The Evil Dead (1981)
Pathetic!
Oh dear!
Nobody will like this movie who has any common sense.
Not scary. There are much better movies from this era so there is no excuse for it.
Worst film I have ever seen. The acting and the gore are of poor quality - a homemade movie at best.
This is not for real.
The idea of some of the gory scenes is good if it looked real - the artwork is good for a school project perhaps - good for those who don't know how to make films.
Contracted: Phase II (2015)
Unusual viral/zombie movie
The transformation happens through several stages over a few day so you feel for the slow suffering of the infected person and wonder what's going to happen to them next and if they are going to survive the race against time.
Betterthan most zombie movies for this reason.
You need to write at least 10 lines here so let me see...
The first film was kept the suspense up as you didn't know what was coming.
This film didn't have the same amount of suspense or shock appeal but the unfolding plot and extra gore makes up for it.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013)
Imaginative
This movie had very good sets ideas and characters. Feature packed with many parts to it.
A girl lives a normal life with her artist mother until she goes to a night club and sees a symbol on the sign that nobody else can read. When she enters the club she witnesses a killing. One of the killers looks back at her shocked that she can see him as nobody else can. She starts drawing symbols all over her room. Eventually he meets up with her and tells her she is not a mundane and he was killing a demon that possessed the party goer. Her mother disappears and she finds out from a witch she had a mental block put on her as a child by a warlock. She finds out she is shadowhunter (half angel). She sees another world behind the one we live in. She goes to an academy that holds the secrets of the shadowhunter world. They go to the warlock but her friend gets taken by a pack of vampires. There is a big fight. The story goes on with lots of twists and turns as the mystery unfolds. a cup, a witch, werewolves, father with bad intentions, love interest( better without this), unique powers, good special effects and so forth.
The love theme didn't work and there were a few cheesy comments but overall it was unique.I can see the points that people don't like about it but it only took away a point.
Contracted (2013)
Unusual Zombie film following the transformation of one girl from beginning to end
May contain spoilers:
The slow transformation of a girl into a Zombie.
A lesbian girl arrives at a bar with her girlfriend stays there for a while, leaves with a man and has sex with him in a car. She appears to contract a sexual disease but it turns out she is rotting from the inside out. For those who don't seem to get it she is slowing turning into a zombie. Insects come out of her body on a few occasions and she causes blooming flowers to wilt. It is a spiritual affliction not a virus. In the final act she becomes murderous and eventually depraved.
She calls up the nice guy, puts on make up to cover up her problem and then has sex with him but he finds out what's wrong with her when maggots come out of her vagina. You wonder if he is going to end up like her. She gets in her car and drives off collapses and when she wakes up, gets out of the car and acts depraved in the final stage of the transformation.
I won't give away the ending but it's unexpected.
The Mechanic (2011)
Not sure what this was all about
There appears to be no plot. The mechanic is a killer with no purpose. I fast forwarded it several times as it was so boring except the part where he threatens to grate a girl's arm in a washing dispenser but after you see the blood he shows you her arm is fine and that he put a steak in it. I don't get what this is about. It's kind of East Enders style. A couple of thugs from an English pub with American accents. Realistic filming that you feel like you are on a street in London. I would give this a zero but 1 is the lowest. It just doesn't do it. Not a properly planned movie.
Nothing like transporter at all.
The Devil's Advocate (1997)
Too realistic
Something about this film was too realistic. Al Pachino was sooo bad. Lucifer is so real that it's not acting. it is what it is. It felt like he was sitting on the end of my bed every time he appeared. Most horror films are designed for the viewer to watch from afar. You might feel like you are in the film and get the scares but not that the demons are trying to touch you personally. Lucifer and the demon women are directed towards the audience much of the time. It's like he is trying to show you personally how he wants to take Keanu while he is doing sex with you. I expected a bit more distance. The Godfather was an angel compared to this.
Sammy's Super T-Shirt (1978)
70s kids classic
I loved this film when I was 5 years old. They took the school on a trip to the movies. Very English. I liked the sound effects. I used to dream of having a super T-shirt. I managed to find the full movie on You Tube. Still worth the watch 35 years later.
Sammy's Tiger T-shirt made its way into a factory where a man was carrying out experiments on textiles to make them indestructible. Sammy and his friend sneak into the lab and try to get the shirt back. They accidentally set off the machine. The shirt gets zapped by radiation that gives it superpowers. Sammy and his friend escape but the men from the factory chase after them and try to get the shirt back.
Staying Alive (1983)
Perfect sequel to Saturday Night Fever.
Pleasant surprise. I cannot understand the low rating. A perfect sequel to Saturday Night Fever. 80s style but follows on smoothly from the previous one with similar music. Good story line. Script was spot on. Tony has a life now. He meets a stunning talented female dancer but has an on/off relationship with someone he is comfortable with. He gets a role in a Broadway show and unexpectedly during rehearsals gets the lead role. Fantastic dance sequences and satisfying ending and a cute bit where he struts off the same way he started in Saturday Night Fever.
I thought he only danced disco. I had no idea he could dance this well.
