A Fresh Take
22 November 2022
Wow! This totally surprised me as I was expecting your typical mobster story. Yes, your usual fish out of the water part of the story isn't totally original. Yet, somehow Sylvester Stallone somehow manages to make it so. Love the humor infused throughout and the way the western scenes are interspersed here and there. The show is like a western-mob series - totally unique. And Stallone fits his role perfectly. Like he was made for this role.

I really loved the first episode (so much so I watched it twice). It started setting up the cast of characters quite nicely. The second episode continued the setup of further cast. I do like the actors they have selected as they seem to mesh well with Stallone himself.

Excited to see where this all leads.

good show

I felt this show was hurt by it's slow start and some miscasting of characters. As the show went on, I thought it got much better & was glad I stuck it out. I do think some actors weren't right for this series, such as Carl Weathers. Unfortunately the two issues I mentioned hurt it ratings wise, which I'm sure lead to its cancellation after one season. Such a shame as it had potential. I feel viewers should have kept watching so as to give it a chance of making it for many more years. I do feel strongly that P. Winchester was right for his role. I enjoyed watching him in court and thought he had the looks and mannerisms of a real lawyer. Sad there are no more seasons. Will miss.

great despite itself

Warning: Spoilers
I watched this with nervous anticipation, hearing that actor Tom Hanks was narrating the film which is not my favorite form of movie styles. But thanks mainly to Austin Butler, it was well-done. Though it still had a few flaws, I felt the film mainly did its job, esp. Concerning Col. Parker as I didn't know much about him as I'm sure many others didn't either. And the story was about his relationship with Elvis. The main flaw, to me, was the lack of showing his well-known gift-giving. That should have been addressed as it was a big part of him - the compassion to help others. What a shame. Maybe down the road, there should be another film based on him & the main women in his life, which also was left out with the exception of Priscilla, of course. So overall, I would still consider it a great film. And hopefully Austin Butler wins an Oscar for his role as Elvis. But then knowing Hollywood, I wouldn't count on it.

Love this

I thought the movie was very good. It followed the book faithfully. Tom Hanks did a very good job of acting. I do think the book should be read first to better understand & appreciate the film - the novel is very good. Definitely recommend.

GREAT SHOW & HOST
26 August 2019
First of all, I have to address all the many, unfair bad reviews. Especially, I have noticed when someone does give a good review, it is deliberately given a no just because they don't agree with that point of view. Everyone is entitled to their point of view too. It's fine to disagree but do so respectfully. Some comments aren't so nice. I think Ashleigh Banfield is a well-spoken, compassionate & informative host who I hope continues. She is a good friend of Dan Abrams, so we'll see. The live action scenes are pretty good and I like the interactions between everyone involved. A good variety of segments shown - especially love the animal rescues. In closing, wish the best to the host and the show - I will keep watching!

good film overall
9 August 2019
This is a wonderful film despite the dog's voice - couldn't they find someone other than Kevin Costner to do the voice? The pick of Milo Ventimiglia to play Denny Swift was a good choice. The book was great - the movie very good. I do recommend everyone see this film - it's funny and heart-rending.

must-watch documentary
22 September 2018
This is a wonderful, not too long, documentary about military dogs & their handlers. Very informative & heart-warming. Mike Dowling was the first dog handler for military dog "Rex" who was in the movie "Megan Leavey". Mike wanted to adopt Rex when his service was over but other circumstances intervened. You get to feel the bond between the soldier and the dog. There is a real sense of teamwork which is necessary to make their missions work. The danger is always there in the background as well as upfront. Well-done & highly recommended!

Better than you think
21 August 2018
Despite a low budget, this is still a good movie. Just because a film doesn't have the big money, does not mean it is a poor film. These actors did a pretty good job with what they had. The special effects were actually really good - comparably just as well done as bigger budget films. Though the film might not have brought anything new to an audience, it still got you involved with the story, if you stuck with it. I really enjoyed this movie for what it did offer. I believe the viewer needs to give this film a chance, enjoy it for what it is & don't compare it to others which does it an injustice.

One of best jury films
26 March 2017
This is one of the best legal drama films I have ever seen. The suspense is palpable & keeps you wondering where this story is taking you. Excellent acting by almost everyone. Though not a fan of Yancy Butler, despite her problems she managed to pull her role through. I really highly recommend this film. But you need to concentrate entirely on the story to get it. Loved it enough to own it on DVD to watch again. Please give this a try - you will be rewarded for your patience.

an under-rated film gem
13 January 2016
Feel like this is an under-rated classic with a film noir touch. Had an odd way of drawing you in until you were completely seduced. Just something about it made me love it more each time I viewed it. The acting was wonderful and well-done. Always nice to see Bruno Kirby though a different role for him. Same for Matt Dillon - totally unexpected but nice the same. Liked the atmosphere & setting which adds to the allure. A shame this was not better promoted as seems to be somewhat unknown. Regardless people should really give this a chance & check it out. Will be purchasing this as I could watch many more times. Truly unique.

New Favorite Christmas Movie
13 December 2015
Absolutely love this movie! Have seen 4 times already and plan to buy so can watch at least 4 more times. These stars are really good & humorous together. Though being opposites, the chemistry works. Mayim has that cute down-to-earth type of look. Really like her acting. Have never seen her in The Big Bang Theory as I have never watched the show. Will be definitely checking it out now. Ryan has that Clark Kent sophisticated type of appearance. Have never heard of him or seen him act before so a pleasant surprise. He would have made a really wonderful Superman too. Definitely one of my new favorite Christmas movies to watch every season.
