Temptation Island: Temptation Begins (2019)
Cheap
This is like some kind of continuation of the trend we see in many movies made after 2007, where they show in bad light either black girls or white boys.
The same trend you see in music videos and various series. Black girls are somehow always shown as bad. But not black men, only black girls. And same goes for white boys. It's hard to believe that's all just a coincidence that accidentally spread in so many series, especially those for young people.
Biased shows like this should be banned. Black girls are NOT bad. White boys are NOT bad. So, why is this artificial cliche constantly being pushed, since approximately 2007 ??
The Debt Collector (2018)
Pleasant surprise
I really didn't expect much. It was a pleasant surprise. Can't understand how a movie like this gets rating of 5.8, while movies much worse than this get a higher rating?
Everyone who wrote more than two sentences gave it a good rating. So, the only conclusion is that bad ratings were made by some software automation that cannot make text look like human wrote it.
Good ratings were made by humans. Bad ratings by software bots. Someone really hates good movies that aren't completely politically correct.
Under the Wire (2018)
A propaganda movie
A movie that is trying to show suffering of territory occupied by the terrorists. One of many propaganda movies defending ISIL terrorist, without actually mentioning their names.
What a true journalist would say is that terrorists occupied a city and forced citizens to fight against their own government, which of course resulted in the government bombing the terrorists and citizens which were now fighting along with the terrorists.
But truthful journalists wouldn't even be sent to Syria, because truth was the victim, rather than the goal of this expedition.
The Counselor (2013)
Don't believe the ratings, it's an EXCELLENT movie!
Finally a good movie. Just watch it. Ignore the ratings, they seem to be the output of a random number generator.
The acting is good, but the story is better. You'll immediately feel immersed into this world of crime, good and bad mixed and interleaved, just like in real life.
Vehicle 19 (2013)
Probably the worst movie I've seen this year
I've seen lots of B-production movies, but I definitely didn't expect such a horrible script, bad dialogs and wooden acting by Paul Walker. I had to check on the web if it was really him, because I thought I'm watching some amateur lookalike.
It's hard to say whether the plot is worse than directing, or dialogs are worse than acting, because everything is consistently bad. The movie has a rating of 4.9 which is unrealistically high. Realistic rating for this is 2.5 to 3 maximum. I gave it a rating of one to offset those unrealistically high numbers given by the filming crew, actors, their friends, and their mothers of course. Nobody else could give this anything above 3.
Bloodshot (2020)
Good movie, the twist will surprise you
A good movie that looks like B-production flick at first, until you learn why everything in the movie looks so weird.
Don't get discouraged by bad ratings, if you're not a teenager you know for a long time that movie ratings can be safely ignored. In fact, it's often recommended to ignore the ratings.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Horribly boring movie, even I could make a better movie than this
The idea of an invisible man, exploited in several other movies and series, is so rich. You can do whatever you want with it. You can make the plot incredibly interesting.
Unfortunately, this movie did none of it. In the first 30 minutes, nothing really happens. In the next 30 minutes there's maybe 2 interesting scenes. Seems the movie is more like a political pamphlet than a real movie.
I could actually take this idea, write a better script, and film a better movie. And I have no experience as scriptwriter or movie director. But I'd have no problems outperforming this.
I have no idea how did this movie get a pretty high rating, when it's realistic rating should be around 4.2 or lower. Can't recommend it even if they offer it for free. Two hours of complete boredom.
La Guerre des As (2017)
Best series about combat pilots of WW-I
Very immersive stories about the greatest aces from all involved sides of the WW-I with their best achievements, anecdotes and tragedies. If you like aviation you'll love this series.
Also, the visuals are amazing. You're watching those episodes and you're not sure if the entire footage is computer animation, or if there are real people and environments in it, but with special effects applied to them.
The airplanes look realistic, but a bit too perfect. Humans look realistic, but somehow surreal. They fit in perfectly with each other, leaving you guessing whether everything is real, or maybe everything is computer graphics.
The truth is, they used real actors, while the environment and airplanes are computer graphics, but melded in such a way that you can't say which one is which.
I'd expect this kind of dedication when making a 100 million dollar feature movie, but here each episode is made with absolute precision, paying attention to story, details and visual style. Congrats to the production team, actors and animators. I want them to do more series like this one.
P.S. Sorry if my review sounds like a commercial, but I really didn't expect much from a series about pilot aces aired on Viasat History. And then I was positively surprised.
