome
I went to see this movie in London for the screening event and it was awesome. Got to see the actors and it was spectacular! I loved it and this is perhaps the most X-Men movie ever (spoiler: we finally get to see Jean tapping into the Phoenix Force!!! And we also get to see some colorful costumes in the end) the reviews are mixed but watch this movie and enjoy the ride!)
The actors brought their a-game although Olivia Munn and Ben hardy aren't given much. However their action sequences makes it up for what they lack when it comes down to dialogue. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are fantastic as always. Oscar Isaac and Jennifer Lawrence are somewhat okay but not wasted!
The new kids on the X-Mansion are great and hopefully the next movie will explore their personalities. Each kid shines on their own and fans won't be disappointed.
10/10
Dracula Untold (2014)
Dracula Begins
I honestly love this movie. Once again the critics are so wrong these days especially when "Hansel and Gretal : Witch Hunters" (2013) was released in theaters it was poorly received because it was plain and simple the critics didn't like it because it was too violent, bloody and sexist. Yet audiences reviewed the film positively and it enjoyed the entertainment they were receiving from just like with this underrated and unappreciated dark fantasy gem "Dracula Untold". That's my complaint and now for my criticism, the movie was too fast paced I'll say, I wish that the movie was a bit longer: it left me wanting more and left with many questions than answers; although I like a bit of mystery I just wanted more. The storyline was okay yet had so much potential and needed some depth the give the story some heart. Luke Evans, bow down, is amazing, brilliant and wonderful with his performance, yes despite this film flaws, Luke Evans did a fantastic job and with what he could do and showcase his acting chops as leading man. Charles Dance was creepy and ugly (good thing because he gave me the creeps) and everyone did okay but Dominic Cooper (although brilliant in his own way) was poorly miscast. Not enough character development either for our heroic monster nor his evil master, it wasn't enough and the audiences were left wanting more from our protagonist; to let our Dracula breathe and show more of his character despite Luke Evans giving it all and that's a well respected praise for such an underrated actor. He showed range and it was satisfyingly entertaining this movie is all but boring, it's a fun action/adventure, dark fantasy, lite horror movie. Because of this I'm giving a 10/10. Yes I'm being way too generous, this movie deserved more (appreciation, reception) and overall it deserved more but due to its face paced but it's perfect direction, stylization, action sequences and overall captivating atmosphere, beautiful visuals and Luke Evans. This movie is worth watching, it's by any means no Oscar winning picture but another fine and entertaining Universal stand alone picture.
No One Lives (2012)
Good, Silly, Bloody and Gory Movie Ever !
I really love this movie and if you're a fan of the whole horror-action genre this is it. Sure I'm being way too generous with the review but this movie was fun to watch. I love how everything worked in this movie from the gore, blood, acting and just pretty much the whole production. Speaking of acting, Luke Evans is the real star of the movie and did what he does best : acting, yes despite its script, Luke Evans did an amazing job ! Yes the dialogue was at times generic, not weak, and at times funny either unintentional or intentional (be my guess). Luke Evans is pretty much amazing in this movie as he uses his talent to pull off some psychopathic charm to root for whenever he goes in for the kill. Adelaide Clemens is also a highlight of the movie and to be honest, her character Emma Ward was the only character that truly developed from beginning to end. My only complaint is that no one has heard much about this movie and since its release it really didn't have much a solid reception at the box office when it was released on theaters which is a shame to Luke Evans, who's acting has so drawn so many fans and admirers from his years on Broadway to now films (Fast & Furious 6, Immortals and Dracula Untold); The Story/Script was okay but wished for more of a back-story to the criminals that held Emma captive and wished for more scenes with the mysterious "Driver" played by fine Welsh actor Luke Evans. The good would be simply both Luke Evans and Adelaide Clemens. The bad would be that there's little of character development (with the exception of Emma Ward played by Adelaide Clemens and Luke Evans aka The Driver) and generic performances from the other actors due to the script but with a movie like this you just here to watch and be entertain for all its gory and action sequences and might care less for the acting. I'll give this movie a 8/10.
