SeaQuest DSV: Hide and Seek (1994)
SHATNER!!!
Another great episode of a great and often overlooked series. This episode has everything you could want from a 90s cult tv show. It has sci, adventure, over the top story and oh yeah did I mention? William effing Shatner. Per usual he steals the show and chews the scenery. He raises this episode to the next level, the only negative is this is the only appearance he has on this show. He should have been a recurring character. One small caveat is that it's interesting they chose the Balkins as a war torn area in 2018. Yes, they have had problems since prior to 1914 even, but at the time Slobodan Milosevic was in power (1993). He was committing war crimes in Kosovo including genocide. This storyline is exactly that. Nothing new or interesting. That is the only real negative of this episode. It takes place 25 years later. I would expect a different war. Other than that this is a must watch episode of the series.
For All Mankind: Home Again (2019)
Merit
This is a phenomenal episode, one of the best of the series. If I could give it an 11/10 I would. It is not only a scathing indictment of bureaucracy, but an indictment of management at many companies in general. This episode will resonate with anyone who has been passed over for a less qualified, less experienced person. Watching Margot use the information she has been given to advance in the face of an incompetent bureaucracy is very satisfying.
In addition to the great story telling the acting by Colm Feore and Wren Schmidt is fantastic. Easily their best work of the season.
This episode is easily the best of the first season and maybe the best of the entire series.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Worst movie to win best picture
This is the worst movie I've ever seen to win best picture. I do think it had an interesting premise, but it was maybe the park poorly executed movie I've seen. The movie could not get out of its own way. Every time there was a dramatic or heartfelt scene it was undercut by something ridiculous or just silly such as the hot dog fingers or the bagel. The movie is well over 2 hours long and I was looking at the clock 10 minutes in. In addition to being ridiculous it was just boring at times and the choreography of most of the fight scenes was pedestrian at best.
It's an embarrassment to the academy that this movie was not only nominated, but it won best picture. The dark knight was not even nominated, they should be ashamed.
