Hilarious !!!! So NOT PC
29 March 2006
This was one of those rare movies where everyone in the theater was cheering, laughing so hard, and clapping!! I loved how satirical it was and how up-to-date it was.

All the characters were well developed and the plot flowed so well and nothing seemed too forced. It was so funny that I can't quite pin point a few things that were funny.

Perhaps there were times when the movie over did the whole satire thing but it was honestly such a great fantastic laugh that you won't quite mind.

I highly recommend it to everyone or rather everyone who think that they can stand how not politically correct it is.

Laughable

I saw an advanced screening of this movie and I was laughing the whole time--but for the wrong reasons. You see, the movie was not meant as a comedy unfortunately. The script was beyond cheesy and corny. That also applies to the plot line. You can just predict what will happen. There was absolutely no chemistry between Jessica Alba and Paul Walker. The acting was definitely not the cream of the crop.

For whatever it's worth, Paul Walker does look extremely hot and for those who would like to see Jessica Alba in a bikini, go for it and spend ten dollars. Otherwise, with the exception of a few surprises, the movie was well below par. I only rated it higher than a 2 was because Paul Walker was hot in it.

Loved it!

I absolutely adored the first movie and the second movie did not disappoint. It did stray quite a bit from the book but it does a great job of living up to the reputation of the first Bridget Jones. The Edge of Reason was funnier than the first one. I loved all the moments that Mark and Bridget shared, all of them made me warm and happy inside. Colin Firth does such a great job of portraying the caring and fabulous boyfriend at the same time keeping the part of Mark Darcy that we all love, the aloofness and the arrogance on the outside only. Bridget was a bit annoying however, you just have to accept that part of her. I do wish that it followed the book a little bit more, which is why I only gave it a nine out of ten.

Upon seeing the deleted scenes, I wished the director decided to keep them in. They were great and would have made the movie even better.

Very Much Like the Book--quirky and offbeat
19 July 2005
Okay, this is not the best movie ever made--even Colin Firth could not make it into a blockbuster hit. Nonetheless, it is quirky, fun and funny movie that is worth renting.

I read the book, New Cardiff, before seeing the movie and I have to admit, the movie captured the spirit of the book very well. Every character in the book came to life on the big screen through the cast. I loved Firth's portrayal of Colin, the artist, and his little dance in the movie. Minnie Driver's character was the most awful and annoying person ever and she does a great job of bring that to life. It is funny and, like I mentioned before, very quirky. Sure, the ending is not the most realistic but that was how the book went. I actually recommend reading the book before seeing the movie. It prepares you well for what the movie is about, just in case you had high hopes for it being an obviously fabulous movie. Instead, you will learn to like it, for all of its eccentricity.

Delightful movie
19 July 2005
I thought this movie was overall delightful. It really captured the innocence of the narrator and the passage that we all must go through as we mature.

I loved Colin Firth in this movie and his interactions with his son, the narrator, was well done. There were parts that made me laugh out loud and others that made me cringe because the awkwardness of the moment was so well portrayed and it made me feel as if I was there experiencing the moment with the characters.

It is a bit of an odd movie if you do not like this genre, a bit slow and not quite so mainstream. However, it is nonetheless worth seeing, especially if you think Colin Firth is a great actor!
