Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
Really twisted
The acting was fine in this, and the overall plot was good (in general), and I always love looking at beautiful city of London, but this was really a sick mess of a movie. Not the least bit subtle. I could have done without the seriously graphic torture. And it wasn't just a little bit: graphic torture was a huge part of this, and little was left to the imagination. We viewers were hit over the head time and time and time again. This one is one for the crapper - don't waste your time. And what's up with the requirement for these huge long reviews now? A review doesn't need to be a master's thesis for heaven's sake.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
Daryl McCormack is amazing
Not only is he beautiful to look at, but he is an amazing actor. His Leo was fabulously sexy and incredibly charming. Daryl was brilliant on Peaky Blinders, and he completely knocked it out of the park with Leo. He and Emma Thompson were amazing together. Love this movie!
Cruella (2021)
Fantastic film!
What a great prequel for the 101 Dalmatians we all know and love! Both Emmas were brilliant, and the costumes and set design were stunning.
The Last Thing He Wanted (2020)
What a waste of talented actors ...
One of the worst movies ever. It makes absolutely no sense at all! Please tell me that whomever wrote the screenplay for this mess has gone back to their original job preparing taxes or developing medical forms.
Jungleland (2019)
Fantastic film ...
This movie is a tough to watch look at people who live hard scrabble lives on the fringe. It is incredibly heartbreaking, and watching it left me a bit queasy. I wanted so badly for things to work out for the three main characters, but it was impossible: bad decisions always produce bad outcomes. The acting was absolutely splendid, and Charlie Hunnam was especially brilliant. Mr. Hunnam is an amazing actor, and the nuances of his performance made the not particularly likeable Stan real. He seemed to inhabit the character completely, and added another believable character to his broad portfolio. Oscar nominations, please!
The Bygone (2019)
What the heck did I just watch?!
This had so much promise, and then went so badly off the rails midway through that it destroyed all the good that had come before it. Very cliched and just downright stupid. Really just a stinking bad movie. It gets 1 star for the horse.
