Hollywood Treasure (2010)
Love the show and cast.
The series is a lot of fun and interesting too.
I watched the premier episodes and they were exciting, faced paced, and interesting. Seeing cool iconic props from some of my favorite films was fun.
Looks like they found a Gremlin puppet and other sci fi/horror stuff in the clips of future episodes.
What was in the briefcase?
Everyone in the show really seemed to love what they were doing which makes it more fun.
Having the cast visit collectors is nice too.
Can't wait to see more.
Bridge to Terabithia (2007)
Predictable, depressing, and cliché.
While the acting in this was superb, the story and ending were Predictable, depressing, and cliché.
The advertising for this film was very, very misleading, and if I knew it was about a child experiencing death at a young age, I would have skipped it.
About 25 min after being introduced to "Leslie", I thought hmmmm, I bet after she teaches her friend "Jess", how to enjoy life, etc, she dies.
Whadya know, unfortunately, I was right.
This film reminded me of "My Girl" with a bit of "Narnia" thrown in.
People pass away, including kids, but I don't wan't to go to a fantasy movie to see death.
There is more than enough of that in real life.
For many, movies sometimes are a way to escape the rough parts of life. Sad movies can and do, have a place in cinema. While this film had some very nice moments and great acting, the story used the same "formula" as many other films do.
Happy, happy, characters become close, one of them dies, the one who doesn't learns a lesson and moves on.
No thanks...
House of 9 (2005)
Painful to watch.
How this ever got funding to be filmed is a mystery to me.
One of the most painful things on celluloid I have ever watched. I was praying it would end and end soon, but unfortunately, it did not.
Poor Dennis Hopper was either shown a different script, or he was doing nothing for a weekend and decided to be part of this film.
The only actor who was semi decent was Raffaello Degruttola. His talents were wasted in a script so bad one wonders if monkeys wrote it.
I am curious why anyone in their right mind would agree to be part of this project. Were they high? Abducted by aliens and forced to be in this crap?
Maybe the actors were saving for a new car and needed the funds.
If you are ever offered to see this, pass. It will save you from losing your sight and mind.
The Green Mile (1999)
Michael Clarke Duncan deserved the Best Actor Oscar for his role
I wish I had seen this in the movies when it first came out. This has to be one of my favorite movies. I only recently discovered it on HBO. All of the acting performances are top notch. Everyone involved with this film should be proud.
I am totally shocked Michael Clarke Duncan did not receive a best actor Oscar for his performance. His acting was so natural and emotional.
Michael, if you read these comments, please know you are truly gifted as an actor and to me, you won the Oscar for best actor every time I see you in this film. The Academy must have been on vacation when they decided who would receive the Oscar, because you my friend, deserve it.
Tales from the Crypt (1972)
Just got the Dual Midnite Madness September 2007 DVD set. "Tales" looks great!
Finally. A clear, clean print of "Tales From The Crypt"!
Fox did a nice job with "Tales". The movie looks very clean and clear on my 62" Toshiba HD television.
"Vault Of Horror" on the other hand is a bit of a mess. Very orange looking and a bit noisy. It is decent, but why didn't Fox do a good job cleaning "Vault" like they did, "Tales" which is an OLDER film by only a year?
"Vault Of Horror", also is CENSORED. TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE on Fox's part. They put a big black cartoon over the shoulder of a vampire near Rogers (Daniel Massey's) head. It looks idiotic. What makes no sense is later on in another story, they show a man's pickled parts in jars (they also do a weird freeze frame of a hammer to his head, which looks like censorship again), and later they show hands being chopped off. So why the other random censorship?
Shame on Fox for that. The print of "Vault" is also kind of noisy and orange.
Still, this set is worth buying for the great, clean print of "Tales".
Fright Night (1985)
Great Movie and I have one VERY IMPORTANT GOOF that NOBODY else has ever noticed!
Here is one VERY MAJOR GOOF/FLUB in the movie that NOBODY has EVER Noticed,so I get credit for posting it!(LOL).After Evil Ed turns into a Vampire and goes to Peter Vincents Apartment,he and Vincent pass by the mirror in the room and if you freeze frame or slow mo the shot you see a stage hand in the mirror with white hair and a red thermal shirt sitting across the room.MAJOR GOOF! :) I LOVE this movie and for all of the smaller goofs listed, which is normal for most movies)this seemed to be the only real big one.The acting is superb, and so are the SFX. Roddy MCDowall is great.I wish he was still around, but we have his great movies to remember him by :) The rest of the cast is great as well. Thanks to everyone involved with the making of this excellent scary, old fashioned, fun horror movie then and now.
Trilogy of Terror II (1996)
Not bad. TheZuni part is best
The Zuni from this was created from the original Zuni from the first Trilogy (which was in Dan Curtis's office), so it is pretty cool. I rate this film high due to the Zuni.
