Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

Pretty average, really.

I think they tried a little too hard to find something to make a second movie about. The story isn't great, and there's a lot of weird leaps that just don't make much sense.

Maybe if you're a comic fan they make sense to you, I don't know.

I was looking for a fun action flick, and that's what I got. Just don't try to make sense of the story.

The Green Knight (2021)

Ok... what just happened?

At first I was enjoying the movie. I thought I more or less knew what was going on, and I liked the characters. Although halfway through, I found myself trying to explain the plot to a friend, and I realised I didn't actually know what the plot was.

Unfortunately that only got worse with time. There are so many weird, disjointed things going on in this movie, half the time you're lost, thinking "huh??". That's pretty much how things continue until you get to the last scene.

In the end, I felt let down. No real closure, still no real idea what the actual point was. No idea what happened to a lot of the characters, nothing is explained. It's just... the end.

I wouldn't recommend watching this unless you're into weird, alternative movies where the writers appear to be too stoned to create a coherent plot.

L.O.R.D: Legend of Ravaging Dynasties (2016)

What a waste of 2 hours

The storyline is crazy, it barely makes any sense, and having to watch it with subtitles makes it even worse.

This guy is magic, that guy is magic, this guy is dead, oh wait, he's alive again. He's a traitor, not he's not, that guy is, and so is she. No she isn't she's trying to save the world. Everyone fights each other. Then they help each other, wait, no they don't, it's a trick.

Lots of random magic action, people fighting for apparently no reason, killing a ton of animals for apparently no reason, etc, etc.

Some city gets attacked, then saved. Why? Who knows.

Who is on whose side? Nobody knows.

Then suddenly it ends. Huh?

Don't waste your time.

The Protector (2018–2020)

It was good for a while, but...

I liked season 1, it was original and different. I liked the characters, and the story. I enjoyed watching it and was usually staying up later than I should binge watching this show.

Then there was the end of season 1, where the bad decisions started being made. Let's let the bad guy live, let's make deals, blah, blah, blah. Ok, so they wanted to set up something for season 2. Fair enough, but they should have just let the show end after season 1. Kill the bad guy, end the show. Good stuff.

But no.... Then there was season 2. Bad decision after bad decision, bad plot twists and bad story in general. Don't drink and write. Ok?

Season 3 didn't get much better. I spent most of my time questioning why I was still watching this show. I zoned out somewhere in the last episode several times and ended up watching it over 3 days. Oh he screwed everything up and lost? What a shock.

So now there's season 4. I guess there had to be one, since Hakan is such a moron that he just couldn't keep his ego in check, and make some smart decisions. He lost in the present, now he's going to fight in the past. Good luck buddy. Not sure I can bring myself to watch another season.

John Kincaid Unleashed (2017)

How did this get rated at 7.9???

This movie feels like it was made in 1970, with a low budget, actors taken off the street with no acting experience, and a script written by a drunk, wanna-be martial artist.

I started fast forwarding after the first 20 minutes, I just couldn't take the boring dialogue, the stiff acting, and the lame plot. After finding a few more fights scenes, all badly choreographed, with shaky cameras to hide the fact that the fighters were pulling punches, I just gave up.

Not sure why I even rated this 3 stars. I should probably have just given it 1 star. Actually, I will. Make that 1 star. Don't waste your time.

Headshot (II) (2016)

Stupid.

Abdi/Ishmael is basically a moron with amnesia. A wanna-be John Wick that makes dumb decision after dumb decision, which almost always leads to him getting stabbed, burned, slashed, shot, punched, kicked, or hurt in some other way. He's got the street smarts of a potato.

But apparently he was some sort of hardcore gangster. Not sure how he lived long enough to get to the age he is. Or tie his own shoes for that matter.

But if you're into senseless gore, blood and guts, a ton of over the top violence and unrealistic injuries that you can apparently walk away from, and everyone spitting up blood before they die, no matter what injury they are dying from, I guess you might like this movie.

I didn't. 4/10.

Dynasty Warriors (2021)

It's a bit dumb...

It's sort of a Chinese Kung Fu version of Avengers, but it's just not up to par.

The special effects are way overboard, and the storyline is a bit silly.

I'm not sure why I watched it to the end. I guess I'd already invested over an hour by the time I realised it was not going to get any better.

Don't bother.

Kung Fu (2021–2023)

Meh....

When you first watch it, you think "Oh, Ok, this is is an interesting take on Kung Fu", but the more you watch the more you start to question why you're still watching.

Some episodes have lots of teenage angst drama, and almost no fighting at all. It's just lame.

It feels like it was written and directed by a teenage girl.

Chick Fight (2020)

Pretty fun movie

I have no idea why some people rated this movie a 1 star. It was an easy going, fun movie.

If you like shows like Hercules, or Xena Warrior princess, you'll enjoy this movie.

It's not Fight Club, and it was never meant to be. It's just a fun movie, with decent action, predictable outcomes and silly humor. It's fun to watch and I had a few good laughs along the way.

Upgrade (2018)

Unexpectedly awesome

Apart from a couple of weird moments, this movie was just great.

So much unexpected goodness.

If you're into sci-fi type action movies, put this on your must-see list.

I won't spoil it for you by saying anything more.

This is an absolute yawnfest. You don't get attached to the characters, the story is boring and the whole thing just feels like a high school production. Actually I take that back, those might be better. I stopped it 15 minutes from the end because I just didn't care, and I felt like I was wasting my time.

The Man with the Iron Fists 2 (2015 Video)

It's B grade.

If you're OK with watching B-grade type movies with weird plot holes and fight scenes where you can often spot a completely missed hit, then this movie is OK.

But if you're expecting a great Kung-Fu thriller, this isn't it.

There are a lot of roll-your-eyes moments, where you could see it coming a mile away and the cheese factor is high. The script seems to have been written by the black dude starring in it, at least it feels that way.

It's about as good/bad as the first movie.

Then there's the cheesy soundtrack. It's crap. It reminds me of Kanye's stuff. It's crap too. (I just looked up the sound track and he is actually on it, so now it makes sense).

I did have fun watching it though, it's not awful if you can get past the obvious stuff and I think overall it deserves the rating it has right now.
