Fallout (2024)
One star. Disappointing
A One-Star Review
In the realm of post-apocalyptic fiction, "Fallout" has long held a revered status, capturing the imaginations of gamers worldwide with its rich storytelling, immersive world-building, and morally complex narratives. So, when news broke of a television adaptation, anticipation ran high. However, the resulting series, while bearing the name "Fallout," is a far cry from the beloved franchise it purports to represent.
From the outset, "Fallout" fails to grasp the essence of its source material, opting instead for a shallow imitation that squanders its potential at every turn. The show's premise follows a group of survivors navigating the wasteland of a nuclear apocalypse, reminiscent of the game series' setting. However, any semblance of depth or nuance is swiftly abandoned in favor of uninspired clichés and derivative storytelling.
One of the most glaring shortcomings of "Fallout" is its treatment of characters. Rather than crafting compelling personalities with genuine arcs and motivations, the series relies on tired stereotypes and cardboard cutouts. The protagonist, a rugged survivor with a heart of gold, embodies every tired trope of the genre without adding anything new or interesting. Supporting characters fare no better, serving as little more than plot devices to move the narrative forward without any real depth or development.
Furthermore, "Fallout" squanders its potential for thought-provoking commentary on the human condition in the face of adversity. Instead of exploring complex themes of morality, survival, and the consequences of our actions, the series opts for cheap thrills and superficial conflict. Any attempts at social commentary feel half-hearted at best, overshadowed by the show's relentless focus on spectacle over substance.
Visually, "Fallout" is a mixed bag, with inconsistent production values and lackluster special effects. While some scenes manage to evoke the desolate beauty of a world ravaged by nuclear war, others feel cheap and poorly executed, betraying the show's limited budget and lack of creative vision. Moreover, the decision to rely heavily on CGI for its more ambitious sequences only serves to highlight the series' technical shortcomings, resulting in jarring moments of disconnect for the audience.
Narratively, "Fallout" suffers from pacing issues and a lack of direction, meandering aimlessly from one plot point to the next without ever building meaningful tension or momentum. Subplots are introduced and promptly abandoned, characters disappear without explanation, and the overall story arc feels disjointed and unsatisfying. By the time the season finale rolls around, it's hard to shake the feeling that "Fallout" has squandered its potential for a truly engaging narrative in favor of shallow spectacle and empty action.
Ultimately, "Fallout" is a disappointment on every level, failing to capture the essence of the beloved video game franchise it seeks to emulate. From its one-dimensional characters to its lackluster storytelling and subpar production values, the series falls short of even the most modest expectations. Fans of the games will find little to love here, while newcomers will likely be left scratching their heads at the hype surrounding this lackluster adaptation.
In conclusion, "Fallout" is a prime example of how not to adapt a beloved property for the small screen. Lacking in creativity, depth, and originality, the series is a disservice to fans of the franchise and a missed opportunity for meaningful storytelling. With its derivative plot, cardboard characters, and lackluster production values, "Fallout" is best avoided by all but the most die-hard enthusiasts of post-apocalyptic fiction. In a crowded landscape of television offerings, this one-star disappointment is best left to fade into obscurity.
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
Overated
Outstanding actors, pure class, however the film is overly long and surprisingly dull, seams to drag on and on and sap the life out of you, really can't understand the high ratings of this film. In comparison Oppenheimer is equally long but a superb fine that grips you throughout and unlike this it makes you not want to pause and get a snack.
This film is quite frankly one to miss, it is boring , maybe someone else likes a silly slow slow pace but nothing much happens and other than the lead actors it will have you looking at your phone throughout because is is so so very dull, this is one I wish I missed. It's is soo so so very boring.

Star Trek: Discovery: Kobayashi Maru (2021)
What the hell
Who is writing this nonsense? Season 1 and 2 were good, season 3 was everyone crying in every episode, and now they are all smiling? Was it written by teanagers? Really disappointing to another probably rubbish series... please stop try to destroy the starters franchise.
Foundation (2021)
Lame writers
How lame are the writers to make the most famous sci-fi series of all time, so bad, really disappointing, an insult to Asimov and anyone that appreciates good sci-fi.
For All Mankind (2019)
So dull
Saw the good reviews and thought it would be good, how wrong was I, so dull, all talk and nothing interesting. One to miss.
Wrath of Man (2021)

Star Trek: Discovery: Terra Firma, Part 2 (2020)
What's going on
Seriously this is bad, the first 2 seasons were outstanding, but this is just awful,
It's like being at a wake, there's crying, and terribly bad acting and bad story, crap Like this will end Star Trek
Songbird (2020)
Poor
There's a reason this has a dreadful score on IMDb, it's a risk Rubbish film, this is one of those films or the trailer is quite good but the film is absolutely appalling recommend this is avoided it's got absolutely nothing to do with Covid and it's just a really bad cell nothing exciting happens

Omg it's terrible
Don't wast your time, this is really really really really bad, I kept expecting a interesting intelligent ending and it never arrived, it's time you will never get back
Bloodshot (2020)
Good
Enjoyable and worth a watch. However I must say there is a huge scene in London and it loses credibility because all the licence plates are not English. It's ridiculous there must be 30 cars in the scene and not one of them has a English license plate... have they no attention to detail? It's shockingly bad
Motherless Brooklyn (2019)
Hmmm bit overrated
Edward Norton was good but the film didn't capture me, I turned it off after 30 mins, this is the second film in my entire life that I didn't finish , it was clear from the start that it would be a overly long dragged out tedious story
Knives Out (2019)

Boring boring boring why did this get high reviews???
Color Out of Space (2019)
Pretty bad
Good acting by Nicolas cadge but the film
Was Overrated and not enjoyable
Avenue 5 (2020)
Not bad at all
Lot of criticisms here but it's not bad at all, I quite enjoyed it and I will watch more. Hugh is good, it's quite funny and it is significantly better than recent nonsense like Orville and lost in space. Light hearted fun, and I look forward to the next episode
Finding Steve McQueen (2019)
Vastly overrated
How on earth did this get good reviews?? It's slow dull and boring. Nothing to see here, move along. The only good thing about the film is it's quite short, so it's over sooner. Done bother is my advice