I wish they used the same voice actor, Walker Edmiston, who did the Zuni screams for the original Trilogy Of Terror. Nothing can compare to his Zuni screams. Of course Trilogy Of Terror is a 10, but for a sequel, this does the job.
It was a blast to see the Zuni again. I do wish they were a bit more accurate in the opening scenes for the Zuni segment. I don't remember Amelia living in a duplex painted totally white or her robe being blue.
But it was fun.
Coming soon, a cool looking site

Update:
The site is now up. It looks great and will have pictures of the original "Hero" or main cable controlled Zuni puppet used in the film.
For some reason IMDb is NOT doing their job and is not posting trivia from people who actually WORKED on the film. What is up with that?
Go to the website for the real deal.
UFO's Are Real (1979)
Great Video with PROOF of UFO's
Everything in this documentary is GREAT with PROOF of UFO existence.Everything except the Billy Maier baloney that is.I wish that mess was not in this documentary, but 9 out of 10 is not bad.Plenty of hard evidence here.President Jimmy Carter,J.Edgar Hoover,Military Officials, and many other CREDIBLE witnesses are featured in this show.I mean Betty Hill describing Amniocentesis BEFORE it was INVENTED says VOLUMES.As does a handwritten memo from J.Edgar Hoover, attesting to the existence of UFO's.There are soil tests that are DEMONSTRATED,and also many, many legit photo's of UFO's(don't count the Billy Maier crap near the end of the movie, lol).Everything in this is intelligently written and presented.99% of the evidence presented here stands up today still(Again the Maier stuff is a joke, but not the main item here, thank God). This and a few of the recent UFO's documentaries with Bryant Gumble is very well done also.I want to get those as Gumble shows the military's outright LIES explaining people seeing BODIES after the Roswell crash. The Military explains them as "Crash Test Dummies".Then Gumble points out the dummies were NOT used until 7 YEARS AFTER ROSWELL.Get your cover ups STRAIGHT Military!
Daughter of the Mind (1969)
Very Creepy Sad Movie but Hopefull ending
I remember this movie as a young child.Pamela Ferdin and Ray Miland were great in it.It was actually kind of creepy and depressing about a young girl who had died.It actually upset me as a little kid that the characters daughter died so young.I never knew kids could die and this freaked me out as a kid.In some ways I guess it made me realize that anyone can die young and old,but the ending was hopeful and made me feel a bit less freaked out.The musical score was very well done and the acting was good also.TV movies in the late 60's and 70's,80's were SO much better than they are today. They actually had a STORY and Characters that were more realistic and original.Today, writers have no talent as they need to RE DO like every movie in a remake.Sad.I like the Originals.Wow,now that I think about it,I must have seen this in the 70's as I am still in my late 30's and this was made in 1969,the year I was born.I probably saw it at age 11 or 12 sometime in the mid to late 70's on a rerun. It really scared me.
Trilogy of Terror (1975)
Great Movie with a Great Actress, Karen Black
I remember seeing this as a kid ( I was VERY young) and sneaked watching it because my parents thought I was too young, and boy were they right! LOL.
The next day after the movie was shown on ABC, EVERYONE was talking about it at my brothers and sisters schools, and in my class. MANY of us watched without our parents seeing us hiding at the foot of the stairs! All 3 stories were great and Karen Black shows her excellent range as an actress. When she was on the phone with her mom in "Amelia", she really shows her characters relationship with her mom, and how it affects her in a 4 minute scene. Not many actresses can do that.
Of course the Zuni Fetish Doll was done VERY well considering there was no CGI at the time and it was what I would call a "REAL" special effect. Karen reacts to it with true fear and her fear made me scared of the Zuni doll.
I always remembered "that" film and it was and still is, one of my favorite thriller/horror movies. I like it so much that I own a few original Zuni special effects puppets that were used in the sequel, "Trilogy Of Terror 2".
The Dolls for that movie were actually made from the one surviving doll from the original Trilogy owned by Dan Curtis.
I am proud to own a part of the films history.
Karen Black does a great job, just like she has in her other movies. "Five Easy Pieces"(Won a Golden Globe), "EasyRider", "The Great Gatsby" (another Golden Globe), "Nashville", "The Playroom" which won her a New York Critic's Circle award, and many other great films.
Most of her work has been non horror inspired subjects. She has only done about 16 "horror movies" out of a career of OVER 100 movies.
She is SO TALENTED.
She is so good at what she does, that many people remember her in Trilogy and therefore think she is a "horror movie" actress, when actually she has done mostly diverse interesting non horror characters.
She is one of my favorite actresses and this little gem of a horror movie is one of her best performances in ANY genre.