Stage Fright (2014)
Silly, Funny, Bloody and Campy
I actually love this movie ! It's silly, funny and bloody. This movie is just a good old campy horror flick it reminded me of Sleepaway Camp minus that weird ending plus a musical. The musical numbers were funny. Hopefully this movie will inspire other horror musical movies in the future. Stage Fright is in the vein of "Dont Go In the Woods" and "Rocky Horror Picture Show" but this movie stands on its own. Allie plays Camilla a girl who lost her mother a famous Broadway actress, played by Minnie Driver, and longs to be just like her by wanting to take the lead in The Haunting of The Opera but she deals with a sleazy director of the show who wants her naked, Her brother who wants to leave for good, a boy who really likes her that borders on obsession, a mean girl who is hungry and thirsty for the lead role and the producer Rodger, played by Meat Loaf, who is on the edge of losing his camp due to financial problems is still convinced that the show will draw a big time Broadway agent to have him gain some personal interests that will satisfy him. The movie ends in a typical standard horror scare but this movie is worth watching again and again.
X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)
Good But Not Great Why ?
So this movie was okay I've seen many times and still enjoyed watching it but my only complaints are was that there wasn't so much scenes from the future I felt that the movie focus way too much in the past and as always not enough character development which has always been a problem for the movies the only characters that fully developed were Xavier and Mystique played by James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence respectively which they both did an amazing job and a step up I might say even though I assume J-Law winning that Oscar was given more time to play the shapeshifting Raven and James really gave all his effort for playing miserable Charles and took the lead as leading man unlike Michael Fassbender who stole the show in First Class. Rogue was cut off which left me disappointed but we'll be ready for the alternate cut of the movie on DVD soon. Quicksilver was a highlight. Bolivar Trask by Peter Dinklage was a missed for me because he wasn't much of a villain like his comic book counterpart not his fault but felt he was mishandled by the script he was given or was poorly miscast but the sentinels were the main villains of the movie although I believe ignorance itself was the main villain in the movie. It bothered me so much that Patrick Stewart and Ian mckellan, Halle berry great actors who all had little roles because of personal issues and or other commitments in other projects I would like to see more of Erik and his magnetic charm and powerful Storm herself have much larger screen time but nope. All the other characters were great but hardly some of them had lines mostly they just look cool and engaged in battle and that's all. But this movie was okay not a masterpiece nor a classic but a good chapter in the x men movie franchise.
Insidious (2010)
Spooky Good Fun
The first time I watched it I couldn't sleep at night. Sure this movie is unoriginal which is unfair because of similarities of other movies with similar plots but this movie is unique of its own. The cast were great and the atmosphere was just creepy for me. The lipstick demon was scary in the dark but later on it wasn't so much the movie was a fun paranormal thriller. I love how they attempted to satirized the haunted house theme with a psychic and spooky children. There's definitely a few jump scares either by just the music (which worked on me) or the ghosts themselves that play a haunting image in your head when you're about to sleep.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
It's a okay spidey movie
I really did enjoyed this movie seen it a couple of times and still love it. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinions just as much as I do and here's mine. "The Amazing Spider- Man 2" was really entertaining and good but honestly my complaints is that there was an overload of characters and it felt too soon to add the rise and fall of the green goblin and death of Gwen Stacey which left me upset by the way but hey Gwen was infamous in the comic book world because of her death and mostly because of that and oh being Peter's first love. I also felt like the beginning of the movie of The Parkers was unnecessary it should've been shown in the last film and serve as a mystery throughout the movie and have Peter look for answers like he did and continue on in the sequel which he did but it just left me confused of what's already known but it wanted to be shown in this movie but felt it was unnecessary and had more questions than answers and Electro was a miss for me, Jamie Foxx was okay with what he can do but for Max Dillon it was hard for me to like him and feel bad for him because the character came off as a cliché for villains. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were just adorable are two stars had charm and wit along with emotion and yes the dialogue was either cringe worthy or sweet. The Rhino was a good laugh to some but I was annoyed with the stereotype : angry Russian thug. Sally Field as Aunt May was a highlight as well from a struggling woman making ends meet yet finding the time to care for her boy and Felicity Jones was just a miss and Felicia was also another unnecessary adjustment in the movie. Dane DeHaan was at his best giving all he as to show a rich boy dying and becoming evil but felt the whole green goblin was too soon and was alright with what he can do with the script. For the next Spider-Man movie listen to the criticism and don't repeat mistakes and stop with the overabundance. Overall it was a good movie and I love this movie very much.
