Fan of Marling and Batman - some details explained
17 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The guy has Batman written in his name..how cool is that. Jokes aside, that duo of directors/producers/writers is one of my top 5 at the moment. The mix of mystery, scifi, drama, crime is one of my favorites and its not an easy mix to do well.

Anyways, it seems like they just simply topped filming because they burned all the money invested in the movie...i dont know how else to explain this horrible ending, haven't tried googling if that was the actual case or not. Doesn't matter.

One of the details is when the kid writes "terrorist" on another girl's backpack, indicating that the girl will likely be a terrorist in the future or will have something to do with it.

The black agent does everything to not leave visible evidence of her being in the hotel, no cameras, gloves, sounds.. She doesnt want to leave any evidence of her existence in this timeline.

The secret handshake was actually featured somewhere else in one of Brits other series or movie, I'm not sure where i saw it, but there she explained that every move is basically a symbol and the whole handshake is a personalized message or a way of communication.

Well... i just hope they pick this movie up and make a sequel or even better, a series. This way, it just looks like someone pulled the plug.. Very frustrating.

Only good for your eyes
2 March 2024
If I had to summarize the whole thing into two words, I'd say: overly dramatic. Obviously, the special effect unit did the best job of the entire crew. The sound was so damn loud and dramatic all the time, I had the feeling I'm riding a massive whale-sized speaker placed in purgatory. This kid Thimotee, or whatever his name is, is not up to the task of being the sci-fi Muhammed of the dunes, lacks charisma, acting skills and age. The guy looks like a teen, give him high school films to act in. I almost fell a sleep 2 times in the cinema, and it was a 1pm showing, so i wasn't tired or anything. There were some unexplained obvious plot holes which slapped my face directly and just left me dumbfounded.

I'm a sci-fi fan, so I was entertained enough, but I wouldn't give this thing a second watch, its very superficial.

Everything visual is a 10/10, audio is a 5/10 (pls stop using Zimmer for every blockbuster omg, all his music sounds the same and its horribly simple melodies with dramatic crescendos for the most basic scenes sometimes). Costumes are...well, the bene gesserit look awesome, everything else can be made out of homeless fashion.

To me, the Javier Barden character was literally the most important one, yet they gave him almost no time to develop whatsoever. He is the guy who hyped Paul Artreides up, without him Paul would never be an important figure at all.

The director was all about epic show, and almost nothing about psychological substance and character development - which are crucial to connect the audience with the story. This way, this movie was just nice to watch, and when the movie ends, you forget about it 5 min later. Is this what we want from epic movies now? Whatever makes you rich bro..

True Detective: Night Country: Part 1 (2024)
Season 4, Episode 1

Fortitude 2015
27 February 2024
Fortitude 2015-2018. Thats all you need to know. This is a sad attempt of plagiarism.

As a big fan of the first season, i call this one the worst so far. And the only reason why its the worst, is because the whole concept was taken from the show called Fortitude. People who never watched said show, might find TD4 interesting and differently cool, mysterious and ominous, or whatever, but the fact is, its not original at all.

I cant explain how some shows even after a debacle continue to resurface, and some shows after a great season just get shut down. Is the audience really a factor at all? I dont think so anymore. TD season 2 was to me one of the most anticipated crime show ever, but after watching it, i knew its never going to be great again..just above average maybe..but shows above average are being produced almost every month now...so whats the point.

S4 has absolutely nothing to do with the show called True Detective. As a stand-alone thing, its ok...as long as you never watched anything like it before.

Terror did a 10/10 homerun hit with their first wintery, icy season. Its 10 times better than TD4.

Mindless violence
23 September 2023
Love the franchise, one of my favourites of this genre, which is basically mindless violence and a simple revenge/survive plot. The last Wick film was rubbish, gotta admit, but this seems to go in a decent direction, they are setting up the story, giving us the main characters first. Looks and feels like a Wick thing, that's all I need for now. First 2 episodes are good, I just hope they don't switch up the directors much, it can lead to different styles in one series, which is almost never good. They should keep these coming, just like the Mandalorian series, for example; use a different character and plot for every new miniseries.

