Deja Vu (2006)
Almost stopped bc terrible tropes at beginning
However, I'm glad I decided to give it a chance, I would have missed out on a truly creative movie. Excellent cast with engaging actors, some very unexpected Sci fi, and a vast degree of settings.
This added up to a great watch!
The Alchemist Cookbook (2016)
Scarier than most due to its pragmatism
I decided to give this movie a shot after reading a postive review about how unusual it is.
I'm grateful to the person who left the review because I might have missed out on this!
What they did in this movie caused a more visceral reaction in me than the worn out Tools of Terror I've become enured to.
Done so well that, for me, caused me to question what really is possible.
The Interview (1998)
Hugo Weaving's acting skills
I am now going to be so much harder to impress. I will wander the universe discontent with most drama I view because I've seen such talent.
I love his acting in this movie an regret having seen it, the veil has been lifted and magic harder to find. Thank you, I think.
The Plot Against America (2020)
Excellent portrayal of how the degradation starts.
The portrayal of life and all the people in our lives was rich and embroidered with complex strands of interpersonal history. The characters had depth. The way we can be used to turn against each other, even betray ourselves, was laid out explicitly and concisely.
Enjoyed this very much.
Cosmos (2019)
Otherworldly all the way through
I'm sure I do not know the terminology of the film world or its subtle tools. I do know I was completely engaged over the mundane struggles of being human in a way I can't imagine another movie ever having done.
It's beautiful to watch as well, and truly it felt like the three main characters inhabited a world all their own, and it was a cool one.
Lastly, how cool is it to see men in comfortable discourse? Highly functioning men with an emotional bandwidth? Love this movie.
Whoopi Goldberg: Direct from Broadway (1985)
Such a classic it's still as powerful 35 years later
Still touches those uncomfortable places with love 35 years later. Whoopi Goldberg is otherworldly kind perfect.
