Surprisingly good movie.
11 October 2016
I was actually very surprised by this movie and how good it was from start to finish. The time flew by and the actors all did a great job. I won't give any spoilers away and don't want to be so vague but it's basically a movie about a group of friends that are on a weekend to try and help their buddy deal with feelings that have been suppressed. There are some very funny moments and the actors do a great job with what they were given to make you feel as though you are there with them. The way they all interact was quite well done and you get a real sense that these people actually care deeply about one another. It's a comedy with a serious topic and they do an excellent job. I highly recommend this indie type movie that deals with sadness with a bit of partying and friends with a good sense of humor.

Simple yet impressive !

I really liked this film. It made me feel good. I loved the beautiful countryside camera shots. Those alone are worthy of National Geographic. The parts between conversations had a calming effect on me along with the soundtrack. I thought Martin Sheen did very well as did the other actors. They all worked so well together and by the end of the movie you could see they spent a lot of time together on the set and honestly got along or so it seemed and thats what made the movie impressive. Wonderful movie to watch with an uplifting vibe and quirky characters with a real bond make this a definite must see. I can actually see myself watching this for a second time and that's rare in films for me. Enjoy !

Simple yet well planned.

There's a scene in this movie that sticks with me still almost 6 months after watching it and it's the obvious one to everyone I'm sure. Great simple idea that I cannot say I've seen ever in a horror movie. Well enough acted. The ending was OK but the beginning and middle are well worth the just OK finish. I'd love to see a sequel with some kind of conclusion to the problem at hand. Like I said the one part that eerily sticks in my mind goes so well with the music they use that I think it should be in the top 100 creepy movie scenes of all time. I really hope they do a sequel and this movie could have more depth to it in the future but I think the way it was written was not boring and to the point and thats really all people need sometimes.

Evil Things

Warning: Spoilers
Not bad. I was genuinely on edge for most of the film. I think the writer had a good idea, albeit taking from other "reality" type horror movies. In my own mind I have a great idea for a part 2 and believe that's the main purpose of this movie was to set up a part 2 but thats my take on it. I notice a lot of these "found tape" movies seem to be leaving the back door open for these purposes. The budget was 20k so they could make quite a lot a money and continue on a good sequel if they have the right idea as I do so hopefully we will see. I wouldn't pay money to see this but I would for a sequel if that makes sense. I noticed how many "reality" movies are being made lately with the "found tape" premise so to keep us intrigued they all need to come up with something original or I could definitely see this coming to an end in the next 2-3 years due to the same old same ole. Horror movies will always be a favorite of mine and others due to liking the feeling of being scared but we do have minds and being too abstract can not only be annoying but can lead to confusion and thats not intellectual it's just annoying so I can understand a lot of peoples negative comments to this and other such movies. Just do a part 2 and do it right you, the writer, have a snowball going here. I sometimes wonder if these independent writers do these low budget films like Blair Witch to make money to afford better effects and such like Blair Witch 2 but really they don't need more money but instead just some well thought out ideas to to letting the viewers imagination roll with the innuendos but make it make sense once again abstract is annoying to the general public. Maybe thats the whole point is that the writer doesn't like "normal".

Methadonia (2005 TV Movie)

xanax not methadone
14 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
This documentary follows some methadone patients around town. The majority are taking xanax along with their methadone which in most clinics will get you kicked off unless you have a prescription for yourself. But these fools make all methadone patients look like a bunch of junkies. I've been on methadone for the last 3.5 years and am almost tapered off completely due to all the stigma, dependency, observed ua's, money and plain hassle it's been. If someone wants to make a negative documentary about methadone than talk to people like me that followed the rules and have an issue not a bunch of whack jobs that are just there to get high.

Made me feel OK
7 March 2006
I really just liked this movie a whole lot. Sure the music wasn't the greatest but I am close to "40" and really can relate to these women. Must be my generation that went through Punk Rock, New Wave and Goth era that really got this movie. It just goes to show you you're never too old to dream and if your my age you're far from a poser instead we old folks deserve our respect for making a scene that people still try to emulate to this day. Have fun watch this movie and just be yourself. Thats what I got from it and I just really dig women with their style and panache. Always will and when you see someone that feels so strongly about their craft it makes it even better. This is far from just some average movie that glorifies the hardcore scene it makes it personal and non glamorous in a realistic way.

Open Water (2003)
5/10
Misleading advertising
27 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I guess I'm just a sucker for the words "based on a true story". I took it literally and for some reason assumed that one of the characters would have survived to tell how the time spent floating around in water after being abandoned went. It's based on a true story but from the moment they enter the water it becomes a fiction based drama. Nothing wrong with that but I don't think that a movie should put in big fat letters on the movie cover "based on a true story" to draw people in. Maybe I'm wrong but it would be like watching Jaws and saying based on a true story really. Sure it was horrible what happened and needed to be told but not at the cost of making money. Should have been a documentary. How dare the director assume how these people died. Why bring horror to their remaining family and make it look like they suffered so immensely when it's all speculation. For all we know they were picked up by a UFO and are leaders of a brave new world. I mean common. Bad movie once I knew they died but good up to a point. Of course all at the expense of a made up story not completely a true story.

Never been stoned than you won't understand
12 June 2005
Well I may have just indicated my past with this summary. Oh well. If you live in the NW of USA than you either know a stoner, are a stoner or are soon to be one. This movie is just as the title Bongwater says for stoners. It has some big name actors and they play the paranoid stoner role very well. This film is not an Oscar winner by any means but instead has a somewhat sad and mellow. It is a movie about lots of people that live in this part of the country. Just people that are lost and have no real future to look forward to. There only real joy is getting stoned or high on LSD in the woods. Not really a comedy more like a statement about a certain lifestyle. Problems abound and psycho women galore. Poor Luke Wilson the head stoner does a great job as your likable, lonely stoner. Jack Black plays a decent waster that would have been at all the Grateful Dead concerts. Brittany Murphy plays a rather horny psycho girl which is probably not far from the truth. Andy Dick and his gay partner have some pretty funny parts to add to the plot. It just is not a very happy movie though. Kinda like a stoners life it's just there and goes on until the cops or fire department shake things up. Crazy women and stoner dudes what a mellow life.

Common People Vote Higher
4 June 2005
I'm not one to usually admit I was teared up during a movie but this movie got me at least three times. That alone should give it a 7 rating but I added one more. I guess I really understood Lucy in the movie since those are the type of women I would date. Once you get to know them all, all 4 that is, you can really understand this complex relationship. I will not go into too many details but this is a must watch movie and not a perfect 10 but pretty darn good. I cannot believe that this has under a 6 rating not true at all. So i have to add a few more lines. OK then vote for this movie with your heart not from a spectacularly sensational Hollywood standpoint.
