American Hero (2015)
complete waste of a potentially good idea
When I saw the title and a short description I hoped someone took the movie Will Smith tried to act in (and failed miserably) and fixed it to make a much better movie.
Loving Dorff as an actor I sat down with high expectations. And saw them CRUSHED. This movie is so boring, the interactions so nonsensical and this all leading up to a short scene in which this "superhero" actually does anything worthwhile ... it seems like no one involved was interested in making a good movie. Very, very disappointing result, I would stay far away from this yawn. Unless you are suffering from severe insomnia. In that case this movie will solve all your troubles.
Earthtastrophe (2016)
This could have been awesome
First off, I started watching the movie because of the one good review here on IMDb (of the two reviews so far). I wonder how the movie would have turned out if the producer would have be able to contract the actual Tom Cruise instead of a wooden-faced look alike. And of couse when the "special effects" in the movie would not have been done by a talentless 8-year old. Seriously, it's like in some scenes there is someone using paint to draw lines supposingly lightning, in real time. And some formless blobs for clouds. Which indoors seem to actively hunt people, very weird.
To be honest, the premise of the movie could have been worked out so that this movie would have been a blockbuster. But probably a non existent budget had to lead to a very very mediocre post apocalypic sci fi in which you see the complete plot coming from a mile away. The end result is something like a few students in a film academy could have made (and gotten a D for their trouble). I would pay good money to have the Coen brothers, James Cameron or Ridley Scott do a remake of this.
As it is, go sit down without expectations, if you really love sci fi it is not a complete waste of time. I cannot give it more credit than that.
Orphan Black (2013)
Exceptionally good !!!
I waited a time to watch this show, having multiple other series at my disposal and the general description of the series here on IMDb did not spark a real interest at first. Having hit the waiting list on my other series I decided to give it a shot and saw the first episode. I was immediately immersed in the concept an now, having watched the first two seasons I can tell you the show blows my mind !
Not only is staging multiple versions of one person on screen done seamlessly, the acting is superb and the storyline is of a standard I have not seen in a long, long time.
I never gave a 10 to a series, as I always think there is room for improvement. This however is a show I HAD to give a 10. If you haven't seen it yet, get hustling baby cause it is AMAZING !!!!!
Grey's Anatomy (2005)
Ellen Pompeo ... why ?
I now watched 4 complete seasons of Grey's anatomy. And don't get me wrong, I like most of it. I liked SCRUBS better, I liked HOUSE better, but this series is, regarding content and character development, definitely the other one in my top 3 of medical TV series, and overall still in the top 10 even if it is place 9 or 10. But during season 4 I began to feel uncomfortable with the character of Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo. Well, played .... in literally every scene be it funny, sad, reflective, miss Pompeo fails to bring any emotional content to the screen. Her face is that of a jaded stuck up arrogant b**** if it is not expressionless at all. No matter what facial expression you might expect from an actor in any given circumstance and no matter how hard her colleagues try to save a scene: with her in it staring at them like they are not there, Ellen Pompeo is ruining this series. If you tell me that she had some facial operation that went terribly wrong I would believe it. It becomes harder and harder to watch and is putting me off the series. I guess the producers had no choice to keep her on as lead "actress" since the series is a hit, but in my opinion that is in no way tied to the non-existing efforts of Ellen Pompeo.
Hansel & Gretel (2013)
Glad my mother didn't tell me THIS story before bedtime
The director must have broken his head about how to make a 90 minute movie of a story that literally takes 5 minutes to tell in the original version. You know, he must have thought in the end, we fill up a few superfluous gruesome moments with long uninteresting scenes. In my opinion the director and complete casting and supporting crew should have been put into the freaking oven. This is the first movie I ever gave a vote of 1. Congratulations. Very ... very ... BAD. What else is bad is that I have to type 10 freaking lines to get in a review that could easily have been just the line 'very very bad'. But hey Ill keep typing if you guys keep reading. Ah, I'm done.
The Legend of Hercules (2014)
The screenwriter should have died in childbirth
Seriously, telling a story about Hercules and leaving out that he killed snakes in his crib as an infant ... and it went all downhill from there.
Some random 'adventures' , no 12 works or anything else that ties the character in this movie even remotely to the mythical Greek hero.
Insert "some unknown dude" in the title instead of Hercules, then at least you can watch this movie without expecting anything. Which, by the way,is exactly what you are going to get.
Brrrr .... imagine being the man that signed off on making this horrible excuse for a movie. He must be unemployed by now.
