Blended (2014)
Loved it.
It's the right amount of romantic with the right amount of comedy. I'm a big Adam Sandler fan and a huge Drew Barrymore fan. 50 First Dates is a favorite of mine, naturally. If you're a fan of movies in that nature, you'll love this one. It's that awkwardly hilarious type of film from beginning to the end. It's exactly what I was expecting. Some people might find it tedious and average, but I really enjoyed it. It shocked me because I hadn't heard anything about this film until I saw it on this site. Since I hadn't seen it advertised or heard anything about it's production, I figured I would be disappointed and that it might be a movie that they were hoping wouldn't turn out to be a flop. But as far as I'm concerned, it's a great movie.
The Help (2011)
An Absolute Favorite
I love this movie for it's message. It's also a great way to remind people what America was like in that time period. I feel as if this movie extends further from segregation and more towards the fact that we are all created equally. The story is wonderful. The comedy was genius. I love everything about this movie. One person wanted to stick up for those that weren't being treated fairly and so she did. It was a brave thing to do. Especially when it turned her into an outcast. But did that bother her? Of course not. She set her own personal values aside in order to make a difference. This movie had me laughing. It had me crying. It had my heart breaking. Then it had me leaping for joy. I think everyone should at least give this movie a chance. It could change your entire perspective on life.
You is Kind. You is Smart. You is Important.
A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014)
Hilarious
This movie was exactly what I was hoping for. Hilarious with the right amount of raunchy. Definitely not something to watch with your children, which makes it all the better. I'm thoroughly impressed with Neil Patrick Harris, as I always am. Just his ability to look and be one way, but to act like the total ladies man in impressive. It should go to show what real acting is. The story was well put together. When this movie was associated with TED, I was thinking it was going to be another headache. But it was actually very entertaining. I would (and have) watch it over and over and never get tired of it. It's one of those that you don't get tired of too easily.
22 Jump Street (2014)
Huge disappointment.
It was exactly what I expected from start to finish. Not something that I was at all interested in. There wasn't any hilarious parts that grabbed my attention. It was as if the took the plot from 21 Jumpstreet, did some role reversal, and threw in some twists to throw you off. I knew exactly who the mastermind was as soon as they were introduced. It's as if you weren't suppose to suspect that it was the one person that didn't have a huge role. The comedy wasn't horrible. But it wasn't anything out of the ordinary either. I'm not a huge Jonah Hill fan. I don't find him funny. He's whiny in every movie he plays in. And he's super annoying. He needs to find another persona to take on in his next film. Just the uttering of his name makes me not want to ever watch another movie he has even the smallest part in.
Horns (2013)
Not horrible.
I didn't read the book, but I'm sure it's better than the film. Daniel Radcliffe didn't do a great job hiding his English accent. If I hadn't known him from his other work, I would have been able to tell he was struggling with something through the entire film. The movie wasn't all that bad. I had the ending figured out at least a half hour into it. So it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The story was pretty good and it had a bit of a twist so it was fun. But it's not something I would want to watch again. It's something to consider watching if you're a fan of films with a bit darkness and a bit of comedy. The movie overall was good for killing time. But it didn't keep me entertained. I found myself checking my phone, wandering how much time had passed. So it's a bit boring. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You may want to give it a chance.
