The Enfield Poltergeist (2023)
Very fascinating doc that remains objective
This is the second doc I've seen recently that has me questioning some of these "poltergeist" stories. Yes, I do believe in the paranormal. There's just so much we don't understand. But this case is so similar to one in the US. Also, a young girl. There's an aspect that makes it seem as though it's not a spirit or entity, but actually, the girl and something to do with excess energy. Things will move independently and fly around in response to the girl. In the other story, it suddenly stopped and people thought it was fake. But the moving objects etc began happening again after she gave birth, which ends in a murder conviction, sadly. . It's all very fascinating. Possible telekinesis? I do love how this particular crew did the doc. Recreating the house and scenes with the real audio. Must have taken an incredible amount of work! Once again, very fascinating and worth watching. I will say, I've also seen enough docs and read enough articles to know that the husband and wife that inspired the conjuring universe are definitely frauds. Not that some of those cases didn't involve real paranormal events, but I've learned that their goal was always money, fame, etc. They often screwed over the families and people that actually experienced it. Truly awful people. The truth of these events is much more complex. I would also recommend checking out the other doc I mentioned, The poltergeist girl. As well as looking into this "poltergeist girl" phenomenon, that involves females of a certain age.
The Missing Children (2022)
Why has no one seen this?
This documentary should be watched by all. Not only are over 700 babies dead, but the children that lived at this facility were horrifically abused. The unwed mothers were treated terribly and sent away, children taken from them.
The perpetrators responsible were a school of nuns from France. This took place in Tuam, Ireland. What you will learn about is more of the horrors and atrocities committed in the name of religion, specifically Catholicism. Shocker. What you will learn is, to Catholicism, getting pregnant unwed was treated worse than actual murder. But I guess it's okay for their nuns to murder babies with impunity. And of course, it was denied and shoved under the rug until they were caught. And let me tell you, the likely method of murder is utterly evil. Please watch so that these mothers and their babies and children are not forgotten.
The Curious Case of Natalia Grace (2023)
Despicable human behavior
First, the two main adults (as well as precious adopters) in this situation abused a disabled little person. I don't think you can get worse pieces of human garbage. Then you have all the surrounding ignorant and unhelpful people just making it worse. And to the reviewer saying as soon as they saw pubic hair they should have tossed the sge devil out?? You're sick too. I'm not sure why so much ignorance, but it was obvious she was just a child. And guess what, girls at that age can get pubic hair. Even their period. My god I weep for the lack of education in this country. Anyway, this poor child was horrifically abused and this "documentary" allows one of her abusers to basically tell the whole story the entire time. And he's clearly the worst liar on planet earth. The fake drama was some of the worst I've ever seen. He demonstrates how his wife physically beat this child and he just watched. Oh, and at the end, the son doesn't realize his mic is still on and we basically find out she was also pushed down the stairs, by the dad. Who blamed all the abuse on the mom. And again, he's the one featured. Why?? It's pure lies and garbage. I feel so sick and sad for Natalia. These people should be in prison.
Invasion (2021)
Unfortunate score
While I love the action packed alien film, I'm also a fan of many other genres and love a good character study. I think this show gets an unfair score because people went in expecting the alien movies we are used to. But this series was specifically created to be different than that. I feel like it would get a better score if other people, ones who don't gravitate toward the typical alien invasion film, would watch it. It's very unique as it's a deep study of the human side. Their stories. Before and after this incredible and horrible event happens. This seems to be a case of a failure in advertising and marketing it correctly. I don't know but I really hope more people will give it a chance. More people that don't typically think they'd like a show like this. But please avoid if you're looking for an action packed typical alien invasion redo. It's not that.
Yellowjackets: Qui (2023)
While I'm frustrated, this episode had satisfaction
This was the first episode in the season I felt a lot more satisfaction from. The reason for that, I believe, is this sho's strength is these characters together. The mistake, to me, is they go from past experiences, which the audience generally likes, to the modern day, and they have all these individual side stories, that are sadly varying degrees of disappointing. But put these women together, and it magically gets a lot better and more intriguing and entertaining.
So, while I've been hard on previous episodes, I really enjoyed this one because it reminded me that there's still a lot of magic and chemistry when all these ladies come together. Please stop the useless side stories!! Sorry, Shauna! I struggle through the side story with you and your husband and daughter. But yes, we want to see you and Lottie face off. Let's cut the excess, of the show, so to speak. These women as a group are the intrigue and drama of the show. Put them together. It's so much better. Thank you.
Yellowjackets: Edible Complex (2023)
Hmmm..
Is anyone else feeling like this show is now all over the place and not quite sure what it's supposed to be? The vibe is entirely different this season, as well. It seems like the writers had an amazing idea for a first season but they never actually knew how they were going to connect those dots yet and bring it together. And once they were okayed for season 2, and had to do that, they struggled to make it happen. Its a bit of a mess, no?. Not to mention how far fetched and unrealistic certain aspects are. I can suspend belief pretty far, for entertainment's sake, but this show is asking a lot. And as for that ending, all the girls (one guy), even the sane ones, have a mass psychotic break and thanksgiving hallucination while devouring Jackie? And the one adult there, that does have authority, let's it all happen without a word? He doesn't even attempt a what is happening?! Or okay, this is what we're doing. Lol. I mean, before there was mushrooms to blame. Also, having an actual discussion about whether or not, in their desperation, they should eat her, would make more sense. I mean, groups of people in these circumstances have done it before...the Donner party, or the Uruguayan rugby team whose plane crashed in the Andes. Anyhow, I'm just not sure where I am with this show now. I'll keep watching but massively disappointed at what could have been. Then again, it's only episode 2 so maybe it will come around. Maybe..
The Morning Show (2019)
Amazing cast, Billy Crudup is a GEM
So, all the actors, in part, absolutely make this show. They are all excellent. It's especially great to see Aniston in this role and see her really show what she's capable of. I especially love the dynamic between her and Mark Duplass. I adore him and they play off each other really well. Reese is great, as usual. I appreciate the edge of her character. It plays well with her perky, little fireball thing she has always done well. My favorite of her characters have an edge. But crudup?? Wow. He's is absolutely incredible and the most fun to watch. I'm excited every time he's onscreen. I can't comment about the second season, as I've only seen the first. But the first is awesome. Constant twists and turns and the tension always building. They have tackled the heavy subject matter very well and have been excellent at showing the complexity. From both sides. I highly recommend this one. Iss extremely binge-able. I got through the first season in two days.
Thunder Force (2021)
Stop doing your husbands films
I feel bad saying this but Melissa McCarthy was funny BEFORE she started doing her husband's movies. It's gotta stop. She's so much better than this. Really hoping she does someone else's writing in the near future. Miss the funny McCarthy.
The Wind (2018)
Great atmosphere, timeline a mess
I agree with a lot of others that the timeline jumps really middle the potential of this film. It wasn't done very well, so that it becomes very difficult to know which part of the timeline you're in. Still, it has some great elements. And I do love the overall story. I think researching prairie madness might help a lot of those confused by this movie. I mean, just put yourself in her shoes....I'd probably lose my mind too.
