Evil Dead II (1987)
Best horror movie ever
if there was one movie that makes me wish I could go back to being 11 years old and watch again for the 1st time it's this one. Starting out as a terrifying demonic scare fest then with ash through his ordeals becoming a badass. I remember being one of the 1st kids to see this one right before going to summer camp and of course had all the other kids in my cabin convinced it was a true story and that happenened in these cabins. That the demons and necronomicon were real and still here. Convincing them that the counselor's all knew about the evil but were too afraid to mention it and that's why they slept in the locked main building and left us kids alone outside all night. Of course that came back to bite me when it was time to go to bed and my imagination would catch up to me and I would start to think what if I'm right and it's really out there😨? I guess compared to today's standards of human centipedes and hostel todays youth would probably find it bland but this one will always hold a special place in my heart.... The year I went to camp with the evil dead and survived =O. I have to wonder if I traumatized any of my fellow campers who hadn't seen this movie with my tales of terror about this movie lol. Eventually some of the kids were so scared they were moved to the locked main building and the counselor's weren't happy with me.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
Ruined spiderman
I went to see this in the theater and I can't remember feeling more disappointed or ripped off. They took spiderman from a likable hero and made him a selfish emo stalker who looked more like they type that would bring a gun to school and start shooting. Not one likable character to root for. The music sucked compared to Danny elfmans original score. garfield as spiderman is like putting a silk hat on a pig, I found myself rooting for lizard. The writers and directors must have come out of the ghetto? I will say this at least I didn't waste the money on seeing #2. I just hope these losers won't bring venom into part 3 and ruin him too. I have a bad feeling they will though. I'm not sure why these idiots wanted to remake it in the 1st place. Stay away until it's on the $5 bin at Walmart.
Hercules (2014)
Why change or make up anything
The story was already there. Hera makes herc go nuts and he kills his family THEN has to do his labors to make amends, 10 of them. He gets disqualified for 2 because one they said the river did all the work and the other he had help killing the hydra so it didn't count so he had 2 more added on. The story of just his labors would have made an awesome movie by itself. Hercules didn't have nightmares about Cerberus he captured Cerberus by hand and drug it back to the king because hades said he could borrow Cerberus but could not harm him. Idk why Hollywood insists on always ruining a good thing. Im Waiting for another Christian mythology movie where they make up a bunch of stuff? Maybe have Jesus nail himself to the cross or have his imposter step in to take his place. Anyway don't waste your money on this one til it hits the dollar theatre.
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
The king of sword movies
This movie is the best. I feel so sad these new sword and sorcery shows like game of thrones are more like soap operas with no monster barbarians like Arnie. I especially like how Conan and his woman were supposedly so in love but he only says maybe 5 words to her the entire movie. He spends the rest of the movie chopping people to bits, no drama, back stabbing or politics. When he burns his girlfriends body he doesn't even cry so his Asian sidekick has to cry for him. This is what a sword movie should be. It was especially a nice touch at the end when thulsa doom gives his last speech to Arnie and Arnie just has that look on his face for a second like his brain was hurting ... Until it hit him he doesn't think he just chops and that's how it ended with a "thwack". They don't make them like they used to =*(
Ichimei (2011)
Great movie
I thought they did a wonderful job with this movie. They didn't sell out by making it all in English with American actors. They didn't go crazy making it a bloodbath just to get the younger viewers. The movie really gives you an insight into Japan's history and what life was like for these people. The atmosphere and story telling really draws you in. The acting is great especially one scene that had me cringing. There were a lot of parts where I was like whoa I didn't see that coming. I can understand those out there loyal to the original but you at least have to give the film makers of this remake credit. They stayed true to Japanese culture, they didn't get tom cruise or Keanu reeves to star in it. They didn't write it for the newer younger audience and make all the characters smart mouth kids. Unfortunately I haven't seen the original yet and I understand how those people might not like this one. I don't know how I would feel about a seven samurai remake? I think this movie was well done. It succeeded in telling a truly gripping story without going all modern on it and ruining it. I enjoyed it.
