I really do hope this clever, insightful, and timely program is renewed for more seasons. Besides shining a bright light on the myriad missing and murdered indigenous women in this country, it delves into the relationship between power and money and its resulting corruption. We desperately need this kind of truth in the current age of the unhinged screeching 'fake news!' when they are exposed to a truth that they just don't like or want to face. Plus, the writing, acting, and Alaskan scenery are just superb. 'You don't need a bad guy when you've got a bad culture.' Looking forward to more. Well done!

Don't waste your time - it's just another story of a whiny (and wildy unattractive) white guy killing his wife and getting away with it. Looks like the UK 'justice' system is as big a joke as the US. I feel for Pat's family, they've had to live with this terrible loss, with no justice and no resolution. Pat's children are oddly never even mentioned, but what a tragedy that they were likely raised by the monster who killed their mother. Just so sad and infuriating. Really pleased the tapes were released though - nos the jury can realize their own stupidity and the world knows that Pat was stran go led by her loser husband and then placed in an in incinerator. I hope he is vilified and miserable as long as he's alive. A worthless waste of chemicals.

Interesting enough story but egregious miscasting all around. The lead looks like she's about 12 years old and what is up with the ridiculous fanny pack? Pass on this and the hours of your life you'll never get back and check out Shetland, Guilt, Traces, Line of Duty, or Field of Blood instead. Fine acting, complex and interesting plots, gorgeous landscapes - you will be glad you did.
By the way, full disclosure - I haven't read the Karen Pirie novels so no advance expectations. If there's a season two, I definitely won't be watching - there's much better content on Acorn, BritBox, and Topic.

I watch lots of true crime and this is one of the better ones. Good interviews with LE, family members, witnesses, etc.; lots of interesting background on the geographical locations. Tells the complete story but keeps the focus on the victims and how the crimes are solved. Hoping for more seasons!

Fascinating mystery about missing millions at a family-owned Texas fruitcake company. Doesn't take long to find out 'whodunit' but watching everything unravel will keep you riveted. It's almost unbelievable how it all went down, but humans are strange creatures. The featured employees are people you'd want to know in real life - warm, charming, and ultimately - so forgiving. Watch this - I promise you won't be disappointed. And you'll probably order a fruitcake, too :)

This show is clever and funny, with a King of the Hill vibe - not nauseating, insulting, and grotesque like some other popular adult animation. The low ratings and negative reviews are reflective of American society - most people prefer watching the same old bathroom humor/ lame 14-year-old boy pathetic sex jokes than actually thinking. A bummer, but not surprising.

... It's two delusional parents who have somehow convinced themselves that one son did not kill the other - in the face of overwhelming, undeniable evidence. I can't imagine the pain these people are in, but ... even the early childhood movies show the killer bullying his future victim, with the mom warning him over and over to stop. But he never does. In the 911 recording, he sounds like he's fighting not to laugh. WHAT?! All my compassion is for the son whose life was taken away, not the murderer who is in jail forever - as he should be. He should NEVER get out.

I started watching this by accident (thought it was a documentary, lol) and after episode 2 when i figured out it wasn't, i was already hooked. It's my favorite go-to feel-good program. While some of the high-school 'love stories' are a little formulaic/contrived, there's still enough good football, acting, plot lines, and dialogue to keep it interesting, real, and touching, give it a chance, you won't be disappointed - i promise. Enjoy!

This show has lots of potential! The characters are likable and intriguing, the locations absolutely breathtaking, and the dialogue rings true. It's a small English town so you just know it's full of secrets, lies, and crimes. Th acting is quite good, what this program needs is better writing. Solid 7, would be a 9 if the writing was better.

If these people had received the mental health care they desperately needed, they might still be alive. A disturbed young woman who believes that her 'pet' gaboon viper 'cares about' her is clearly not well. It's horrible that the victims' loved ones have to live with the traumatic aftermath.
I like that the program places the blame squarely where it belongs - with the arrogant humans who believe that they have some spiritual connection with wild animals who belong in the wild - not trailer parts or studio apartments. (If these folks were actually animal lovers, they would never try to keep them as 'pets.') Hopefully, the stories told will help prevent this dangerous (and idiotic) behavior.

Those children were failed again and again and again, by everyone around them and the multiple agencies that should have investigated further. If the skin colors were reversed, the two adoptive 'mothers' would have been crucified upside down seconds after the first allegation was made. An absolute disgrace on every level. My heart breaks for those kids and everyone who loved them.

The boyfriend killed her and his ex-cop brother (fired from the police force for his conduct regarding the case) helped him cover it up. It's tragic that there's not enough proof to indict, arrest, convict, and lock him up. The family's pain is heartbreaking and I hope their questions are answered and that they can bring Crystal home for burial.

These people are ridiculous. 'Baudi' is under the illusion that she and her pack of amateur sleuths solved some major crime, but they actually provoked it, IMO. She needs a hobby. One that doesn't included baiting serial killers. Sad, terrible series.

I thoroughly enjoyed McMillions. Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't find it overly long, and liked learning about the participants' backgrounds-it helps explain why they may have been motivated to get in on this thing. I especially liked the single mom with the little boy. When she described having to remortgage her house to get $50K for the dude to get his cut-*before* she even got a penny of her 'winnings'-WOW. I actually felt afraid for her. There was definitely a sinister, scary undertone here. Everyone interviewed was articulate and interesting, some more likable than others. Again, unlike some other reviews, I looked forward to the scenes with Doug Mathews-he's funny and charming and obviously clever and good at his job. All in all, it was entertaining, alternating between comical and creepy. A solid 8

What a tragic story - 8 unsolved murders whose investigation was epically bungled by this small town's stereotypical hillbilly police department. The families of these women have had to live with not knowing the truth about how and why their loved ones died. The level of sheer incompetence of law enforcement in this town would be amusing if there weren't real people suffering because of it. Bring in some outside investigators, the homegrown yahoo cops aren't capable of getting the job done.

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I didn't find this series to be slow-moving in the least - I was totally absorbed from start to finish. It follows Mrs. (Alison) Wilson, attempting to uncover the truth in the mysterious life of her deceased husband, Alec Wilson - spy, teacher, novelist, hospital orderly - who racks up four wives and seven children who never know about each other until after he's dead. (I doubt that kind of duplicity could go on that long today.)
It was heartbreaking to me that Alison dedicated the last 40 years of her life to 'chastity, poverty, and obedience.' It was like she was punishing herself for her husband's crimes.
The ending is very moving, seeing the remaining living children and their families. I hope they've all found peace and happiness.