People complaining this early, about a show that looks very nice, are just delusional.

my first 1 star review
1 July 2023
I'm not sure, to be honest, if it's actually my first 1-star review, but I cant remember I ever did it before.

I don't have a clue why anyone in his right mind would want to watch more than 1 episode of this cinematic vomit.

I don't even have the right words to describe it.

Someone please tell this Weekend guy he can't act.

Someone please tell the writers they should quit writing and start stripping in nightclubs.

If you want dark and sexy and slow and weird, go watch Too Old to Die Young by Refn.

Imagine starting a show with the premise: mental issues are sexy. In a time when mental issues are actually being acknowledged after decades of stigmatization.

Look, this crap is just bad soft porn with a bad script and horrible acting. It's the most clear 1-star review ill ever give.

That '90s Show (2023– )
3/10
Bruh
19 January 2023
I stopped watching after the first episode.

I'm a millennial, so basically a 90s kid. I watched the previous show, it was fun to watch and i loved the characters then. I was cringing so hard while watching this one episode, i had to stop, didn't even finish it to be honest. It's not funny. It's not fun. Feels weird. Isn't authentic. Kinda like seeing Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a half men...it just doesn't work. Not for me at least, don't think i watched more than 1 episode of that either.

Successful originals should be left alone. Spinoffs are 90% of the time doomed from the start.

Absolutely must watch
19 January 2023
Ive seen the posters online, was avoiding the title for a long time, as it struck me as just another typical western, thinking i can watch a thousand different things before this. It, also baring the genre of drama, didn't help either. One night just decided to give it a shot and almost quit during the first episode, but decided to be patient, as i usually love a good slow burn. Hehe, twas a very good decision. Everything after the first half of the first episode is pure beauty. On occasions, beautiful brutality, or brutal beauty. A story of painful love, things unseen and felt deep within a person. Things that transcend this world, our minds and bodies.

Someone used the word MAGNETIC in his review, and it's truly the best word to describe the show.

Plus, i never liked Emily Blunt to be honest :D But she was perfect for this role, and it totally changed my perspective on her.

Bro movie
4 January 2023
If I knew the word bro will be used this many times, I would have had some fun watching the movie while counting the number of times they said the word.

Pretty bizarre not gonna lie.

Nothing new to add, like most people I was impressed by the visuals, and that's about it.

Story was straightforward, simple and... Boring.

The most entertaining moment is when a guy's hand gets chopped off.

I went to watch it alone, so I had time to reflect in my head. One thing I kept repeating was "damn that's a lot of details", complimenting the graphics in 3D.

Well, I didn't expect much and didn't get much so I think a 6 is realistic.

Thanks.

Oprah..but with dragons (edit after 6th ep)
13 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I love slow burns, and i also love fast burns. This show has neither so far, its like we have been thrown in the middle of an Oprah show episode.

There is no plot, just a girl (she's supposed to be 10-14 years old) who refuses to get married, but she also doesn't want anything else. She is basically a bored incel but ultimately gets seduced out of the blue by her uncle, and she drops her pants like there is no tomorrow (wtf). So, we have pedos, incest, dragons.. yeah.. That's basically what keeps the attention of viewers. Oh yeah, there was a bad crab guy, he got smushed by the pedo with a kindergarten attack plan.

I gave a 6 in hope it gets better and the story doesn't evolve around a frustrated woman incel and her emotions.

The Crab guy was the most interesting thing/character so far in these 4 episodes, and they killed him like he was a nobody.

Dudes, if you are not going to open a show with a bang, at least make a good story or whatever.

Ill keep watching bc i love the GOT series. But my patience isnt endless.

Edit after ep6: I'm not going to watch this anymore, it's just getting worse. Most shows don't even get 2 chances, I gave this one six. Bye bye.

What is wrong with people
4 September 2022
This is OBJECTIVELY a show that should be rated a 7 or above. People crying in the reviews are probably so used to having a super modern show, with super popular actors with perfect accents, and perfect styling and perfect acting etc etc.. Pulling up references of other shows with the same actors is also nonsensical.

I have never seen any of the actors before, to be honest, nor do i watch many UK shows. Watched this one in one session entirely, its fun, its imperfect, love the plot and characters. Crime comedy is the new thing nowadays, and i dont complain. "Only murders in the building" got me hooked on the genre, and i want more and more!