Get Shorty (1995)
6.9 average rating? U kiddin me? This is a pure unaldutarated 9.0!
Can't believe that someone would give this movie a rating below 8 yet alone below 7. This is a classic, one of those movies that captivates you from the very start. And the actors... where do I even begin. This is a funny movie, but at the same time not far from Hollywood reality. Maybe that's why the movie rating is slowly been degraded. Because nowadays producers don't want an average viewer to know that movies are mostly produced by crooks. Crooks in nice suits.
Absolutely recommended. Funny, witty and with powerful characters.
Black Panther (2018)
Boring movie
This is a movie that will only be interesting to 9 year olds. If you're older than 9 feel free to skip this childish and boring movie.
Speed Kills (2018)
Very cool movie, based on a real person
This is a movie about a real person, Donald Aronow, who was in this movie renamed to Ben Aronoff. His life was totally exciting, which is depicted in this movie. John Travolta was brilliant in the movie, and the script is radiating with realism.
However, there are people who don't want the ugly truth to surface, which this movie is uncovering, this is why you find so many bad critics. They've managed to downgrade this movie from a realistic rating of 6.5 down to this miserable 4.2 (in June of 2020) which is totally unrealistic.
Relatos salvajes (2014)
Didn't expect much... and then... a pleasant surprise!
This movie has positively surprised me, from the very first scene. It shows crazy situations and frequent problems in which we already had, could, or will, find ourselves in. A mix of everyday injustice and subtle dark humor. Exactly the movie I needed. Highly recommended.
Eagle Eye (2008)
Excellent movie
If you like action, spy or sci-fi movies you'll like this movie. This movie should have a rating of 8.0 at least, if not more. That's why I gave it a 10, to offset for a few bad ratings that downgraded it without a good reason.
The story depicted in the movie is our near future, or maybe even present (considering that movie is now 10 years old). By the year 2025 this won't be a feature movie anymore. It will be a documentary.
Excursion (2018)
For an indie film it's pretty good, and ending is very interesting
If you expect A-production level of acting or special effects, you're watching the wrong movie. In fact, much like "The Man from Earth" the plot of the movie doesn't have many outdoor locations.
But that's exactly what's cool about this movie. Interesting idea, relatively good implementation (for an indie movie) and interesting ending.
The ending is actually a pretty cool explanation of a certain event that many people still remember. And those who were born later saw it on TV probably more than once. I'll let you figure out which event was that.
And if in the middle of the movie you think you know which event it was, you probably don't.
Terminator Genisys (2015)
I gave it 10 to offset the horrible reviews, while it's really about 7.5
For me, T2 was the best sequel. T3 was worse. T4 was total crap. So I expected that T5 would be unwatchable.
But it wasn't. It was actually good. Not as good as T2 but still a nice refresh after T4. So... if T4 has a rating of 6.5 this one is at least 7.5 (maybe even slightly more).
The only reason some people criticize it is because it insults their "cellphone" culture. It suggests that Android, iOS, Facebook, Instagram and other spying apps are the root of human destruction.
And for telling them the truth, they hate the movie. As is usually the case. I think those viewers should stop acting like little insulted princesses, and accept that this is the 3rd best Terminator movie (after T2 and T1).
T-34 (2018)
World of Tanks anyone :)
I liked the parts where it looks like World of Tanks (or War Thunder) gameplay. But like all Russian movies, it's got a bit too much theatrical acting. I'd remove about 40% of the movie to make it more action-packed.
Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2019)
Total disappointment
After the great first movie, this sequel is a total crap.
It's weird that first movie has a rating of 5.9 while this one has 5.0 (at least in June of 2019). It should be at least 7.5 for the first movie and 2.0 for this one. Nothing interesting happening in the sequel.
Nothing else to write about. Avoid this movie. Bad and boring script.
A Day in the Life (2009)
Fantastic movie
This is one of the best gangsta movies out there. Not only is the script fantastic, but everything is synchronized with excellent hip-hop music. A must see.
The only reason it got a bad grade is because it shows violence among black people. It's not the usual mantra of "white people oppressing the black people" but more like "black people oppressing the black people". Which is reality.
But if you make a movie about reality, your rating gets artificially degraded.
Still... watch the movie. I guarantee it will be one of the best movies you've ever seen (if you like gangsta movies).
