The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) (2015)
One scene is worth the price of admission alone!!!
Okay, I thought I'd seen everything -- and I HAVE seen some messed up stuff in real life as well as in the movies. BUT I was not prepared for the bare-handed castration of an inmate by the prison warden. OMG they must have used animal testicles or something. Quite realistic. I sat through all three Centipede movies (thanks, Netflix!). Why, you might ask? For educational purposes, of course. Now I would like to figure out what Eric Roberts is doing in this movie... I guess a paycheck is a paycheck... The actor who plays the warden sounds like he had a stroke right before filming, and the Texas accent of his helper comes and goes and is just plain awful. He was so much better in the second sequence when he said nothing and just let the black and white filming take in his unusual looks.
A Day Late and a Dollar Short (2014)
I liked this movie
This is a good movie; I didn't feel like I wasted two hours of my time like with SO many other movies! Nice to see Whoopi in an understated performance. All the acting was good - but - even in a drama, Tichina Arnold makes me laugh! Too many years of watching "Martin" I guess... The hand-written letters that Whoopi's character left at the end was special...a great idea in this digital age. Okay, in the church scene where she sees her estranged husband and his girlfriend, who noticed Whoopi's homage to Guinan with her hat? Overall, this is a movie that most should enjoy; yes it feels a bit rushed, but if each character was fully developed, the movie would be four hours long.
Sonny Boy (1989)
Strange indeed!
Okay, let's start with David Carradine in drag...he gives a surprisingly touching performance. And any movie with Brad Dourif - well - what can one say? He always brings a certain something to his roles and I'm glad he continues to get work. This is one strange movie, but guess what? - it's better than some mainstream crap I payed money to see! (Blair Witch Project, for example). I caught if on TCM Underground one night (thanks, TCM!) and was instantly intrigued. If you didn't know it was filmed in 1989 you'd swear it was a product of the 1970's; it certainly has that feel to it. If you're a fan of "Spider Baby" and movies like that, you will enjoy (?) this movie!