The only thing that was somewhat annoying is that few of the characters dont seem to know how to get a complete sentence out..like ever...so much stuttering going on. But other than that, its a very nice relaxing show that leaves you wanting more. Unless you are one of those 1-5 ratings, triggered by people with accents and 80s fashion.

What the f.
22 February 2021
It's a movie from 2004. It looks like someone tried to make a movie in 1994 that looks like a movie from 1960. Its horrible. I can't understand the good reviews lol, there is literally nothing to like here. It isn't fun, it isn't deep, it isn't artistic. It's like a film student made it with a 50k budget. All those people saying "ah the good old days" need to grow the fu.. up.

Marvel fan
18 January 2021
I dont know why are people separated when it comes to DC and Marvel. I love both. Watch all the shows, well 90% of them. Im not gonna watch this one sadly. The pilot should be one of the best episodes when a show starts, but this one really does nothing. Clues and all the little trinkets people see mean nothing, the story is the one driving everything broadcasted on TV, not hidden clues only few notice. I do not like the format at all. This is coming from someone who watches almost everything Marvel puts out. Ill give it a shot one more time around mid-season.. if it even stays alive that long.

P.S. after watching the whole thing I can only confirm what I've already said. No, it doesn't get more interesting after ep 3. Imagine having to watch fake commercials inside a fake tv show that is inside a real tv show. Everything is wrong in this Wandavision series. I hope they won't make new seasons. It's honestly boring from the first to the last episode.

Nerd joy
30 December 2020
Unless you are a chess enthusiast, this show is boring mostly. It deserves a high rating because it has nice storytelling, a good cast and...well, that's all. I can see the nerds wetting their pants watching Anya pull a Sicilian defense. I didn't wet anything, and I'm a huge fan of Anya since I first saw her in VVitch. I know how to play chess, but it's easily the most boring thing in the world to be played. To make a show out of it, kudos. I wouldn't have spent more than 2 episodes if it weren't for Anya. I actually stopped at the 6th episode, its just boring, I can't help it. Honestly, I don't care if she wins or not against the Russian dude. She only plays good because she's on Xanax and alcohol??? I gave it a 7, although I don't know why. Maybe because I managed to get to the 6th episode. Not many shows are worthy of that time spent.

I loved season 1 and 2. 3 was just okay. Season 4 sucks.
3 December 2020
My title says it all. First 2 seasons I rate with a 10, the third with a 6.5, the last season I rate 5, and I'm being generous. Honestly I knew it's going to suck after 5 minutes of watching the first episode of season 4., but I thought "it's Fargo bro, it must get better at some point... I managed to get to ep. 4 because I was bored. I'm leaving it there. Fargo is officially dead. R.I.P I will re-watch season 1 these days to wash away the sad.

WTF
25 August 2020
I'm a simple guy. I like things that make sense. Even sometimes things that don't make sense. This last season of TP doesn't belong to any category. Lynch took some shrooms and had complete control over the show. Reviews going either 10/10 from fanboys and fangirls, people who like acid and shrooms just like Lynch, people who like pretending they know exactly what the author wanted to say even though the author himself has no clue what he wanted to say -to 1/10 fom people who are frustrated they didnt get something watchable. For me it was clear this 3rd season will be a bust after just about 15 minutes watching. Long pointless scenes where nothing happens, camara just locked on someones face while he/she does nothing. Scenes that should last 5 seconds, last 20. And so on. I like slow movies but in this case the slow is pointless and meaningless. The whole thing looks like a school project. I stopped after 1st episode. Can't recommend at all. Loved first 2 seasons.

Nah
7 July 2020
I have never given so many chances to a show as I gave this one. I just couldn't pass the 4th episode. Kept coming back to the reviews, that was a mistake. The show doesn't really offer anything new or awe-worthy. My best guess is that most of these reviews with 10's and 9's and screaming MASTERPIECE are people under 20. I have around 30 years of watching shows experience and I'm telling you, this show is average or slightly above average because of the nice cinematography. I am part German and no, it being in the German language does not add any value whatsoever, it's a disadvantage if you ask me. It's a teen mystery show.

