Blown Away (1992)
The movie isn't good but everyone was talking about it in '93
The movie isn't really good but, as a senior in high school in 93, this was something everyone was talking about for about a month with friends lending out copies of the movie they recorded so everyone who didn't have premium movie channels could watch it. That's about it.
Tray: A Cut of Culture (2017)
Is the ever coming out?
Just curious if this will ever see the light of day. Years ago it was the talk of the Northeast Pennsylvania area yet nothing has been mentioned in a few years.
Bubble Butt (2017)
Where can we find this movie?
It says it's been completed and has won awards yet I can't find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated
The Messengers (2007)
One of the funniest movies of 2007
I saw this in the theatre with my then girlfriend. It was her turn to choose the movie. Throughout the movie I was biting my tongue and lip trying not to burst out laughing. Nothing was scary or even remotely creepy. Seriously people, this is one of the worst genre films I've seen in the past 15 months. Though it was funny because the acting was bad, the story was unoriginal and the "shocking" moments were so predictable that I couldn't hold it in anymore and just exploded with laughter right in the theatre. After the "revelation" I just couldn't take it anymore. It was so obvious that Stevie Wonder saw it coming. This is the type of movie that helps studios realize that there is a problem with coming out with an original genre film so they will just remake a classic horror film.
Clerks II (2006)
I'm not a plant. This movie was hysterical!!
Okay, I have read many of the reviews on here and I have to say that I can understand why some people didn't like the movie. Some people get easily offended with some of the dialogue in Kevin Smith's movies. Some people probably were disgusted with Kinky Kelly and the Sexy Stud. Okay, this movie isn't for the easily offended. It is though the best comedy I have seen since last year when Wedding Crashers came out. I have been a Kevin Smith fan since the original Clerks hit the art-house theaters. I'm not saying I'm a ViewAskew mark but I have enjoyed his movies from the very beginning. You will have a group of people who just don't "get" his sense of humor. Remember the people who were up in arms when Dogma hit the theaters? Yes you have the toilet humor but you also get some of the funniest dialogue that can be found in movies today. Most movies rely on physical and slapstick humor if not toilet humor. Very rarely do you get a complete mixture of all of that and actually work. This movie truly does that. From Randall's description of Lord of the Rings which was hilarious to Jay's Silence of the Lambs homage everything kept me and the entire theater laughing until it started to hurt. Then the Porch Monkey scene just killed everyone. I saw it twice on Friday (got a free ticket for the day showing thanks to a good friend) and at both showings I have to say I laughed just as hard at each show. I never saw anyone get up and leave. I also haven't heard a theatre get so loud with laughter since There's Something About Mary. I think the general opinion was that this movie was extremely funny. So while I understand some people didn't like this movie I will not go and insult you like the detractors have to the people who liked it. As I said before, this movie is not for the easily offended.
When a Stranger Calls (2006)
This was supposed to be suspenseful?
As a thriller this has got to be one of the worst movies of the year. I seriously couldn't stop laughing throughout this movie. All I could think about is this being one of those movies that are shown at a midnight grind house style showing where everyone will be busting out jokes throughout the movie. That would be more entertaining than this complete waste of 87 minutes. Seriously, this movie is just so bad I kept laughing hysterically. With the overuse of "creepy" music you just knew that you were watching a really badly written "B" movie and that may be giving this movie more credit than it deserves. The original wasn't the greatest movie but at least that was good. This movie is geared towards the 12 and 13 year old babysitters who have yet to learn what a good thriller is about. I could go on and on but then I'd be just wasting more time on this pathetic and sad movie.
Silent Hill (2006)
Faithful but that doesn't mean good
I saw this movie and while I do agree that Silent Hill is the most faithful video game adaption to date I felt it showed the weaknesses of many games and that is character development. The video game itself is creepy and the atmosphere in the movie does give you that unsettling feeling at times but you are not given any reason to care for the characters. Silent Hill is a great game but the lack of character development was always there and unfortunately when you are adapting the movie I wish they could have fixed that problem. Is this the worst video game adaption? Absolutely not. Uwe Boll has House of the Dead and Alone In The Dark and those two take the top two prizes for worst movies based on video games. I will put it up there as one of the better ones but there are not really any great video game movies to date so that really doesn't say too much about the genre. This movie is definitely more of a DVD rental.