Cold Pursuit (2019)
Excellent movie
Fortunately I didn't believe the average rating. Decided to watch it anyway. Good decision.
Because this is a cool movie. The only reason it got underrated is because one of the bad guys is gay. So naturally, in the year 2019 it's almost prohibited by law to make such characters negative.
Oh, even worse, one of the bad guys is named Jacob Ruthman. Those people are even more protected, they are almost never bad guys in any movie. I think there's even a special Hollywood commission that secretly censors all scripts for such character names, kinda similar to censorship in North Korea.
But this movie broke the rules. They made people who are prohibited to be bad guys exactly that - bad guys. Hence, it got degraded from 8.0 to 6.4 for not being politically correct. Isn't that a great thing? I invite you to watch a non-politically-correct movie. And enjoy it.
Love in the Time of Money (2002)
Wonderful film, it deserves a loth higher grade!!
This is a film that every movie lover would want to see. One of the best movies I've seen recently. It's 17 years old, so I can't believe I haven't see it before. Must be that I skipped it because of the horribly low grade, which is totally undeserved.
People who rig IMDB ratings should be criminally prosecuted.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Spoiled by propaganda, reduced its quality to rubbish
The second sequel has a few good action scenes, and it had potential to be a good movie, if it wasn't for the abnormal amount of gay sexual insinuations.
Those scenes serve absolutely no purpose for the plot, so the only logical conclusion is they are deliberate propaganda. Even the modified version that received PG-13 rating contains those scenes. It's beyond me how a movie like that could get PG-13 or be allowed in some countries.
So, one has to ask himself, what's the purpose of this movie? Is it to provide fun for the youngsters, or to be advertisement for a certain ideology, disguised into an action movie.
If they want us to watch a 2-hour commercial, they should pay us. Not vice versa. So... if the production house or cinema didn't pay you to watch this movie, then just skip it. Not worth your time.
Unfortunately, propaganda scenes are so impregnated into the movie that they can't be removed. It would take away 50% of the movie.
American Ultra (2015)
A pleasant surprise...
I had absolutely no expectations from a movie named "American Ultra". Sounded like yet another Austin Powers clone. But no... this movie is way better.
It may be tagged as "comedy" but the plot is loosely related to an actual government secret program that existed in 1970'es. Which probably exists today too, under a different name.
This is an excellent and funny action movie, if you like action comedies. It should have a lot higher rating than it currently has.
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
Even worse than the first movie
One of the most boring movies I've seen recently. Horrible scripting skills, huge holes in the plot, not a shred of science. I don't understand why is this movie categorized as "science fiction".
Fiction it is, very bad and boring fiction, but there's no science in it. The only way a movie with this boring and stupid script could reach IMDB score of 5.6 (at the moment) is if they hired someone to pump it up artificially. Without help from hired review writers its rating would be around 4.2 or less.
Skip this movie. There are more interesting things to do in life. Like sleeping.
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
Very intriguing movie, with a little bit strange ending
Nowadays any movie that is heterosexual is down-voted by the LGBT trolls. They protested because they were so worried about "human rights" and "abuse" in the movie. But in the prison movie they didn't protest against gay rapes. That wasn't abuse. That didn't violate human rights, since it's gay, right? They approve those scenes, but heterosexual scenes are violating "human rights"?? Damn hypocrites.
Dakota Johnson's acting wasn't "wooden" (as many paid parrots wrote). Her acting was actually pretty impressive. The way she portrayed innocence turned me on, even though I didn't find her very attractive at first. But the moment she started talking and posing, she became irresistible. She definitely knows how to activate prehistoric instincts of a typical man.
Unfortunately, paid parrots did what they usually do. Down-voted a good movie to 4.2 where its realistic rating should be around 7. Damn trolls.
Year One (2009)
Pretty good movie, I don't understand the negative ratings
This was a very entertaining movie.
You can find movies on IMDb that are overrated or underrated and this is one is greatly underrated. Realistically it deserves at least 6.5 so it's hard to explain how can it be 4.9.
After watching it I recommended it to all of my friends and followers on social media. Many have watched it with their friends and family and none of them had bad words for the movie. It may not be the best comedy of all times, but it's funny and never boring. When I told my friends this movie has a rating of only 4.9 they couldn't believe it.
So, what can I say: Get some popcorn and watch this movie with your friends, I guarantee you'll have a good time and positive atmosphere after the movie. Then please come back here and rate the movie, we have to fix this terrible grade.
