Steven Kan's Sharks of the Corn (2021)
Better than The Eternals.
Special effects are bad but they clearly didn't have the budget. Forgivable. Honestly a few scenes weren't that bad. An explosion scene that happened was pretty decent. And the poster looks really cool.
The acting was okay. A few people were mediocre but overall they did fine for what they given.
The story are weird. I think if the budget was higher the special effects would have enhanced the story better. Graphics do matter surprisingly. Alot of story and plot points were confusing because all the sets were places out in the woods. There seemed to be maybe too many characters. Too many things the writer wanting to happen. I feel if the writer redrafted the script, the story would make up for the low budget.
All and all. Give this script to Disney with a super budget, and it may have been okay to maybe decent.
This is clearly a first film or someone starting their career as a filmmaker. And they did it. They made a film.
Merry Kiss Cam (2022)
Duluthsional
As a Hallmark romcom. It's exactly like what you're looking for.
As representing Duluth, no. This is what Duluth wants you to think it is. It definitely wasn't filmed in winter. And didn't show the natural beauty of Duluth. Just the old buildings. And good ol' Duluth fashion, made sure to keep Superior Wisconsin out of the picture.
There is a drinking game in here which is good. Everytime they show the Carmody sign, take a shot. Makes the movie much better.
Cinematography was fine. Acting was okay. Story was a Hallmark Christmas story. As cut and paste as they all come. Nothing special.....
