Spy Kids 3: Game Over (2003)
Well-put-together Film
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over was filled with breathtaking special effects, well-put-together story lines, and excitement. I have not seen the first film, but I have seen the second one. The second one, I thought, was rather stupid, because the gadgets and technology are very unrealistic. This one, however, turned out to be just fine for me, even though they have the same type of gadgets, but this time they are in a video game, which makes the film more believable.
Some of the high-speed special effects appeared more video-gamey than real life, but that was also acceptable because it is a video game. Ideas from Star Wars Episode I Racer video game and Danny Kaye's The Inspector General (1949) made it very amusing, and seeing Elijah Wood for a few hilarious moments was a plus It also showcased the acting talents of Ricardo Montalban, Sylvester Stallone and George Clooney, who are normally known more as action heroes than good actors. Overall, this film was much better than the previous two, and deserves a viewing from any kid or teenager who enjoys action, humor, and good clean fun.
Catch That Kid (2004)
Funny and Exciting, but Negative Moral Themes
This film, at the start, was interesting enough. It's very funny, to say the least - the humor was in the same mold as Home Alone. It was filled with excitement, thrilling chases, and tense moments.
The film's premise about the kids robbing the bank to save Maddy's dad was, to say the least, disappointing. It had it's upsides, but the filmmakers seemed to forget the fact that this movie is all about something illegal and wrong, robbing a bank, and add to that the fact that Maddy lies to her friends to convince them to help her.
Throughout the entire film I was waiting for a redeeming quality; for them to get punished somehow, such as always happened in Shakespeare's plays. In his plays, such as Macbeth, Macbeth kills the king and ends up dying later on as a consequence for murder. There were several times in the film where it made you think they would get caught, but they got away with it and, at the end, just got a slap on the hand. Overall, the film was funny and exciting, but the moral themes just weren't right. It's movies like this that make you appreciate Shakespeare so much more.
Air Force One (1997)
Excellent Film
This film painted an exceptional portrait of the American spirit, pitching Harrison Ford as the president of the United States and Gary Oldman as a Russian terrorist hijacking Air Force One. Harrison Ford played his part excellently and Gary Oldman was a very convincingly evil villain.
The whole premise of refusing to negotiate with terrorists is one that I personally believe fully in, and agree with. The love that President Marshall holds for his family is refreshing, as well as his loyalty and commitment to his country.
This movie is an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. There were several times during the movie that nearly bring you to tears showing the heartlessness and cruelness that the terrorists possess, but during the final half hour of the film, it uplifts the heart of any who watch it with it's picture of the American spirit. Jerry Goldsmith's score helped director Wolfgang Peterson realize that. If you say, as I have heard many say before, that the ending to this movie stinks, I have to question whether or not you really love your country. Personally, I thought the ending was the most uplifting movie ending I have ever seen.