To pass time
31 May 2020
Show's alright, something different with a good cast. I laughed maybe 3 times the whole season but that doesn't mean it's not watchable. I binge-watched it. The format is ok, but it does lack a main story. The only thing keeping it interesting is the fact we don't know why his wife ended up in jail. The old "USA-good, the rest of the world- trash" is something they should really ditch, but given that it's a "military" show, and that the USA actually has that standpoint, I highly doubt they will change that. TBH without Malkovich, the show would have dropped to rating 5/10. I hope he comes back in season 2. Will continue to watch, its an easy afternoon "watch". People who trash it are just bitter or something. Weird.

Amazing episode

By far the best episode this show has had so far. It's a horror masterpiece. I can't even get my thoughts together how well this was written and acted. I'm amazed. Episodes like these make it worth watching television. Whoever wrote this....is deeply wounded himself.

26 May 2020
This is the first time I've given a show more than 2 chances. Actually, I gave it 5 chances and i never went more than 2 episodes. It just isnt appealing to me at all. I'm half German so no, i dont mind the language. Many people told me its a genius show so kept coming back. After trying this 5th time, I give up. The show seems to be mediocre with a good story I guess. I was also never a fan of teenagers being in the main role in a movie/show. Now I go back to watching Castle Rock.

Not bad
23 May 2020
I expected more but got just enough to binge-watch the whole season. It's light weight and has a decent story. Acting is mediocre with some side characters that bring more to the table than the main cast. The lead male role is the worst part for me in this series. They made a 40-year-old man act like he was 15. It was really annoying in the beginning but I managed to tune it out somehow. Other than that, it's a nice show and I will continue to watch season 2 if it happens. Have in mind the CGI is low budget but it's also not the main focus of this show, so...

Infamous Season 2
18 May 2020
I haven't written a review in a long time. Its 3:30 AM and I have just watched 6 episodes of season 2. How I managed to even come to the e.6 is a mystery, I guess I was hoping for a miracle... In my 35 years of existence I have never witnessed a series being killed this badly. Its like S1 was written by Hitchcock and then switched to S2 to be written by an amateur soap opera director. I swear to you, if anyone reads this, I am saving valuable time of your life. I literally had to stop in the middle of an episode because i was disgusted lol, and felt so bad for the otherwise excellent cast. How the hell did this get a season 3 is beyond me. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to give S3 a chance, gotta read some reviews first. Anyway, season 1 - good stuff! Watch it!

The only good thing about this movie is Alexandra Shipp's smile. Took me about 6 minutes to roll my eyes and skip parts of the movie. Cheap writing, cheap acting. Cringe-worthy try to bring Shaft to the 21st century. I'm just happy I didn't watch every minute of it. What a sad way to give a sequal to the smooth mr. Shaft. Sad... Sad... Sad...

2019 propaganda
13 June 2019
This show is in no way a 9/10. I dont know exactly how these things work but there is a certain machine that makes some shows and some movies on the front row of the media attention, especially on the social media then. I dont know how it starts, maybe with a good trailer. After that someone pays someone to write a good review in an esteemed magazine or website and then the youtubers take it over, having read about it in that magazine, it must be that amazing..so they go on and make videos about how the show is amazing (bet many of them didnt even watch it). Next step is comment section: the fans of the youtubers ofc blindly just accept the review of their favorite and write positive comments. And in no time you have the whole internet infected with something that isnt true at all, or very little so. I think I just answered my own question. Nice. Anyway, about the actual show: its ok, average. I prefer to watch Project blue book over this one any time. Chernobyl is watchable. No way it deserves more than 6. No way.

I have no idea how modern cinematography works. This movie made a goddamn fortune on bad script, bad CGI, bad directing, bad acting... I mean, I'm so lost in contemporary cinematography right now. Are the people dumb who watch this or what...I just don't get it. I like Marvel, and their movies are sometimes fun to relax and all that, with no brain action on the viewer, but damn some of their movies are really rubbish. I managed to watch 40 minutes of this movie, thats 30 min too much in my honest opinion. You can tell if a movie will be good in the first 10 min. I found this one to be ridiculous, i actually giggled at couple scenes that are supposed to be dramatic... I don't know.. Maybe it's me.
