Silo (2023)
Love this show. Can't wait for Season 2!
I've seen a lot of tv shows, some of my favorite being GoT, Daredevil, Stranger Things. And this one is off to a great start. People now a days are impatient, not everything can be John Wick. This is a slow paced thrilling, mystery show. It unveils its self step by step, my kind of fiction writing. I'm surprised at how much I liked it considering it isn't much of an action show. But the whole idea of the Silo is very interesting. And I loved the episode finale definitely worth the slow burn.
And Anne Perkins is in episode 1! Lol
Also shoutout to the main actress character, Rebecca Ferguson. She's a gem of an actress. Absolutely killed it and hope to see more of her in season 2.
Andor: Reckoning (2022)
Great 3rd Episode to the Show
1st 2 episodes were a slow burner, but this is the pay off episode, and quite a good one it was. 1st off everything is high quality top notch. Something that was a huge problem with Boba Fett and Obi- wan, that those shows felt so cheap at times, from the acting, to the action, to the set designs, to the visuals. It didn't feel like Star Wars at its best. Andor never feels like that, I would say the visuals and quality are even better then in Mandalorian. The thing that can make Star Wars so good is the feeling of wanting to explore the universe, and Andor captures that perfectly. I'm not the biggest fan of flashbacks constantly being used, but it works here because it really gave us a sense of where Andor came from. And at the end of the 3rd episode, we really get the feeling that "Ok Andor is a serious space explorer." Which is exactly what you want out some of your main Star Wars characters. I think Andor will continue to go strong because it seems, this show is going to really carve its way into an adventure/ action show, and that's my favorite kind of Star Wars.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law: The People vs. Emil Blonsky (2022)
Are Superhero movies and shows not about action anymore?
Not a good look for marvel. The show isn't bad when it comes to the acting and dialogue. The story it's self isn't half bad. But it lacks so much in action that it feels unfulfilling to watch. They continue to ridicule there show with more corny humor. (Some of it good, but a lot of it isn't) I don't understand how Marvel has gotten to this point, I don't remember corny humor every being a thing during the other 3 phases. They really need to chill with that because it could drive the MCU to the ground. What was up with the action sequence at the end also? Why did it feel so lackluster as compared to other action sequences Marvel has done. It's as if Marvel is taking steps backward with their action scenes. The premise of the show isn't bad, it has everything to make it work, but it lacks in action so hard, which makes it unfulfilling to watch for me. The action in these superhero shows need to be more consistent. And I feel Marvel has been struggling in that regard when it comes to these shows. Compare any of these Marvel shows to the Daredevil show Netflix produced, none of theses shows even come close to being as good as Daredevil. Not even close, Daredevil is so much better on every element, and the action was soooo good in Daredevil, none of these Marvel show have even come close. I don't understand fans either who are ok with a superhero show for barely having any action. Let me see Hulk kick some ass!
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
It needed more Gorr the God Butcher
Why was Christian Bale so under utilized. He was the main hype about this movie. But felt like we only got to see him a bit in action. What made Thor Ragnarok so good was the dynamic between Hela and Thor. This falls completely flat in my opinion as the underlying connection between Thor being a god and Gorr being the God Butcher never really clicks, like you hope it would.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021)
Very confused on the bad reviews
From my experience watching star wars shows, including Clone Wars, Rebels, and even Mandalorian, this one has gotten off to the strongest start.
One thing I love about star wars is its adventure mixed with action, but to me what separates Bad Batch from the rest is its established narrative around Omega and the support of the Bad Batch around her. In clone wars, the show is always switching narrative from Ashoka to Anakin from Yoda to Obi- Wan, yes it makes the show great but it can get a little sloppy, hence so many filler episodes in clone wars (like the ones that were about the droids). Rebels in my opinion never really takes off until the 3rd season, no real story line I believe took place before that. It was just them always running into trouble. And Mandalorian in my opinion yes its good but all the storyline was for 2 seasons was to protect baby Yoda, and now that he's did that, the story is about to be about something else? So no real story line has really ever been established for Mandalorian yet. With Bad Batch I feel like we have so much cooking for us to look foward into the show. Hunter vs Crosshair, the Empire still trying to capture Omega for her cloning, Bad Batches future in the war, return of Vader? And all done around the dynamic of a team, which is juat personal preference to me, but I love when star wars establishes a team spirit around the theme similar to rebels, rogue one, and even Han Solo which I enjoyed. Im just confused on the bad reveiws because I don't understand what they did so differently bad . It has everything you love about Star Wars, from action, to adventure, to the suspense, to the score, to the animation, its all done really well. In my opinion ignore the bad reviews.
The Mortal Storm (1940)
A movie that should be shown in history classes
If you love movies about war, this is a must see, I loved how captivating it was in showing the signs of tyranny. Now that I think about it if you like Schindlers List, you'll sure appreciate this one. The message this movie is trying to display really hits home well for me, the director does a good job in showing how Hitler had his impact. I wish I saw this film in grade school because it really puts it in perspective, how influential Hitler really was to his country.
Scarface (1932)
The start of Glorifying Criminals
Love the narrative of this film, wasn't a perfect movie but if you love yourself some, Joker like I do, you'll love this, there's something amazing about how movies are able to make a criminal seem entertaining, Tony's character played by Paul Muni really did an amazing job, he was flawless, and he carries the movie, his character is a blueprint for how to make villain today.
