POSITIVES:
1) The performances are great. Ryan Reynolds was born to play this role, whilst the supporting cast are all very enjoyable to watch as well 2) The film is hilarious. There are countless laugh out loud moments and the humour always feels funny rather than feeling cringey like humour often can 3) I do think the film does a good job at making us feel emotions when it comes to Wade and Vanessa's relationship and Wade's yearning to be with her in the afterlife. I thought the scene after Wade's "death" towards the end where the two of them are together again was really well done and actually hit me in the feels
NEGATIVES:
1) Tonally, the film is a complete mess. The blend of comedy, action and drama certainly does not always work and there were a lot of bad tonal clashes for me 2) Similar to the above point, the film feels like it's trying to juggle too many different themes, different characters, different plot threads - all whilst making sure it still clocks in at under 2 hours. This has the effect of making the film feel incredibly muddled and also like we're constantly rushing through all of the scenes without ever really taking any time to connect with anything. I think it's a classic case of a sequel wanting to "go bigger" than its predecessor and ultimately being worse off for it 3) Some of the special effects were truly terrible. I couldn't believe how bad some of the CGI was, it honestly looked like a music video at times, especially during the action sequence at the end of the second act.
