The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)
Not too bad
I was reading over the other comments and I couldn't believe my eyes!! i know I wasn't really around when the original show was on the air and I haven't seen every single episode but I didn't see this movie as anything more than a modern-day remake (which seems to be a reoccurring theme in Hollywood lately). I mean sure they made Daisy look like a ditz and Bo and Luke weren't exactly the wholesome heroes anymore, but over-all I thought it was pretty funny. Whenever a movie version is made of a TV show everyone freaks out about it being a disgrace to the original. Well what if it wasn't the writer's and director's intent to make it just like the original series?? I know if I was making the movie version of the Dukes of Hazzard I wouldn't want it to be just like the original. That would be totally boring seeing as how the series was on the air like 25 years ago. People take movies too serious nowadays. They were invented for entertainment. Why does everyone have to be so serious all the time. It made me laugh and I think that was the whole point. So over-all, even though it wasn't that much like the original, I thought it was a good movie to go see if you just wanted some good, old-fashioned, laugh-it-up fun. I think you should give it a chance.
Fat Albert (2004)
Not as good as the show
Even though this movie was cute and would be somewhat entertaining to someone who used to watch the show as a child, altogether, I think it is a disgrace to the show and to Bill Cosby. It was too silly and the dialog included some unnecessary lines that would have made the overall movie better had they been cut. I guess I can't be too judgmental seeing as how I wasn't alive when the actual show was on TV, but I have watched it and this is my opinion. But, if you like silly movies and are wanting a good laugh, give it a try because I have to say it has it's moments. On the other hand, if this show was your favorite as a child, you may not want to go see it because it might make you mad.
Smallville (2001)
This show is a hit
I love this show. It's really interesting to see how Clark Kent actually became the Superman we all know and love. I read in one of the other comments that Tom Welling signed on to play Clark Kent but not Superman but I find it hard to believe that after four years of the show being such a hit that that contract wouldn't have been re-evaluated. It just wouldn't be fair to the viewers if they never showed that defining moment of Clark Kent flying through the air in that somewhat comical but still intriguing spandex suit. It would be hard to complete the series without showing that. I didn't get into the show until late last year but I found it addicting. It's my favorite show now and I already own two of the seasons on DVD. I'm really glad that someone decided to pull a George Lucas/Star Wars saga interpretation on this heroic and All-American tale. Hopefully this won't turn into one of those hardly remembered wanna-be shows like so many others have. I hope to see this show on the WB for a very long time.
