Star Trek: Discovery: Battle at the Binary Stars (2017)
Second episode brings out the best of the new Star Trek spirit.
Second episode is really great, not that the first one is bad.
The new Star Trek movies which came out in the last years have prepared us for the new "vibe" of Star Trek, and only TRUE Star Trek fans have appreciated this. More CGI, more intensity, more realism brought to the SF part, more scientific accuracy. I LOVE IT!
Star Trek has never been so great ever before!
It really sets the backstory of how the Klingon-Federation Neutral zone came into existence by 2285 and the episode represents a crucial moment in Federation history.
The actors are brilliant, and brings what previous Star Trek shows weren't able to bring: Realism.
Realism to how really a Vulcan/Klingon would behave. Realism to the scientific parts of the show(Ships,Transport,Shooting). This is only possible by CGI, but only through a director's vision.
Please DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE DISLIKING THIS SHOW!
People do not like change, and such people will say only negative things about this show because IT IS NOT LIKE THE ONE THEY LIKE FROM 20-50 YEARS AGO. The opinions of such people should NOT BE TAKEN IN REGARDS AS IT DOES NOT REFLECT OBJECTIVITY, BUT ONLY THEIR CHILDISH SUBJECTIVITY.
Star Trek was always the same. Every show has done the same thing to the era they were filmed: Be relevant. Be relevant to the Science, Social norms of the society it is filmed in. People used to argue Exactly LIKE NOW when Star Trek Next Generation came with Jean-Luc Picard, because they changed the Klingons, and the vibe was different.
Same was when Voyager came out with a Female Captain. And same was for Enterprise for setting the action too early and "messing up"the timeline. Such people: WERE NEVER|ARE NOT|WILL NEVER BE| Star Trek fans. Such people only want to ruin the Star Trek experience for everyone. I have been a HUGE, COLOSSAL STAR TREK FAN for the last 10 years of my life. So colossal that I deny anything that has to do with Sci-Fi, and is not Star Trek (The Expanse is the only exception).
And please take my word: This is Star Trek revolution, and it is beautiful. Who doesn't like it: Is against progress and should be ignored.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
To everyone talking crap about my favorite show.
I consider myself a BIG Trekkie. I have been watching Start Trek since 2011, when I was in my 1st year as a student in College, and ever since I have watched every piece of Star Trek which was ever filmed, and I can tell you this:
Do not listen to people being critical with the new Star Trek movies, or this show. People do not like change, and most people like to see themselves as cinematography "experts", when they have no expertise whatsoever.
As a HUGE Trekkie fan, I can tell you I love the new Star Trek movies, and I surely love what I have read about the new cast of Discovery. :)
It was the same when Star Trek Next Generation came, which technically broke the original philosophy of Star Trek, from the Kirk Era. This show had the same impact in regards with Race/Religion depiction as it has with this new series. There is no exaggeration whatsoever, the show simply aims for it's sole purpose: A world where there is no discrimination of any form.
People are just idiots, and SUCH people are the ones that are REALLY ruining this show, not the show per-se. I am sick and tired of such people that consider themselves Trekkies, but have NO IDEA OF WHAT STAR TREK IS ALL ABOUT.
Please watch this show, and don't listen to butt-hurt idiots. They are not true fans, they never were and never will be. Their opinion is irrelevant and should be absolutely ignored. Anyone who has a problem with inclusion, differences in gender/race, is totally not a Star Trek Fan.
Also people are arguing about the fact that they are using so much CGI, that they are changing the Klingons...THEY HAVE ALWAYS DONE THAT! IT IS A PROGRESSIVE SHOW! THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN RELEVANT TO PRESENT TIMES!
The show changes, as it had in the past and that is why Star Trek is such a great show. It was always relevant to the times it was shot.
The Expanse: Dulcinea (2015)
One of the best science fiction shows ever done in history.
I can honestly say that this show, each episode done so far has risen above any of my expectations I ever had. Great adaptation from the book.
In a world where people are inept to re-enact a decent SF show, and where people only watch shows with topics for the masses(basically all popular shows now are only about politics, sex, murder) we get something for those who seek something more
- THE EXPANSE - :
-Excellent and realistic prediction of the future(politically, militarily, culturally);
-Excellent CGI for a show;
-Very attentive to scientific details(and thus, even more realistic);
-The show doesn't invent boring creatures from other dimensions, or tries to invent some over-optimistic or over-pessimistic future technologically: it is just a realistic-optimistic extension of the good/bad things which are happening today in society, in the case that we don't blow up each other;
-Very enjoyable to watch, you don't get bored one second. It keeps you connected at all times and honestly I hope we get a "Battlestar Galactica or Star Trek style", which means at least 5 seasons of this beauty!
I am so grateful that after boring shows such as House of Cards, Narcos, House, GOT, Suits, Breaking Bad, we finally have something about space.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
People like hating on sequels regardless if it's good or bad.
People like bashing on newer sequels to old ones which were great, because people don't like change, and they like to act like cinematography geniuses even though most of them haven't spent one hour in cinema school in their lives.
The first two movies of these new series were indeed not very well made, meaning that they were concentrating more on action than the complexity of the story (which is Star Trek's value proposition).
This movie wasn't very good, just as as the first two of this new series BUT! They brought back some Star Trek memories, and they used special effects for the good of the series, meaning they really did a great job on showing the warp drive, a space station, the team going on a mission on the soil of an alien planet, many aliens, it was really awesome.
People expect to see something similar to a TNG episode with Picard and decide to act like babies and give the movie like 2 stars when they're not satisfied,:)) when from an academic point a view, you can't possibly give this movie less than 6-7 stars. I gave it an 8, because it's Star Trek, and I love it :) People here are being subjective, not objective - take it from a HUUUUUGE TREKKIE fan. I don't watch Star Trek, I eat it on bread every morning. :))
So take it from a grown up, not a baby, the movie is OK, it's really not that good in comparison with old school Star Trek, but that's for old school fan-boys/girls, for the average Joe this movie could easily go to a 9 or 10 stars :) and in comparison with the last 2 movies, this really is the best one. Probably the next one will even be better! :)
